Some racing historians contends that ole Enzo's obsession with sports cars racing series, in the mid-60s into the 1970s, really retarded the progress of the Ferrari F1 program during those years. It's been said that once the Ferrari team said _Arrivederci!_ to sports car racing, that the team focused on F1 racing and got back to its winning ways.

  • @bloqk16

One aspect that skews the number count: The quantity of F1 races there were from the 1950s through the 1970s when compared to the amount of races per season from the 1980s to present.
In 1959: Nine races, counting the Indy 500
    1969: 11 races
    1979: 15 races
    1989: 16 races
    2009: 17 races
    2019: 21 races
The unreliability of the F1 cars from the 1950s through the '70s downplayed the dominance factor for any single team; where any of the top-tiered teams would be extremely lucky to win half the races in any given season; unlike the era from the 1980s to present, where a dominant team could account for 75 percent, or higher, season victories.
