  • Hi All. Apologies for the sound quality in the video. I got hit with a copyright issue with the music so had to overlay CZcams approved clips which are loud in comparison. Hope it doesn't bother ye too much. Thanks.
    Part 1
This is a nice and easy approach to replacing the frame rails on your Datsun Z but could be applies on other makes and models also. It is suitable on a car with different levels or flat floor using the existing location of the chassis rails.
The car here is a Datsun 280Z 1977 and the steel box section is 70mm x 70mm.
    Hope you enjoy the Video

Great job! I did something very similar with the chassis rails on my 240Z. Instead of using box section I got a local steel fabricators to fold me 2 top hat sections.

Nice one. I was going down that road myself and then thought is would take on the challenge of the box section. Great to say goodbye to the rust 😃

Video was awesome man. Was interested in seeing how you made that last bend on rail but I guess you didn't film that part. No rust issues where the old frame metal is contacting the underbody?

Yeah I missed that part. I just cut out a V on both sides and hammered it over. Cut the V a little more until I got the angle. Then trimmed off the excess material.

If I ever get a 280Z, I'm totally stealing your technique for the frame rails.
