While I was editing this video I noticed my jyajyamen are expired! Noooo. I’m gonna eat them anyways >_> Wish me luck.
If i were u, i wud eat them too 😬 and yes, gud luck ! ❤️
>_<
But I think you’ll be ok \o/
Oh boy lol
😂😂
Youll be fine lol
Video idea:
I believe you're now morally obligated to show us this shaved ice machine voodoo you speak of, Sharla.
Agreed.
as soon as she said that I was like I need to see this magic she speaks of lol
I wanna see it too!
I am super intrigued aswell!
Oh yeah! I gotta see that now. Oh Sharla........we saw your magic bathtub! Now we need to see the magic ice shaver!😊
Since you're staying at home these days, it'd be nice to see how you prepare the food! Perhaps some type of what I eat in a day video or recipe videos :) I am also infinitely jealous of that pudding and absolutely need to see it plated and cut into 😭
I agree, I love watching people cook, especially because the meals on your list sound simple so it would be nice to get some new cooking ideas!
Mégane Pelletier agreed!!! 👍☺️🥰
some ideas:
- Your exercise! :) you look smashing Sharla!^^
- Cooking something/baking something
- Creating something creative :3
- your current skin care
- cats
Yes! Cats, skincare/makeup and cooking, maybe that tofu butter chicken?
cooking a meal and making shaved ice dessert would be a great vid!
All of these are wonderful ideas
Bring one of those portable trolleys that you see old people cart around with.
i do this too for shopping it helps alot :D
Yup granny trolley gang member here - makes life much easier when I don’t have access to the car!
They are not just for old people I have one I got in Ikea and it has flowers on it, and it help to take all your shopping home.

Melanie Jane Procter Mine’s from ikea too, but polka dot!
@@BinkyLoo42 love mine 😁👍🏻👍🏻
I’d love to have a tour of your animal crossing town and your thoughts on the game. 😊
Molly Arrow Yes, totally!!
Yes!
Upvoted. I hope she sees this.
Ooh yes a virtual tour with like voice over would be fun!!
Yeah! That’d be so cool!
I love that you’re vegan/veggie!! I am as well and it’s so so so helpful to see what products you go for. Thank you 🙏🏼
As soon as you said "Are you guys ready for the most exciting development," literally my first thought was, "Ah, she found some cereal." XD
I've been having Vegan "Butter Chicken" as well! Instead of the butter and milk I add canned coconut milk and instead of chicken I add chick peas. It's delicious.
Show us a day of eating your new foods! Fruit loops for breakfast, the new curry for lunch, noodles for dinner and the shaved ice thingy for dessert!
I'm vegan too and learning Japanese so I LOVE when you mix those topics! I'd love if you made more what I eat in a day videos :) been watching you since the beginning 😘
This is incredible because 3 years ago when I studied in Japan and being allergic to dairy it was incredibly difficult for me to eat anything!
I would love to see a video of the かき氷 machine! I didn't even know that was a thing! Every time we go to Japan we always buy a ton of those soy milks to bring back since they are the best! Thanks for the awesome videos and stay safe! :)
I would like to second this lol
Third
This was a cool video! I love learning about the "little details" of different countries like this. For a video suggestion, if you still take walks during the day, showing us some of your walking trails would probably be really visually pretty right now with sakura season starting! Thanks for your hard work on these videos, Sharla 💖
I love these casual videos, a natural day in the live look. And that pataks looks superb!
Gurrrl, get a grocery cart like you see the old ladies pushing around or a backpack. I don't drive or bike in Japan either. I use a cart when I need heavy things i. e. bottles of liquid, backpack for light items or I use both at the same time. Cuts off less circulation than a tote. If you haven't already looked, Amazon Japan and the home stores also has racks for over your stove at reasonable prices. I'm so glad to see you doing well. Cheers.
Oh yay, last time i was in japan they had sooo few plant based products. happy to see this change!
After seeing your tweet a while back, I'd really love to see a video of you talking about the different jobs you've had! Perhaps memorable moments, or just things that have happened that have stayed with you!
This is the first video of yours I've watched and I love it. The video was so calming and I love domestic style vlogs and videos where it feels like you are talking to us as a close friend 😊
Chill hangout and story time videos are always nice! I'm sure you have some fun stories and memories from all of your travels and experiences!
Do a spa day at home, I would love to see what a self care day looks like.
Please and thank you.
Japan really stay on top of their strawberry game, high quality
Yep!❤ we never have good strawberries in the grocery store, only a few boxes and they might be rotten too xDD only in summer u can get good strawberries at the street stands few times per year😂👊
In the UK strawberries taste like cucumbers.
@i am 4sale what i meant by UK was England, sorry.
I have seen some 6-7 of your blogs and I found its much much better than other blogs on Japan .. thanks for ur time
I enjoyed this video because it was food. I'm a chef and learning Japanese, so I started off with food. I knew most of what you bought, so that was a plus!
This birch sap is very popular in Russia, from like ages ago, people in villages drank it all the time.
My Russian professor brought some of that in for us to try, and I LOVED it! It has a subtle sweetness which I like
This was so interesting to see what a single person and vegan keeps on hand for food!
We live in Shiga and are a family of 3 (husband, wife, 2 year old boy). Our fridge is almost twice the size of yours and packed full, but we eat it all every week! We also have a deep freezer to store bulk items from costco, we shop in a more western style by purchasing things that are freezable or shelf-stable in bulk at lower prices and eating them over several months. I feel like we were low-grade food-hoarders long before the pandemic hit. I do think we'd have a LOT less food in the house if we didn't drive and if we didn't eat meat or dairy, those are a huge part of our diet. I am impressed with your stock of frozen veggies, and I can tell by the familiar packaging what brand of supermarket you have there :D
Ya deep freezers are a must for life
Yes! I love these type of videos. This is actually why I came across your channel in the 1st place. I just fell in love with all things Japan, and kept wondering what just regular daily life would be like there. There's plenty of travel videos with all of the touristy things, but I wasn't as interested in that.
It reminds me one of your very first videos sitting on the floor next to your tiny fridge and talking about groceries and bread in Japan !! Nostalgia!
I love Japan's grocery stores! It feels so large and sprawling full of products that are fresher than my local supermarket here in Sydney. Dangerous to be watching this at 2am wanting an Easter snack :)
I visit japan every year and I was lucky this time to be there in January.
Stay safe Sharla!
I love how well spoken Sharla is. I can listen to her all day long and never get annoyed lol
This was so interesting to see! Especially that lentils are so exotic in Japan apparently. Would looovee to try that mapo tofu😍
He it's Ivana! Funny to see you here
I wish we had those flavored soy milks in the U.S. you can only find chocolate and vanilla and they’re usually really expensive :(
I wish that we had other flavors of soy milk where I live in Canada. We only have chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry here. :(
Try Asian grocery's store?
Try store brand soy milks! Those tend to be cheaper.
They do in the USA! The brand kikkoman sells strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, matcha, and coffee flavored soy milk :) I buy it at my local 99 cents store and Asian supermarkets!
Audrey maybe look elsewhere from where you normally shop. I buy soy milk as well and there are places in town where it's cheaper and even cheaper than regular milk
I think this is the first time ever I've seen someone who isn't in Hungary actually have tomatopaste in their fridge and say it's for Hungarian cooking XD That was sooo relatable to me
I just showed my SO your daily routine video and he was like "Ohmygod!" Thats you! 🤣🤣🤣
I love your grocery haul. I have been following you for years and years. I have seen a couple videos here and there the past year. Now that I'm in quarantine, I'm so glad I went to your channel to see how things are going. Excited to revisit you again! 🤗
The fridge 'meal ideas' sheet is such a good way to try and get diversity into meals.. i also eat the same thing over and over and this has inspired me! thank you!
I love your new hairstyle Sharla you're glowing!
I do the same thing here in Connecticut, I buy more frozen veggies lately than I normally would to avoid going out too often! Kudos for staying home!!! I’m vegetarian as well and happy to see you have more variety in Japan now... I have a load of choices where I live... Stay Safe! 😊
I'm from Connecticut too! :)
I love this! I frequent my asian grocery stores here in BC, so I am always interested in finding new things to try!
Loved going to the grocery store with you. Stay safe!!! Thank u for the video!!!
great vlog! glad to see there are still food in the supermarket
Happy Easter Sharla! I was actually thinking about Japanese grocery stores the other day oddly enough. Great video!
Scott Lee Happy Easter!! 🐰
your fridge looks so healthy and varied i love it! super inspiring
Make a pantry tour! Or what I eat in a day! I love your food videos. I really like the meal list on your fridge. That's a great idea. I am going to try it myself!
Woo, catching a video right after upload! Such a tiny fridge really makes me wonder how you're able to fit everything, but that fridge is really economical with its space! I'm amazed how much you've managed to fit in it! It was quite interesting, and seasonal stuff must make it hard to plan your fruit intake, haha!
Some ideas:
1. Show us around your Animal Crossing island!
2. Just a chill sort of live-stream vibe gaming with Sharla!
3. Maybe a cooperative video where you and another friend talk over Skype or Zoom or something, and discuss various things about the current epidemic in your regions, about general life in Japan, or about a random topic of your choosing!
4. An extra-length Q&A!
Aloha, I would like to see your kakigori machine in action. It sounds interesting
Came down to the comments to say the same thing!
Yes plz!
Love your groceries/fridge tour! The jyajyamen(reminds me of chinese zhajiangmian), mabo tofu and butter chicken sauce are what made me really hungry, and the rare gems that are unique for me are the unicorn cereal, obscure drink section and frozen soy drink packets for kakigori. The part about your love for plant based food like soy is inspirational =)
Thanks for continually posting videos during this time when most of the world is staying home. Please post updates on the pandemic in Japan and what you are doing daily to pass the time. Be safe and stay healthy!
I'm a new subscriber and I always like watching day-in-the-life videos.
It’s exciting to see so many plant based products in Japan! 🌱
Thank you for this video. I love grocery hauls and fridge tour videos. Much love from BC. 💜
Really enjoyed this video! I love everything about Japan so I always appreciate your perspective. It would be super interesting to hear how you learned Japanese! I know you shared something like this a long time ago. I'm trying to learn Japanese so always appreciate simple tips or tricks for picking up the language better.
I was confused when you were talking about cereal but showing bags on the supermarket shelves, until I realised that they *were* cereal! Lol. Never seen it not in a box.
And I also freeze my bananas. I like ripening them at home as well. 😀
You can find bagged cereal in America but it's the cheap brands or store brand.
@@3DJapan Oh right, I never knew that 🙂 Not seen it in my part of Europe.
Yeah bagged cereals kind of hit the scene kind of quick about 15 or 20 years ago or so.....at least that is when i noticed them. JIm Gaffigan even had a couple jokes about them on beyond the pale.
I love these kinds of videos! I’d love a “Quarantine Routine” video from the time you wake to the time you go to bed. I bet you’re enjoying being home as I know you travel a lot. Covid19 is scary but I have got to say I’m enjoying having an excuse to be home!
She uploaded one not long ago! It was super relaxing
@@swish043 I loved that style! I hope she'll do more of those! Was so relaxing!
I love going to grocery stores, here and when I’m on vacation, because there’s always new stuff to try.
I love this video!
Seeing a new video from you always makes me happy!
Japanese food always looks so delicious - I would love to see more cookery videos from you
yes, maybe something with the tofu
loopyfrog yum chocolate (cheese) tofu-cake 😋
THAT'S the Quarantine-content I expect!! xD
American here. Boomer. I am enjoying your videos. This is my second one, the first being your apartment tour. Your bathroom is amazing!!!
I too came to the conclusion that buying frozen vegetables in these days of quarantining is better than buying fresh produce. For one thing, I think there's less likelihood of contamination, and certainly better storage and shelf-life. I'm also using frozen entrees even though they're not an optimal choice because of sodium content. But I eat only small entree portions, with a salad and vegetables being the main course of my meals.
On top of all the covid worries each day presents now, my area along the coast of South Carolina was under a tornado emergency watch this morning. My neighborhood was spared, but nine lives were lost across the state before the severe storm system moved off. Tonight I'm collecting myself with cups of warm green tea with brown rice.
I’m so sorry to hear you’ve also got tornadoes to deal with now too! Stay safe out there🙏🏻❤️
@@sharlainjapan Thank you. It was quite a morning. 🍵
Always super envious of everything that is available in Japanese supermarkets. They seem so good.
Wow, doesnt look lime you are short of anything...stay safe Shar. Followed you for a while now, discovered you when Tokyo Lens had 100 followers. You defo one of the better Japanese youtuber
Best editing out of the Japan youtubers IMO. Super clean, no faff. One of my favourite video uploaders for sure
Agreed. Tokyo lens and her are the ones I watch the most .
Please show us this ice-maker machine u mentioned in this video, I have never seen something like that, I'm really curious 🙏😍
こんにちは, awesome video! Nice to see the differences between Japanese and western food shops. Also the meal idea sheet on the fridge door is great, I’m gonna use that. Thank you.
Mabo tofu is soooo good! It's awesome that more non-meat/dairy products are starting to pop up. Making shave ice with those flavors sounds amazing.
This was relaxing and hunger inducing to watch ~ I miss checking out other people's fridge hehehe!!! Thank you Sharmeleon
Silent viewer from Philippines. Keep safe there in Japan. Xoxo ❤❤❤❤
I’m psychic because a week ago I dreamt you did a fridge/freezer tour for some reason and now you’ve done it and I am as equally excited as I am freaked out! I’ve always thought this would be such a cool idea for someone to do because I’ve always been interested to know what’s inside peoples fridges for some reason 😶 Anyways I really enjoyed the video, seeing Japanese grocery stores and having price comparisons, and even seeing what plant based items are available, one of your best videos yet in my opinion ! 💗
Idk why but I LIVE for these videos, something about japanese groceries really gets me going and idk why
If I could I would eat cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday and I wouldn’t get tired of it 😅. Making a meals list is pretty good idea. I do try to get plenty and different kinds of fruit and vedgetables in me. Puddings and yoghurts are my favorite dessert too. This was fun and interesting to watch.
Omg the pataks curry paste! I just found some the other day but no butter chicken 😭 also respect to the stock of puddings you have 😂 I also bought so many bahahaha
Also omg you bought the soy milk Kakigori machine!!! I’ve wanted to try it since last year, please make a video of it 😍
I can’t believe how many people want to see it in action!! XD I’ll def have to show it in the next vlog haha
I love the meal ideas thing! I do something similar on my fridge - list the main ingredients I have, so I remember to eat them before they go bad.
I haven't written out actual meals to try though - I think I'll try that, though!
Hi Sharla, hope you are keeping well. Thank you for the videos always good to get input from other regions of the world.
So happy that when I manage to get to Japan after this pandemic, I will be able to eat vegan! I was panicking so much about it.
Thanks for reminding me that I desperately need to go grocery shopping
I've seen some CZcamsrs do closet tours, where they show off some of their favorite pieces/outfits. Would be fun to see what you can buy over there and hear about what pieces you kept from past lucky bags, etc.
cooking videos would be fun! i love seeing how different dinner recipes in Japan are compared to the west.
How can you predict the 5 second window from when avocados are rock hard to when they are brown and gross? Do you have a secret formula?
Love this and love you!!
I love seeing different grocery stores and hauls. Omg I would die for that special shaved ice machine cool!
I need to see this shaved ice machine!!! Thanks for showing your fridge I've always been curious. And the fridge size is nice
How tough is grocery shopping in Japan right now? In the US (at least where I'm at in Texas) there are still tons of bare shelves when it comes to thing like meat, pasta, tomato sauces, noodles, milk, eggs so you pretty much just grab whatever you can find. Toilet paper is still a nightmare to get a hold of.
@@user-xx7pg3vw9k Not the two HEB near me nor the three Walmarts, and we have no Kroger nor Aldi in the area.
@@user-xx7pg3vw9k Ended up going to HEB today to pick up some meat to throw in the deep freeze and the shelves actually looked pretty good. Still no toilet paper or hand sanitizer, though I loaded up on both of those more than a month ago knowing COVID was going to devastate the US. Only thing I wanted that I couldn't find was ramen. Last week though it was a completely different story.
Hearing you mention Soy is in everything reminds me of my friend that is vegan but allergic to Soy. I'm glad that more vegan stuff is becoming available to you in Japan!
Wow that's difficult! I had a friend allergic to soy in America. She wasn't vegan but it was so hard for her to find things to eat
Cooking videos. That’s what I’d like to see. I like to see the dishes you create with your grocery hauls. Inspire us!
Hey sharla I'd love to see a cooking video, like in depth how you prepare vegetables and sauces etc. Kind of like Juns kitchen style would re so cool 😊
"Leftover avocado"? I don't understand the concept. Avocados are not safe around me.
Why are they not safe?
@@Cyhcg5uhgb because he eats them
I love them! They are expensive there!
Same never let over here lol xx
Thanks for the video, it was fun to watch.
I think we'd all like to see your animal crossing village. I wouldn't mind seeing your in-game house and what villagers you have :)
I love this video it’s well thought out! Prices, footage in the store, and great haul.
Love this, so many things on what to buy next time I visit japan while avoiding meat and dairy.
you living in my dream life❤️私も日本に遊びに行きたい❤️
I love you so much!
Your fridge is so organized ☺ I love your meal plan on the fridge, I'm trying to get healthy (I need to lose 45 kilos) and this inspires me ☺
Sharla I would love to see you cook some of your favorite recipes! Stay safe!
Tomato paste is cool but you need red paprika too for Hungarian cooking :D
Got lots of that while I was back in Canada :D
Some of those things in the fridge could be stored in a pantry to open up space for more food.
Things like Mirin, Sweet chili sauce, tomato sauce, takoyaki sauce, Sriracha, the maple syrup.
Could stuff in more food to last longer through these tough times :o
Real maple syrup has to go in the fridge, it will go mouldy unlike artificial maple syrup
@@nomiguda oh?
How long would that take?
I buy the maple Syrup from costo here in Australia and I just store mine in the pantry for up to 4 to 6 months.
@@mdem5059 real maple syrup is quite different and way more expensive.
@@nomiguda You didn't answer the question ~ lol
I just googled around and the Costco maple syrup is indeed "real" maple syrup.
Seems to have no problem being at room temp for 5-6 months, although you are 100% right it will get moldy.
once opened and you know you won't be able to eat it within say 5 months, fridge it. just warm it before use.
Fun video, I love grocery hauls haha. I love the idea of a little shave ice machine!. I just wanted to share a tip with you that I started doing when I lived in Japan and now continue in the US. If you like to use a fair amount of ice, you can keep a little plastic bin in the freezer drawer to put your frozen ice cubes in then you can make more and still have some to use while the ice is freezing. This helped me loads during the summer months living in Wakayama.
ive always been intimidated on how id survive in japan on a plant based diet so seeing what you buy really assured me that theres options out there so thanks for the video!!!
How is the strawberry Coke? I loved the Apple when I was in Japan and have been begging them to make a US run of it.
Now this was circa December last year but I have seen the apple Coke in the US- the catch is that it was at a Japanese market in Orange County, California. Check if you have any Asian/import markets in your area.
Kenny duarte I was in Japan in November. I haven’t found any here at all. I’m not pay 13 bucks plus shipping on EBay for it. FYE now carries some Kit Kat’s at 10 bucks and some grape Mountain Dew.
I thought it was pretty good. I got one in my Japan Crate.
I was really surprised by the Apple coke, usually the fruit flavors aren’t good (aside from orange and lemon, of course) but that one was great
I'm in Australia, never got that one here :(
You don't like real Canadian maple syrup?!
You are dead to us. 🤣🇨🇦
I'm Australian and hate vegemite 😂
@@misaandcoart 🤣
Canadian syrup is soooo much better than the American fake syrup (e.g. Mrs. Butterworth). Any time I visit Canada, I always make sure to grab a bottle
There are two 🇨🇦 who don’t like maple syrup. 😊
I love your videos! Been watching for a few years now thank you so so so much for sharing the beautiful life you live in Japan also, Fun fact: seasonal fruits and vegetables help your body to regulate its temperature better rather than eating fruits and vegetables that aren’t in season.
Aww the pic with taylor sticking on the wall is adorable :))
