      Imagine if the fine gemstones industry discovered moissanites before diamond and then that was what was marketed to us first.
      We would have been conditioned to think that Diamonds don’t have desirable sparkle because their retractive index is too low compared to a moissanite.
      Moissanite is clearly better looking, but thanks to really good marketing we collectively have a tough time separating diamonds from the idea of an engagement ring.

My original wedding set was eaten by the garbage disposal (long story), and I replaced it with an aquamarine set, because it was pretty. False. Diamonds are expensive because the market is highly controlled. Diamonds are not rare under any stretch of the imagination. When you control the supply, you establish baseline value. Ethiopian opals are considered higher quality than Australian, but 95% of opals come from Australia. They are the market leader so they get to call the shots. I think you just prefer real diamonds and that’s ok. But moissanites are absolutely beautiful 🤩 and do not compare to a cheap CZ or do not look fake. When you see one in person you’ll be hooked. Unless you’re a jeweler. A lot of jewelers are against moissanites bc they sell for much less..

      True, some moissanite is cheaply made and/or poorly cut. The same could be said of diamonds or any other gemstone. My daughter found a ring on the bottom of her grandmother's jewelry box that wasn't very pretty. We assumed it was CZ, only to find out we've been letting her wear a 1 carat tw diamond ring around for years. Now that we've cleaned it, it looks very similar to my moissanite. I honestly don't think that anyone who hasn't been trained to distinguish a diamond from other white gemstones would know the difference between her ring and mine.

  • @Alexandra-rb7ju
    @Alexandra-rb7ju Před 2 lety +16

    I feel like this was a video just to trash moissanite by calling it names like "fake" or "cheap". When it is, in fact, none of those things. I see moissanite as a completely different stone from a diamond, and there is no need to compare the two or knock one over the other. The only reason why this happens is because the diamond industry doesn't want you to buy moissanite, and people around you feel the need to make fun of your ring for "not being a diamond" because they need to justify spending more money, I guess.
    I received a moissanite ring as well as a "star" named after me. Whenever I look at my moissanite ring, I think of the star named after me up in the sky. I would never trade the experience or the ring for a diamond simply because it's a gemstone grown in the earth, and the belief that a natural stone is somehow better than an alternative.

    • @henrylockett2020
      @henrylockett2020 Před rokem +2

      Exactly! The diamond industry is a big scam anyway. Let the rich people continue to buy their "diamonds". Moissanites are nearly as hard as diamonds, and the most brilliant gemstones on earth. 1/10th the cost.

  • @jenicdarling9425

    We as humans put more value onto one shiny rock over the other that looks the same. I’ll never understand spending so much on a ring, not like it’s a computer or house where you’ll notice the difference of having one that’s cheap vs expensive.

    A Moissanite diamond ring can be set in a variety of settings, including solitaire, halo, pave, or three-stone settings. The ring's band can be made of various materials, such as yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, or platinum, to complement the stone's color and overall look.
    One of the advantages of a Moissanite diamond ring is that it is more affordable than a traditional diamond ring of the same size and quality. Moissanite stones also come in a range of sizes, shapes, and colors, giving buyers more options to choose from when selecting a ring.
