My Chinese is not well because I don't have the opportunity to focus on studying as much as I'd like to (other uni classes ugh) and Chinese wants dedication and consistency. Sometimes it gets frustrating but when I understand sth in chinese I get super proud and that feeling is everything to me! No the crowd was surprised and impressed. They were trying to clap every time he said anything. His choice of vocabulary was a bit odd but I think it’s obvious that’s very difficult for non natives. Also I think he says Chinese a lot more casually than native Chinese people do which is making everyone laugh. Chinese celebrity talks are often quite formal (compared to English) with very calculated jokes, with everyone trying to maintain their public image. Since he’s not being formal people think he is trying to joke from his mannerisms.
