  • In this lesson we look at some of the key features of Hinduism and its relation to the caste system in Ancient India as well as how it still impacts India today. This is by no means a comprehensive study of Hinduism or the Caste System and I encourage anyone with interest in this topic to research further.

🤦🏼‍♀️🧐 get your facts correct. Don't draw parallels with Indian Varna system and European caste system.

Hello Audrey, thank you for your nice and informative video! i love them... 🙏
Regarding “caste system” I would like to note the following. The caste system as practiced today is NOT based on the sacred scriptures of the Vedas. It is a perverted sectarian form of pseudo-religion. Comparable to Christianity, which teaches that you will only be accepted by God if you believe in Jesus Christ. In reality, the Vedas do not explain that someone being born in a particular caste automatically belongs to that caste... this is complete nonsense! Shri Krishna explains in the Bhagavad-Gita (BG 4.13) that a person's "caste" (varna) depends on their characteristics (guna) and behavior (karma). Any human being, even if he is born as a Shudra (ordinary worker) or Mlecha (outcast, meat eater), can attain the status of a Brahmana if he has the required qualities and acts accordingly. Which means that the ignorant population is intentionally left in darkness just to give an upper class the right to be "privileged". So if a person was born in a Brahmana family, but does not have the character traits and corresponding behavior, according to the Vedas, he is NOT a Bramana but a fraud, a hypocrite who only deceives himself and others... which in turn has very negative karmic effects in his next life. So every person can be initiated as a Brahmana by an authorized spiritual teacher (guru) if he has the necessary qualities, has been trained and acts accordingly. So there is no discrimination by birth in the Vedic scriptures!
With regard to the castes (varnas = body of society) the following comparison is made in the Vedas. The head represents the braminic class (qualified spiritual guides/teachers), the arms the protective class (police + army), the belly the feeding class (farmers, traders, banking) and the legs as the working class that supports the whole thing. All parts of the social body are needed and RESPECTED! Everyone acts according to their nature and is guided by the Vedic scriptures, which aim to lead all people to the transcendental level. 🙏

What the ancient Hindu scriptures was referring to was four - fold Varna System . This system was only textual or theoritical and it existed only in scrolls and has no relationship with the reality on the ground . The pre - colonial written records in royal court documents and traveller accounts studied by philologists show little or no mention of caste .
" Until well into the colonial period , much of the sub - continent was still populated by people for whom the formal distinction of caste was of only limited importance, even in parts of the so - called Hindu hearland . The institutions and beliefs which are now often described as the elements of traditional caste were only just taking shape as recently as the early eighteenth century " .
    ( British Anthropologist , Susan Baily )
" Regarding the origin of caste we can place no reliance upon the statements made in the Hindu sacred writings. Whether there was ever a period in which the Hindus were composed of four classes is exceedingly doubtful " .
( W.R Cornish , who supervised Census Operations in the Madras Presidency in 1871 )

    Stop spreading misinformation.
What are your qualifications on this subject? What authentic references have you researched for this topic?
May be you should focus on cultural genocide that missionaries and imperialists conducted.....the ethnic cleansing, massacres, forced conversions....starting from Europe(Spanish Inquisition, declaring other spiritual practices as heresy by church).

Spreading falsehood is a disservice to a researcher's intelligence....unless the intention is to spread misinformation. What a way to earn money!
