- 👀 What is Myopia?
Myopia is a condition, and not a disease, in which one can see near objects clearly but far objects blurry.
Myopia is also known as short-sightedness or near-sightedness and it affects 1.5 billion people or 22% of the global population.
People with Myopia have blurry vision when looking at distant objects.
👉 Signs & Symptoms:
They need to squint or partially close the eyelids to see clearly.
Drivers also have difficulty seeing while driving a vehicle, especially at night.
Others have headaches.
If your child sits at the front of the classroom or moves very close to the screen, he or she probably has myopia.
👉 Myopia causes:
In myopia, the rays of light entering the eye are brought to a focus in front of the retina, rather than directly on its surface.
This usually results from the eyeball being too long, but can be occurred by an overly curved cornea or a lens with increased optical power.
Although scientists do not yet know the exact causes of myopia, there are many factors - such as genetics - that could increase the likelihood of developing it.
👉 Myopia treatment:
Myopia can be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses, or a refractive surgery.
Eyeglasses are the easiest and safest method of correction.
Contact lenses can provide a wider field of vision, but they are often associated with a risk of infection, if not taken care properly.
Refractive surgery, on the other hand, permanently changes the shape of the cornea.
👉 Myopia prevention:
In most cases, myopia does not cause any further health problems.
For those who have more severe forms of myopia, it is important that they tell their optometrist about any changes in their vision. Without treatment, they could be at risk of developing additional eye problems, or even vision loss.
Myopia is a treatable condition, and when it comes to children, it is a condition that can be slowed down with the right treatment.

Myopia, shortsightedness, nearsightedness is caused by eye muscles becoming muscle bound from too much reading or other up close work and not enough time looking far away to maintain range of motion in these focus muscles.
Close one eye when reading; this reduces eye strain by half. Get a pair of 1.5 Plus Lense Reading Glasses with the blue light blocker. 1.5 is about half of Pi or 3.14. You want the Blue Light Blocker as if you use a light emitting device without it you can lose your depth perception.
Myopia is reversible. Do not wear Contact lenses.

I am 16 and have myopia. Can I stop it if I see a doctor and wear eyeglasses . If I treat well will I get rid of it?
I am also 16 and also have myopia😅
It helps slow down the condition from getting worse.
I have myopia, So can I see clearly like the normal(non-myopiated) person using eyeglasses?
I was thinking the same thing like does it actually help the myopia or does it just temporarily help. You should watch the VOX video, it basically says our eyes grow ovally instead of round and it can damage the retina which then could cause glaucoma or blindness. I used to have amazing vision, just this year I got super nearsighted for some reason. Good luck!
Yeah u can!
I am 16 yrs old and i had myopia since 14 but i ignored it but after 1 yrs i felt how i am seeing this world its not exactly look like this,it is more beautiful and clear ,now i am wearing glasses i can see clearly, shame has gone after 1 month and i am happy now😅
