I encountered a soft lock in a fire red hack one time that drops you atop a random rock in blackthorn that has no exit if you ever use Teleport. Anyways, thank you for the content, it helped me through a lot of hard times in my life.
I’ve loved the Soft Lock Picking series for a long time. It’s always fascinating to see what kind of horrible scenarios you can create for yourself, even if you have to go out of your way to do it.
Ironically this is probably one of the least absurd escapes from the SoftLockPicking series.
You could easily do this yourself in less than an hour once you know the method.

the lorelai's infinite battle softlock was also insane considering the odds of escaping was 1 in 68 quindecellion. so interesting, and yet so cruel.

The reason you need 2 pokemon to trade is because you could trade yourself an Egg and then things get really weird. So they had to prevent that

Crazy? I was crazy once. They left me in a grand city. A grand city with Electrode. Electrode made me crazy.

Basically with the 1/256 glitch thing with Magikarp, the idea was to get into encounters with Pokemon like Graveler who know self KO moves like Self-Destruct and Explosion and pray that when they used them they'd miss you but still KO themselves like normal, this only had a 1/256 chance to happen as ALL 100% accuracy moves like Self-Destruct and Explosion in Gen 1 had a 1/256 chance of missing due to a coding error.

Soft Lockpicking is so much fun! The earlier ones are “more realistic” (they could happen in a save file), but the later Pikasprey went, the more absurd they get and I hope you react to more!
The reason the old man with the Abra is in the Gen 2 league is because it is part of the Kanto map.
In the game you can't fly from Johto to Kanto amd vice-versa, you would have to either take the train or surf from the starting town.
So they put him there to give players an easy access back to the Johto map without having them backtrack victory road and the route leading to it.
I would not be suprised if the sentence went "In gen 1 it was bugged and gave you health back"

Abra looks like a Mr Mime because the Graphics of the original Gen 2 games had the Sprites be multiple Pokemon while Pikachu and Meowth have their own unique sprites
The not enough Badges thing at the Pokemon League actually happened to me in a Nuzlocke. I Showed up all ready to go... took a Breath... And realized i forgot about Brawly...

(Edit) it's Winona i'm thinking of. I purposely skipped brawly till before norman since he gives me trouble, but completely forgot to go back and fight Winona. It was really awkward
It still astounds me that Brawly is skippable given that Norman says he’ll battle you if you get 4 badges and apparently he doesn’t actually check them properly.

Pikasprey is dope, some of his other soft lock picking scenarios are incredibly devious and super convoluted. They’re so fun to watch.

I think the trade thing is because of the ability to trade eggs. Since eggs can't be sent out into battle, trading your only pokemon for an egg would leave you with nothing.
It's probably a convience of math thing. Consider like this: pokemon count as 1 and eggs count as 0. When you start a trade, the game counts how many pokemon you have. As long as you have more than 1 pokemon, you are allowed to trade. After a trade is complete, the number of pokemon you have gets recounted, and the process starts over.
This would be simpler to program than allowing someone to trade, checking if they are trading for an egg, then checking if the egg would make them have no pokemon.
I have forgotten Brawly 2 times when I was younger. Both him and Lt. Surge are the only gym leaders I forgot to fight.
You have to beat Brawly to fight your dad. You need 4 badges to take on Norman

For move effects you cannot change them in Yellow or else shit will break and the duct tape will come loose. Since Yellow is compatible with Red and Blue (and Green in Japan), you have to keep the moves effects the exact same with both games, otherwise desyncing will happen and crash the game often for Player V Player battles. Still funny how many move bugs there was in gen 1.
Sootopolis was built out of a giant crater. Also, Colosseum does have a sequel in XD Gale of Darkness.

I don't usually like reaction videos but yours are always very entertaining to watch
If you were doing this to someone else's file, it would be likely that they would have got flash and brawly's badge(to access elite four), but the electrode's level would be decided by you, so that would be effective for preventing this escape, if you set it to 100, so that's probably the best way to screw up someone's save file.

I can't say for certain, but I am pretty sure I did in fact forget Brawley on at least one playthrough when I intended to come back and fight him later once lol
Medicham would give the same amount of EXP regardless of Electrod's level because that change was in gen 5, 7, 8, and 9.
I would recommend a series by @RealLifeTutorial (they are the only videos made so far but they are cool) about how many Pokémon you would need to beat the entire Pokémon franchise. Similar to chaoticmeatball’s franchislocke in theory but the execution is much different and definitely worth a watch

Hard shot in the dark, like asterion shooting while blinded, and at disadvantage kind of shot in the dark, but you should react to Genshin’s “The Song Burning in the Embers” since you’ve reacted to all the other characters short films, I think you would really like this one. You need 0 prior knowledge of the game or anything
0:33 Well, no. A soft lock is when the only thing you can do to escape out of a stuck situation is to reload a save, that's why it's called a *soft* lock. A completely and utterly inescapable situation is a hard lock, or just a regular lock :)
That's not right either, a softlock is when the game *software* is working completely normally as intended, but the game is in a state where it is impossible to progress further. A hardlock is when the game completely crashes or freezes and the only way out of it is to reset the *hardware* .
