    FYI, there's much easier to remove these plastic rivets: just push the pin in with any small screwdriver. No need to drill, pull or other brut force methods. It's even possible to reuse them if you can get access to the back of the rivet. Pushing the pin works every time.

    I recently had to partially remove the fenders on my 2022 Jeep JL to install side marker turn signals where the cowl vents are. I found you can use a flat yellow plastic trim remover with the V on one end to do the job without breaking the white clips. They have two small barbs that hold the clip in place. Slide the V on the trim remover behind the clip, so the V contacts the barb. Then work it side to side while pushing on it, and it will force the barbs to close, and pop back out of the hole, thus allowing the fender to pull slightly away from the side of the jeep. Just repeat on all the white clips. This way is slower, but you won't break the clips. Use a mirror and a flashlight to see exactly where to put the tool with the V.

    Someone told me about this video and I had to check it out. So those white fender clips are expensive and if you use needle nose pliers from the back, they pop off and don’t break // 2. Those fender rivets, you just push on the centre’s and they pop open.

      How did you get to the back of them? You have to pull of the fender liner to get to them correct? I’m trying to pop them out to get to the passenger light wiring harness and it’s freakin impossible without pulling the fender off. Started to pull it off and immediately broke 3 clips..

    Not quite sure I caught it in the video, but is it possible to remove just the outer (rear) fender without having to drill out the pins? I plan to replace a damaged rear driver side outer fender with an OEM one.

    It is not necessary to remove all of the rivets. Some are dummy rivets and are for show only. They are not attached to the inner fender liner. I believe that only 4 out of the 8 are actually used as an attachment.

    What’s the difference between the standard and the high line fenders on the JL? Are they wider? Steve

    • @Quadratec
      @Quadratec  Před 5 lety

      Yes, they give you more tire clearance and they are also wider as well

  • @ryanhall8159

    I'm not sure what's changed, but my front JLR fenders didn't have any 8 mm bolts and in fact, had an extra 5th 10 mm bolt. The back was identical though. Those clips are a pain and most of mine shattered while trying to remove. Inexpensive JK clips from Amazon can be used with a little modification though since the factory JL clips are crazy expensive.

      @ryanhall8159 Před rokem

      @@jav_eee you either have to enlarge the opening on the fender or shave down the clip.

    Why can I not get the electrical connector to unplug? I pulled out the little red locking tab and it will not come unplugged no matter what I do. 😡

    Hi, I do not understand how to disconnect the light connection wire. I pulled the red clip forward but I still cannot get it to separate and come apart.

    • @Quadratec
      @Quadratec  Před 4 lety

      You have to depress the release tab once you slide the red locking clip. If it's really stuck, you can try spraying the connector with some WD-40 to help loosen and dirt that may be making it hard to pull apart.

    Do I have to remove my wheels to do this? Wanting to paint my fenders without having to tape everything off.

    • @buttnakedjeepin
      @buttnakedjeepin Před měsícem

      No, just remove the 4 bolts and the one push pin towards the front of the fender and pull it off. The liner will come with it so you don’t need to drill out the plastic rivets. Just be aware you will still need to discount the fender light once it is separated .

    THIS IS BAD ADVICE, DO NOT DO THIS!
    I broke half my clips, and half the clip slots on the flare. Also tore out the plastic spacer at the bottom rear of the front flare. Since mine are painted thats going to cost me $1100 to replace my fender. Wised I paid for the $3 rivets rater than following this procedure. I talked to the guy at the Jeep collision shop and he said the correct way to do this is to release the white clips. It means you need to remove some of the plastic rivets to take off the wheel well, but it's way easier, and you wont destroy your fender.
