Microfiber Towels On A Roll? The LAST Time I Ever Talk About This Topic

  • The detailing market is wild .. it's a cess pool much of the time of people tossing out trigger words, fancy labels and "sales" to separate you from your money and I understand that this is literally every single market in the world but we all need to take a step back at times and look with fresh eyes ..
    When it comes to THIS topic .. you need to decide what your budget is and what your USAGE plans are for these towels .. do you invest in higher quality towels? are you looking for throw aways that you COULD wash multiple times and keep as kick around towels for the engine bay, door jams, exhaust tips, etc? every person has their own wants, needs, expectations and BUDGET .. we also have unique storage setups so that will also play a roll in things .. me? I just like to experience as much as I can, whenever I can .. I am very vocal over the fact that I waste money often just to know for myself what is worth it and what is not .. I know longer videos are many times not sought after but condensing this into a tiny little video is not my style and there are many other places to find the minimal effort, short form content creators so I wish you the best lol below will be a list of links to the Amazon, Walmart and Rag Company offerings .. YOU need to decide what is best for you and your situation .. I am not here to sell you on any specific any thing .. I am not sponsored or biased here .. I have MY OWN opinions and you now know how I stand on this crazy topic so do with that information as you please lol

    This video is brought to you by the producers of 'Tires' streaming now on Netflix. Lol... Geezus, this is the best Monday morning commuting video I've seen in a long time. Lol... Absolutely epic!

    I’ve always been skeptical of the tear away towels. But those bigger Wally World towels don’t look too bad. A little over $.50 per towel isn’t bad if it’s a dedicated wheel, chrome or other undesirable area towel.

    Another really interesting video,you have definitely saved me some money ,they are probably only fit.for toilet paper,I will stick with buying better quality towels and wash them regularly,and when they start to ware, I will use them as rags .

    What I am trying to figure out is what reason we would use those cheaper rip n rags, over something like the blue shop towels on a roll. Those can be had for like $20 for a case. If it’s just for wiping a table off or checking oil in the car then it’s going in the garbage after anyways. Not much point in throwing away a reusable towel each time. Just use the thick shop towels as they are like a thick paper towel.
    The ultra ones I will test out with ceramic coating. I like the idea of them as they seem good quality and safe. But will have to test and see. I don’t really care to keep those towels around after using them for coatings.

      I use these tear away towels for wiping down metal that I do in custom signs. But I won’t even touch them Powder coated with these towels. They will leave massive amount of micro scratches everywhere.

    The Rag Company sells the Ultra Rip N' Rag by the case of six boxes (of 50-count each), for $202.28 and free shipping. I think if you could find a use to justify consuming that many in a reasonable timeframe, the pricing becomes a lot more competitive.

      yeah I could see bulk purchases making sense for higher volume types but I can only speak for the regular mofo like myself that consumes maybe 1-2 of these rolls every few months lol

    • @Supermath101
      @Supermath101 Před 2 měsíci

      @HonestlyOCD If you truly consume an average of 50-100 rags every three months (1-2 rolls), then the case will last you 9-18 months. If you have the storage space, it might not be that overkill. It's not like microfiber rags expire.

    Also I believe the Platinum Series from Walmart were the first to come out with Microfiber on a roll. So I believe they hold the patent for it.

      A few days ago, Wal-Mart in Danbury CT has them on sale for $7.50 - the sign said they were going to be discontinued. Picked up one roll for utility use

    Always appreciate the blunt honesty. Been using the regular rip n rags as my throw away towels for a bit I already have dedicated dirty job towels so I don’t go through them too quick, and I placed an order during the sale to try the new ultras. Definitely curious to see how they perform being a 70/30 pearl weave for under a dollar a towel, but either one I wouldn’t buy full price.

      I love having options so for me the more the merrier I just felt like I had to do a one and done video on this topic lol everyone has their own needs and expectations though so maybe something I hate others will love lol that does tend to happen often as I'm strange and over the top for many things :O

  • @WolfAbarth

    Don't they say you should wash a microfiber before you use it? So should you just put the whole roll in your washing machine? ;)
    I guess it's easier to make and handle rags on a roll as apposed to loose towels.

    • @HonestlyOCD
      @HonestlyOCD  Před 13 dny

      that is a very good point haha it's likely "prewashed" or some gimmick lol

    I just use the yellow microfiber towels from Costco; use and discard.
    In the past I have used higher quality microfiber towels (for removing sealants, etc.) and then washed/reused. I didn’t find it was worth it. Costco all the way.

      I'm sure they do work I'm just saying for the price as a standalone purchase without the discount I found and the shipping factored in I'd rather have the pearls I've been using and my other brands not on a roll :)

      @@HonestlyOCD understood. I always do a big enough purchase to get the free shipping. Paint wasn’t the least bit soft and it seemed to be fine. I get your point though.

    Those cheap towels are great for cleaning the kitchen floor with a waterless wash solution. Also, for cleaning the stove. Strictly utility use. KiLn is the winner for glass

    All that talking you didn't even mention polyester vs polyamide.... Walmart is 87/13 blend which is absolute shit.
    Minimum should be 80/20

      funny how I did talk about the blend lol maybe you need to use one of those towels to clean your ears out little homie
