    That mysterious amulet around Raelin is Kee-Mo-Shi's mind shackle control. Raelin turned evil for a time until Sgt. Drake destroys the amulet. I like that they're pulling in the old lore into the new game.

    Very exciting stuff! I grew up playing this game and have gotten into warhammer since then but I still love the simplicity of Heroscape. It’s easy to learn and difficult to master which is a sign of a fantastic game!

    Wonderful coverage by Renegade here! I love the Wellspring Water mechanic! What an exciting terrain-based game-changer! Painted minis 🥳, but colors seem too cartoonish, too bright and lack opacity in this preview e.g., Evil Realin compared to classic scape. Maybe lack of a wash? Hope this will be fixed in production. I love the army card artwork shown here in the preview, but I am confused by the inconsistency and the mixing in of cartoonish artwork e.g., Knaves of the Silver Scimitar. Ewashia seems very cool but a bit overpowered for only 115 points compared to e.g., Mimring at 150 points from the original master set. I hope we do not see a power creep... Definitely looking forward to this release and hopefully, we will also see new common squads soon.

    Doing some number crunching between the different painted and unpainted. Premium Master set is $5 per miniature (+$100 for 20 painted). Premium Battle set is $3.33 per miniature (+$20 for 6 painted). With that said, how much would you charge someone to do a premium painted miniature and how long would it take you to complete one? With my zero experience painting, it most likely would be an hour for me paint one and my time is worth more than $5/hour.

    Its time! Feels like the master set painted should like 65-75 bucks more than the non-painted instead of 100. Since the battle box is 20 bucks more for 6 painted units. 6 x 3.3 is about 20 figures so $20 x 3.3 = $66 roughly, even taking into account the dragon and raelin are large units to paint, maybe raelin would be the equvilent of getting two units painted and the dragon is the cost of 3 units painted. $20 x 3.83 = $76 roughly. There's probably a cost that I don't know about but as long as they use the money to keep heroscape alive this time.

    • @PatrickHebert-yi8et
      @PatrickHebert-yi8et Před 2 měsíci +3

      The difference in the price bumps (~45% bump for battle box and 80% bump for master set for the painted) is I think, like you said, due in large part to the size of the minis. The battle box has 6 minis. 4 are medium (human sized), and 2 are small (halfling size).
      The master set on the other hand, doesn’t have any small miniatures, but it does have 1 huge (the dragon that’s truly massive if you look up the Avalon Hill expo photos), the Mounted Raelin that’s a large basically the size of a huge, 6 more larges (the bears and the robot [soulborg]), and the rest are mediums.
      Lee also said if I remember correctly that there were just over 200 paint apps on the battle box minis but over 1200 paint apps on the master set. 3.33 times the minis but 6 times the paint apps means that the master set has more complex paint jobs on top of just larger ones.
      Then we also have to remember that these are not ONLY figure packs. They also come with a pile of terrain, sparkly water tiles, ruins, etc. We unfortunately don’t have a good reference for the price of ONLY the figures and won’t until we get some figure only packs, if we get figure only packs.
      I’m excited and will personally be pre-ordering a battle box painted!

    • @kimobruns
      @kimobruns Před 2 měsíci +1

      I think the dragon is the cost factor. That said, I gladly pay the 100$ painting cost as letting a third party paint the miniatures would likely cost more. I am very happy to get a consistent paint job here from the manufacturer directly that is in line with classic Heroscape. I would never buy unpainted heroscape if I have the choice. I think many people think like me and appriciate Renegade going the extra mile.

      What the others said is technically right, but the devs said that if there is enough demand for Heroscape, there’s a possibility that they’ll look back at some old units. Realistically, that wouldn’t be for a few years at best. All of the content shown in AoA was enough to be about 2 years of retail releases.

      Some people have more money than time. Some people have more time than money. There’s an option for each. If there’s not enough demand for the painted sets, maybe they won’t continue. During the Haslab campaign though, there were a lot of people that said they would pay a premium price for painted minis. Only time will tell if their money is where their mouth was.

    $50 for 3 trees and 6 bushes?!?! Seriously, thats price gouging. Meanwhile its only $45 for the 2 player set that COMES WITH 2 TREES OF THE 3 TREES FROM THE JUNGLE EXPANSION
    Or for $90, you can get TWO 2 player sets and have 4 trees, 62 hex tiles, and can easily sell off/give a buddy the extra copies of the uniques
    Love how you guys did Ticalla Jungle 2.0, but has less than the original and technically costing more (outside material inflation)

    • @mnmrocks2756
      @mnmrocks2756 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Sure it sucks that it's only trees and bushes, but it's about 1.36$/inch in length of heroscape tree/bush. The trees are 6.11 inch and the bushes are probably half the tree length so 3.05 inch and there are 6 of them. ~ 8.31$ for a tree and ~ 4.15$ for a bush. I think these trees are also bigger than the trees in Ticalla Jungle. I also don't understand why you would buy two 2 player set for an extra tree, you would be missing out on 6 bushes.
      TBH my biggest complaints is that it kinda looks like a Heroscape knock off. The character cards looks off, the trees and bushes looks funky and some of the characters... I guess it could be a bad picture and they look better in person.

    • @kimobruns
      @kimobruns Před 2 měsíci

      Tiqualla jungle trees and bushes were always painted with a wash, never unpainted. In the video, the characters and cards look cartoonish and the coloring is too close to the faction colors and makes it appear artificial in a way. They may be better in person. We will need to wait and see. Also, a bit annoying that no single common figure/ squad has been released yet.

    • @BorisCroire
      @BorisCroire Před 2 měsíci

      Should be noted that these are pretty clearly 3D renderings, not pictures of physical items. That's why they look a bit cartoonish.

  • @philm.5153
    @philm.5153 Před 2 měsíci +1

    After reviewing the characters and their cards, I've got to say I'm not very impressed.
    It seems like they went too hard on the pirate theme. Everyone has buckles and pouches, with muskets or capes.
    They're recycling a lot of old abilities with some changes, which makes me wonder if some of our older figures are just going to seem obsolete. Abilities that used to be semi-special are being slapped on everything. I'm definitely curious if they play tested with the older heroscape figures. I doubt it.
    I definitely won't be pre-ordering any of this. Maybe if it sticks around for a few waves, but even then I'm skeptical.

    • @PatrickHebert-yi8et
      @PatrickHebert-yi8et Před 2 měsíci +1

      These new figures were play tested with all of the classic Heroscape figures when they were being designed by Avalon Hill. If you’re curious about more unit cards, we’ve got versions of most of them from the Haslab in a sort of beta mode.
