At first I thought you somehow played the whole thing today after the Aus version dropped and got this video ready like a God. But the standee showing the player name Ryuplayer makes me think there's shinannigans at foot and you played this early......shomehow.....to get this to drop right as it came out here.

24:35 If you notice, the stampede destroys the original flagpole and leads you to the very long one. So the third (or rather, the second) wonder seed in that level is for getting the original pole.
2:16:12 The bubble flower probably isn’t the intended way to get this purple coin. If you hit every green piece you can to add to your track, it’s probably long enough to reach at the end.
Came to say this. Ryu gets such weird ideas in his head that are only issues because he keeps blatantly ignoring the intended way to do things. almost every time I see one of his videoes I feel like he shoud be playing a Sonic game instead with how fast he tries to go and skip as much of the level as possible.

First of all I want to say this game is amazing and fun! Now secondly this game is probably showing all the effects of all the mushrooms Mario consumed over the years, its like one big trip.
I must say, the devs went super creative and off-script with wonder flowers, and I loveeeee that!

Otherwise, you'd just get your standard 2D New Super Mario formula copy pasta'd over the last 20+ years.
Its kinda boring. Ultra short levels, it has too much of everything: items, bubbles and animals.

I love how wild they've been with the wonder flowers and the badges, it's quite the fun game honestly
Well, We know that Nintendo have 2D Mario on lock and there's always a 2D fanbase out there.
They could put out 'Mario Bros Sparkles' tomorrow and it'd sell 20+ million. Mario Bro's is Mario's answer to Pokémon at the cash registers basically. What I don't get is that Nintendo are _even more Successful with the 3D titles of _*_both_*_ Franchises._ So, why have they stuck to 2D with Wonder?? Was it just sheer whimsical choice?

@@kitsunami7251 Hm, maybe. The wonder style is really good. So, I hope We don't get something ''too normal'' like an actual City with humans again for the next 3D one. Wonder had an amazing theme, so very surprised the 3D team weren't instructed to look into it more. Or maybe they did consider it, but as you said, time? Effort? Nevertheless, the 3D games don't ever really disappoint.
At 2:16:20 if you get all of the green puzzle pieces that build your ride, you won’t need a bubble power up for the flower coin, the ride will reach.

How can every level be so different and fun at the same time? Every Wonder-flower introduces a really cool concept and its blowing me away! For example the level where you went to space or the one where you walked on the walls. This game is fantastic! Even If I don't own a Switch it's great to see you play it Ryu!

First impression vs. the actual game can be big difference, it was for me too. The game turned out so much better than I could tell from any marketing or trailers.
I can definitely feel some massive Super Mario World feels from the map/special world. Excited to see what happens through the Special World clears!!
This was a lot of fun to watch! I'm also going to take the time to say thank you for making it just one, long, three hour video; it was actually nice to just get to lounge, and see a big chunk of content, instead of 20 minutes to an hour of play, followed by waiting a week, or something. Thanks!
It's a neat game, and while I do think it is probably better than Kirby Forgotten World, I definitely got that game vibes from this, with the little support narrator traveling along, and the different power ups you can find, and try to use through levels in different ways, as you collect set numbers of assets, to unlock the way forward.
I look forward to the next batch of this playthrough!

I am surprised Ryu didn't intuitively figure out the linking lifts around the 2 hr 12 min point. All he had to do was activate enough links to extend his platform to the right. No need for a bubble costume.

This game is pure joy. I’ve only completed World 1 so far but this game is right up there with 3 and World for me so far.

one world in and i've been blown away by every turn of every level so far... the attention to detail, the level design, the visuals, the backgrounds, the animations, the wonder effects, the soundtrack.. everything is on point, everything.. Wonder truly feels like the evolution in 2D Mario we've been waiting for for 30 yrs!
I love the design choice a lot, making an abyss with dark shadows to indicate deadliness while there is no change in lighting for secret pits
i didnt expect to watch that whole 3 hour video but gladly did, it was one of the most fun videos i've seen actually, brought me much comfort and entertainment, well f-ing done ryu:)))

Glaring difference is that those are all suits that Mario wears. While with the elephant power up, Mario actually becomes an elephant and takes in the form of an elephant.
I like the suits - I hate him turning into an actual ELEPHANT. gimme my Mario!

I'm not sure how an elephant suit is random, but tanuki, frog, cat, and penguin suits are accepted without question 🤔
The elephant actually morphs the user, it's not a costume. It honestly would fit much better in a Galaxy game instead of this sad excuse of a platformer.
It looks like a solid entry in the 2D Mario franchise, not sure where the hate for this game comes from 🤔 It is what it is 🤷♂ Mario has always been a game for kids.
@@TerryScrimsher Past titles didn't insult the players intelligence by giving them compliments every time they defeat an enemy or get a power up. The DS and Wii versions are still enjoyable and definitive experiences to this day. Nintendo is a lot larger than “just for kids” these days so that's a weak excuse.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is like a fever dream. Definitely a Mario game outdid itself on cloud 9.
I have to say, whoever arranged the soundtrack for this game has _definitely_ taken some inspiration from YT cover artists. From the 1-1 theme sounding straight out of a Smooth McGroove video to the airship theme sounding like a FamilyJules metal cover of a Mario Maker song, and I'm sure there are a couple more I missed.
Not that I'm complaining, I think that it's amazing. This music in this game is legit, and the more cool music styles they incorporate, the better.
Looking forward to the rest of this playthough. Just finished 100% myself and it's nice looking back at how you and others have experienced the game. Really looking forward to the badge marathon.
Game was pretty much everything I was hoping for. Especially the Wonder Flowers which were really creative and had gameplay that would be quite hard to implement into a Mario Maker editor. There were ideas and concepts that you don't really see other than the most creative and bonkers rom hacks. It'll be interesting to see what they do include in a future Mario Maker. Things like falling Super Stars and Shadow Mario chases can easily be available, but like the Musicals or other flowers that take the level in a radically different direction (like the stampedes or the giant snowball rolling up the level) would be really hard to offer; especially at the same level of presentation.
The only thing I was hoping for was that there would be some bonus levels and content for Yoshi to unlock so that he'd be more than just "easy-mode". Oh well, the game still delivers more than I expected.
Worth the cost? Is the game too easy?

Aahhhh Ryu missing the poplin in W1 and not talking to him and missing out on levels is killing me. He even looked at him and then left and forgot about him and you can see the levels on the world map lol

Very fun imo, i never got the chance to play even te previous games so i'll watch you playing.
And love the fact they put in some classic soundtracks from the early days, which i remember quite well.
Had the NES and SNES, played the N64 and had the oldschool gameboy and variants of it. But never had a Wii or tried the Switch.
Nintendo always has such a nice charm to their games.
