We all should have a radio like that one.
Came for the Ironman appearance, stayed for the band scans.
Just installed a 5000 mAh high quality battery in the MMR-99 DAB, this radio is incredible. The battery last very long over 40 hours and the sound is amazing for such unit. I really recommend it to everyone.
Hej nice and thanks for the info regarding battery change on the Sangean MMR-99 i have very long battery time on the orginal battery but very nice with more battery capacity on the lovley Sangean MMR-99 take care and have a nice day.
Hej Todderbert thanks for the bandscan yes i love my Sangean MMR-99 but yes it little work to change the battery but otherwise the Sangean MMR-99 is a great radio wirh a wonderful speaker great reception for me and it has very nice features take care Todderbert and have a lovely saturday.
This is the army tank of a radio 📻. The color is themed alike. And it has all the great 👍 features. It might even be shock resistant. Your friend, Jeff.
If you wrap a coil of wire around the radio and attach the ends to long lengths of wire you will be able to receive MW signals in the evening from great distances - 2,500 miles.
Good review thanks!! I'm looking for a good Bluetooth radio for my off grid cabin that must be able to plug 12volts or usb, need good reception and good sound!! I was looking at this Sangean Do you have a better option or this one is hard to beat? Thanks
It’s odd that it doesn’t show a signal strength indicator on AM, but it does on FM/WX. Just a few UI bugs like this, the lack of persistent frequency display, and the buried in the menu tuning settings that Sangean hopefully will fix.
Did I miss the comparison to the MMR 88? The 99 looks like a tank.
I didn't compare the size, but the 99 is twice as big for sure :)
I expect a lot more for $90+.
Like from Brazil 👍🇧🇷
I was disappointed when I saw this battery setup because it looks like an awesome radio. Sangean didn't think that through like you said all the cheap emergency radios with replaceable batteries and even multiple battery options. Just should have thought about that being an EMERGENCY radio!!
Will you consider doing an FM bandscan on this radio, as well?
I own this radio and cannot believe the developers of this radio did not put a battery door on this… crazy. But I like the radio..
kind of high on the price though, other radios do this at half the price but does seem it's much more receptive on AM so that might balance it out.
$90+, it doesn't have shortwave and it's so difficult to replace the battery you may have to send it in...
Sounds like a fail !!!
I definitely prefer the versatility of my C.Crane CC Solar Observer. No IP rating but I don't really care, as it has great reception and sound.
Is your C Crane Solar Observer similar to the Eton FR 300? I had one of those and liked it, but gave it to a buddy who didn't have an emergency radio. I still much prefer digital tuning to analog.

I looked up the FR300 which is discontinued. Apparently it had TV also which the Solar Observer does not. I agree that having a digital readout is a lot easier, but the Observer does a great job. I do have an ETON Elite Field radio with digital but it's not an emergency type and it's much bigger and heavier. It's a good one too.
I agree the Solar Observer is great. I use mine almost daily It is one of my favorites. It’s very receptive and sounds great. It’s an almost perfect emergency radio. I prefer the analog dial for emergency situations. Although is not likely digital displays can fail.
One question, friend todderbert, I bought one as I told you in the previous video, but I put it to charge in the sun and I don't see that the battery level rises, it has not discharged or anything but the battery level does not rise, but it does turn on the green light on my face... this is normal... I charge it in the sun for a whole day and nothing raises the battery
It is mainly to keep the battery topped off. I suggest getting a supplementary solar panel to charge it. The new iRonsnow IR-14W is capable with strong sunlight, at Amazon: amzn.to/3MVWX9H
@@todderbert wow thanks dude , i buy one this panel look so good .
Why is it 2lbs?
Large, and in Charge? It is a bit oversized for sure.
