Nice vid mate, it's interesting what you said at the end about the Minn Kota and how they feel/look tough and smooth, compared to say a watersnake. I have been thinking one day I'll end up getting one. I liked the different camera angles too!
Thanks mate. 🤙🏻 I’m glad you enjoyed it and found it somewhat useful. I had way more fun editing in the extra camera angles even though it takes longer. 😅
@@willkitching oh it so does. 😂 way better than just POV. 😂 Although sometimes that’s all you can get. Lots more to contend with when you have 2 cameras. 😅
@@BrisVegasFishing yep mate. Once you select the N heading sensor button and get to the speed you want and hit the cruise button its a class act to cruise along banks or reefs etc. Cheers
How did the anchor mode go in your opinion? Ive got the watersnake geo spot and really starting to pi55 me off! In anchor mode the stern keeps floating out and anchor mode just wants to spin the boat in circles just hoping minn kota are a bit more stable. Cheers
@BrisVegasFishing cheers for the reply, I only fish the Murray River and pick my days so it doesn't usually have much current or wind to fight. Sounds like I'm throwing another 3k at the boat haha
For minn Kota with spot lock they are! You can get the base model for under 3K. I did originally buy a water snake, because I didn’t want to spend a heap, if you haven’t already seen the install video. Long story short it was a huge waste of money ($600) at the time.
Oh most definitely worth it! 🙌 I’d say equal to having a sounder on the boat in some circumstances. You’ve got that stealth approach and spot lock is better than an anchor when you’re up a creek. There are so many advantages to having it, and in all honesty I have no regrets in spending the money.
@@ajmobilemastertechniciannu9427 sounds like you might have to go the next size up to say 60lb thrust or higher. I’d say there’s just too much drag from your 18 footer to hold you.
Very hit and miss lately cause there’s so few out there brand new. I paid $3k roughly for this one when I bought it. I’d say somewhere around that price is pretty fair though.

Mate once you use cruise control on that combined with heading sensor you won't go back. Awesome. Cheers
I’ve got the heading sensor sitting at home too. Just been to lazy to put it on. 😅 I’ll definitely look at putting that on then. Cheers. 🤙🏻

@Land Rover thanks for the advice mate. 👌 Really appreciate it and I reckon auto pilot is gonna get a lot of use. 😅

They are a lot more stable, they sometimes have a few issues with holding position. But it’s dependent on current and back eddies.

@@jed3806 hahaha uh oh more money at the boat 😂 we’re all in that boat 😅
Is this the 55lbs Terrova Riptide with the i-Pilot?
Yeah mate, it’s got the I-pilot
First things first ... are they worth 3k plus . .... my boat only cost me 5.5k !! and im considering an elec motor

@@BrisVegasFishing Are they worth it ? I’ve read some people say it’s the best boat investment ever and they wouldn’t go without it

Whats your thoughts on motorguide ix5 ? cheers
Honestly, I’ve never owned one or looked into it too much sorry 😅
@@BrisVegasFishing ok cheers.
Have you tried it with a strong tidal run and wind. how did the anchor lock go?
Yeah it’s still not too bad. The biggest issue I have is when the wind and tide is opposite, bit of a struggle. Other than that spot lock is great 👌
Hey mate do you know if the lift assist works on 2018 powerdrive I pilot
I’m pretty sure that the power drive model doesn’t come with lift assist.
It’s only the Terrova or better models from memory.
How do you operate a minn kota riptide without a remote to test
They should come with remotes inside the packaging with the motor.
have you tried it on strong current , if you have does the spot lock hold?
It holds well in heavy current. Obviously if you have quite a large boat it might not. Mine is only 4.5m and the Kota holds up fine.
@@BrisVegasFishing my boat is 18ft it holds well in the bay and slack tide but when incomming tide with strong current spot lock wont hold

Hi, can you install the troller on the stern ?
Hi, this model is a bow mount only.
You would have to buy a different model.
does the remote float ?
Honestly can’t say that I’ve tested it, it is waterproof though 💁♂️
@@BrisVegasFishing I think not... but the micro does
Ahh righto. Well there ya go, even if it did float I don’t think I’d be game enough to test it 😂
What thrust is your motor.
It’s the 55lb from memory 🤔 it’s not too bad until you get wind and current going in the same direction. 😅
Cheers good easy reveiw bro. Getting one soon wanted to have a sus on line b4 getting one. Cheak my boys flattys on his channel. Big flattys
Thanks mate. Glad it was helpful 🤙🏻 is that the name of his channel ‘big flattys’?? I’ll have to go have a look see.
