Heard the awful news we have lost a legend in Kim Simmonds , what can one say about his incredible musical journey & we can only thank him for the memories & all the great guitar work he's gave us . A big influence on most us oldies & any younger folks that only needed one listen to know how special he was. He will be missed by everyone he touched through never selling out & keeping Savoy Brown alive . Rest easy & give the man above a taste of the Blues we have come to love from those famous fingers. LEGEND !!!!

Kim Simmonds is still the most underrated guitarist around. I still remember Savoy Brown with lead singer Chris Youlden headlining the Saturday night late show at the Fillmore East and finishing the final encore of the Savoy Brown Boogie just before 6 AM on Sunday morning!!!

Totally Agree with you. Most of the best guitar players are or were underrated ( Kim Simmonds, Rory Gallagher, Mick Bloomfield, Mick Taylor, Mick Abrhams, John Cipollina, Jorma Kaukonen, the great Peter Green, etc etc) and others overrated (keith richards, even Eric Clapton and etc etc) greetings Marty. PS your name reminded me of Marty Balin. ✌

Go way back to the early days, and i've seen Savoy Brown many times. I even have a guitar pick from Simmons when he flung it into the crowd. He always had a great sounding guitar, with licks to match. I bought a Gibson Flying V because of Kim, somewhere around the late 1970's. Gonna' be missed. *R.i.P.* Kim Simmons

@@rcktblues Just don't call me late for dinner~~hahaha. I wish i could have seen Savoy Brown at the Fillmore East. A friend of mine & i hitchhiked to NYC and caught Traffic. That was the show where Graham*(R.i.P.) set up a Real NY traffic light above the stage. It was red when they were setting up, then it went to yellow when the lights were dimmed, and when the band hit the stage, it went to Green~~haha. That was so damn cool, Graham always had something special up his sleeve. We had a Blast in NY, what a character of a town!!! I'm pleased as punch we seen it around the period. Take care & Rock ()n rcktblues. Thanks for posting this.

After watching this I realized Kim was 72 years old at the time and died three years later. He was playing like a 30 year old mofo! I was lucky enough to see him around 2002. A very underated guiar player for sure. I read the cause of death was colon cancer. I can't help but wonder if he got regular screenings starting at least at age 50? So much of that disease can be preventable now. I'm on a five year schedule as polyps were found. Not going to get on a soapbox, but colonoscopies can save lives. RIP Kim.
