I will always love & fondly remember Border's here in Pittsburgh. My home away from home for many years when I wasn't working as a Registered Nurse. Spent hundreds if not thousands here every year.
Decades ago I got in trouble for trying to steal a little plant at Woolworth's, I was a kid. I am still terrified of that manager and security guard and I have never stoled anything ever again. Who steals a plant? What was I thinking? To this day when I see the name Woolworths I get nervous, lol. That plant had these little eyes glued to it... Judgemental eyes...
Woolworths. I still have barrettes i bought there in the 1970s, and some Woolworths brand crayons . My uncles took care of my grandparents and has an Oldsmobile Delta 88.
Not sure why the emphasis on Borders. Barnes & Noble was founded in 1886 and is still around. Waldenbooks was founded in 1933 but eventually purchased by Borders in 1995. Borders was only founded in 1971 but shutdown along with it's Waldenbooks assets in 2011.
Say what you will about the digital phone cameras of today, with their gazillion megapixel clarity. But film camera photography offers a unique color, quality, and look that you just can't get with digital processing. Of course you can photoshop the dickens out of a picture to get any look you want, but it just isn't the same.
I remember when I bought a record album but when I got it home I found out that all that was in the box was a blank disc with no music, no center hole. No label on the disk. I took it back and they gave me a new one.
My childhood town had a Ben Franklin store . I remember when I brought a comic book and I was a dime short of money. The clerk said I could take the book and bring the money when I was able. I walked home in the rain, got the dime and walked back to the store in the rain and paid for the book. It impressed the clerk so much that I remember it to this day. Most of the stores I shop at know that I won’t steal anything and they often let me have stuff that they should take to the checkout counter for me but they know I will never shoplift! 😊
Which brand do you miss the most?
The Borders near my college is where I went to hide from everything when I was stressed or depressed by that cesspool. I still miss it.

Ranging Kodak, Compaq and Showbiz Pizza, Ken-L in one row seems wrong in many ways. But I upvoted.

My favorite dime store was Grants
Ben Franklin
It’s pronounced “Wicks” not Wikies. 😂. They sold quality furniture. Shame they went out of business.

It’s a shame that real people don’t narrate these videos anymore.
