Once commonplace in the United States, today Los Angeles is by far the largest and one of the last American cities to provide free and freely repaired musical instruments to its public schoolchildren, a continuous service since 1959. From Academy Award®-nominated directing duo Ben Proudfoot and Kris Bowers, The Last Repair Shop grants an all access pass to the nondescript downtown warehouse where a dwindling handful of devoted craftspeople keep over 80,000 student instruments in good repair.

Music is like Magic. It's a Gift that keeps on giving.
Composing music, performing music and loving an instrument are what elevates humans to another level. Sharing your talent with others so they can appreciate music is such a gift, and I believe that learning to play can make a wonderful difference in a person's life. This documentary touched my soul. Bravo to the individuals who repair the instruments and make them whole again. I am certain it makes the students' lives whole, too.
Love it! Our daughter is starting college in the fall with a focus in Music Ed, all because someone encouraged them to try instruments in the 4th grade. They have been using the trumpet ever since and BLOOMS when playing!

Disney says here is a film and lets sprinkle a little gay on it! Why can't it just be about the kids getting their instruments and the repairing of them? Don't waste your time on this!

It's not a waste of time at all! Several individuals shared their experiences that brought them to loving and appreciating music and why they are inspired to help children feel that too. Absolutely beautiful.

Tried to watch it. Couldn't get past the first five minutes. I thought the focus was going to be on the repair shop, it's services, and the lives they"ve impacted. They started going into a story about some guy"s early struggles with being gay. There's an audience for everything. But this wasn't for me.
The profiles of each person who repairs the instruments greatly influenced why they were so passionate about repairing them. It was crucial to the story. It’s unfortunate it triggered you.
