I also wished there was a reference pair, regardless of the price. Like AirPod Pros. That way, we could judge if we should chose a relatively cheap buds or save for a more expensive one.

I'm using Freebuds pro 3 Chinese version, so I first received the new Harmony 4.2.0.210 firmware since last week.
firmware 4.0.0.196, ANC_Adaptive changed frequently and felt unstable, but now it is stable and always feels powerful.
Ambient recording mode provides better noise floor reduction and increases bass output on the sound side, now providing an even cleaner sound with better bass punch and increased sense of space. It's perfect now

Two important aspects what would be nice to cover / let us know what you think
Occlusion: how do you hear yourself when talking? In case of many pricey earbuds you hear yourself in a shell/ in your own skull when talking which is irritating if you are on the phone regurarly - basically unbearable
For example az80 killed me with that
Also can u use anc during calls to cut out the environment but still hear yourself in a natural way unlike hearing yourself “compressed”? Because that would be the main point in a loud office: hear only your call partner and yourself just like w/o earbuds

These are good points to add to the comparison review for overall voice call quality experience.
Just trying to think how this can be done so you as the viewer would be able to get a sense of these two experiences you mentioned and the magnitude of differences between competing TWS Earbuds, similar to how you can hear and reproduce for yourself my voice call quality comparisons, rather than me trying to describe my own experience.
Will think about it more and see if I can incorporate properly into future reviews.

The 'NOTHING Ear' he's testing is actually the NOTHING ear "3" -- the company just decided to confuse everyone with the naming.
Are freebuds only good on some devices or quality?
I've tried on mobile and pc and had them be reported to sound crap before.
Once I had a tap running and it made me sound muffled but surely it can handle that?

The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 are equally excellent for microphone voice call quality on PC, Android and iOS.
Unfortunately, I can't comment on HUAWEI Smartphone as I don't own one, but if that is what you own, but I'm fairly certain the microphone voice call quality will be equally as excellent.
I have also tested many other TWS Earbuds (and Professional Headsets) on PC, Android and iOS devices, and they sound terrible under loud background noise, in comparison to the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3, some that are similar to what is heard in this comparison video where they let all the background noise in, and some that attempt to cancel these noises make it sound distorted, un-natural and in many cases muffled, as heard many of my previous videos.
Some notable examples of terrible voice call quality in noisy conditions are Sony WF-1000XM5, Bose QC Ultra Earbuds. Jabra Elite 10, Technics EAH-AZ80, Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen and Denon PerL Pro sound marginally better than Sony or Bose, but still miles behind HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3, no matter if connected to PC, Android or iOS phone.
Only the Dell WL7024 Premier Wireless ANC Headset sounds equal to the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3, and the EPOS Impact 1061 ANC Headset is better and the King of Voice Call Quality due to the AI + Noise Cancellation Boom Mic.

Based on all my comparison tests so far, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 have the best Voice Call Quality, beating out even more expensive TWS Earbuds from Sony, Bose, Technics, Denon and Sennheiser as well as equally expensive Jabra, Samsung and Apple TWS Earbuds as well as mid range and budget TWS Earbuds from soundcore, NOTHING, Beats, OnePlus and Motorola.

I could not find a new soundcore Liberty 4s model released in 2024, that I could add to this comparison for sub-$150 TWS Earbuds released in 2024.
I have the soundcore Sleep A20 that was released on April 16 2024, but that does not have any microphone given it's designed only for sleeping.
And both the soundcore Liberty 4 and soundcore Liberty 4 NC where released on October 4 2022 and June 29 2023 respectively, thus they do not qualify for this review for TWS Earbuds released in 2024.
However, I did review the 2022 soundcore Liberty 4 last year in this review against the Beats Studio Buds+ and the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 and the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3. Check it out!

While I have taken or made calls on a few occasions while biking next to busy streeet with HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 and other TWS Earbuds talking to friends or family, unfortunately, trying to conduct voice call quality comparisons using this method is not good for getting consistently reproducible results, even with the same TWS Earbuds.
For example, one day there may be less wind and or traffic, which would make one TWS Earbuds microphone voice call quality sound better at that specific time, than another TWS Earbuds you're comparing even 1 minute later.
There are too many variables for a fair comparison unfortunately.

They jacked the price up almost $100 on these on Amazon. The cheapest ive seen them was $245 highest $265

Which TWS Earbuds are you referring to?
I'm assuming it's the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3, which I've always seen on Amazon US website between $245 - $265.
The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 were just used for reference, to see how these 3 sub-$150 category Earbuds released in 2024, compare to our reference champion for Voice Call Quality the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3.
Although the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 are older since they were released in 2023 and are sub-$250 category Earbuds, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 have beating other equally or more expensive Earbuds (ie. Sennheiser, Technics, Sony, Denon, etc..) in other comparisons as mentioned @9:47, so it's possible for cheaper TWS Earbuds to beat more expensive TWS Earbuds in Voice Call Quality.

@@alexmackey335 I don't own a HUAWEI Smartphone but from what I saw from another reviewer that owns one, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 have the capability to record HD audio recordings up to 20kHz (eg. like recording HD Voice Memos or Video Recording) when paired over Bluetooth with your HUAWEI Smartphone.

Keep in mind this is NOT for Voice Phone Calls, only for 1 way audio recording as mentioned above.
So Voice Call Quality even with the HUAWEI Smartphones is exactly the same as with Android, iOS and PC, since they all use the standard Bluetooth HFP/HSP Profile and the mSBC audio codec.
