When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. @@animaxindustries Batman begins was also a kind of a flop at the box office but the positive buzz it generated ensured Nolan continued with the sequel. I think this could happen for this too. The buzz is there, Disney should tap into it and make money.

animaxindustries Check out doc ido on yt. Insiders at Fox just cornfirmed that the break even is more like 350 mil. Considering that dvds etc will gross around 40 mil. This movie is already in profit.

Alita is the most intense character I've seen on film this generation, so human despite of the big eyes and been CGI and cyborg and out of a manga. Impressive!!!
I've never thought that they made this movie out of the Manga series I've seen the live action remade of Bleach after the manga series is over.

The strong don't "prey on the weak", and in fact would be better off if the weak didn't even exist. In reality its the weak and lazy that feel entitled to the fruits of other's labor, and its them that need the strong and hard working. This redistribution ideology appeals to the very young that haven't entered the workforce yet, see the fruits of a lifetime of labor produced by their parents and their parent's peers and feel like it should belong to them. When they get older and are harvesting the apples from the apple tree that they planted and tended to for twenty years, and some kids come by perhaps not even from their country and start eating all the apples off their apple tree they start to feel different. This is the REAL divide and the reason that young people and stay at home moms tend to be left and people that have been in the workforce for 10+ years are almost always right.
Best photorealistic character, unique storyline, best fight sequences, semi-deep romance that adds to the drama. What more do you want from a movie. This is defenitely not your casual Friday night movie, it's a masterpiece

Alita Battle Angel, a great movie!!!
This was one of the best movies I've seen in a really long time. The animation and visual effects were top-notch, and it had a fantastic storyline, but the biggest appeal was, of course, the character of Alita. Rosa Salazar's voicing, combined with outstanding animation, brought Alita to life. Her eyes and facial expressions elicit incredible, dynamic range of emotion, and she projected the perfect balance of complete bad-assery and vulnerability. Alita stole my heart from her very first scene.
I was never interested in the movie due to her eyes (I know), but saw it on the plane and now I NEED SEQUEL TO IT.
Well, if you've read the source material....I mean, let's just say you're gonna need some anti depressants when it's all said and done xD.
Buy it on digital (iTunes, Google, Play, CZcams, Hulu etc) or wait for the Blu-Ray on July 23. That's a way to support a sequel. A LOT OF PEOPLE is like you, because of that this movie don't make the money it deserved.

I just love Alita's immediate change from "I'm ready to fight!" to "... ohshit."
Since I live in New York City, which has the largest IMAX screen of the US (AMC Lincoln Square 13, on Broadway), I was fortunate to watch Alita Battle Angel, not only on that IMAX, but also in 3D. This has one of the greatest, most satisfying movie experiences, ever!
What a rush! You were not watching something 3D in front of you, you were part of the scene. AMAZING!

This movie has one of best CGIS ever. It works cause it did not try to hide the cgi, or pretend there's no cgi, but actually welcome it, in the right manner.

Just saw Alita - Battle Angel, I've been waiting over a year for this and was not disappointed. As I drove home from the movie theater absorbing what I'd just seen I became overwhelmed with emotions. Half the reviewers shat on this movie because of a few reasons, but those reasons don't knock this off the artistic pedestal I've put it on. For a movie based on Manga, Anime, and involving cyborgs and the United Republics of Mars, Alita speaks to the human condition in ways that need to be addressed. From the damage of corruption (Lobbying in the U.S.) to being drawn to violence, to the quest for love and identity, to the struggle to find one's place in the world, Battle Angel addresses these subjects with a much needed level of empathy that carries this movie beautifully. Though there were a few differences between Alita and the Anime that I saw many years ago, they didn't take away from what made that story great & important. A layered and richly textured movie, Alita - Battle Angel is so much more than CGI karate and explosions. The caste system at play in Alita's world exploits the poor with false promises of riches and a better life, but only if those poor people are essentially willing to sacrifice themselves in the process and kill one another, the most treacherous of which may get a chance at the wealth that supposedly exists in the city in the sky. This rings all too familiar in the world the youth of today are growing up in. The sad fact that any piece of media that attempts to address our international class struggle gets shot down is a testament to the power of corruption, selfishness, and greed in our world. The themes of Alita - Battle Angel stand against those forces, and for that, its probably one of the more important movies out right now. Simultaneously inspiring & heartbreaking. 👍👍👏😭

The first time I saw the trailer, more than a year before the movie premiered, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. More than 15 years after Cameron bought the rights to Battle Angel Alita... this insignificant graphic novel... it was finally coming to the big screen. Such joy. And the song, Lullaby for a Soldier, captured the melancholy of the story so perfectly. I was moved. Those that know the manga know what I'm saying. This is not a typical Hollywood hero arc with humorous moments and happy endings. This is much more, Alita is much more, complex. The film only gave a glimpse. There will be moments of pain and devastating loss but all in service to the journey and growth of Alita. And what growth my brothers and sisters. Now if only the sequels get made.

Wonderful movie
Saw this on release and sprang for the imax. So worth it. One of the last great genre movies. Far superior to most Marvel and DC. Man, that scene in the under city when she says to Grewishka “F*ck your mercy” was incredible. You just felt such a surge of intensity and the movie elevated even further with the perfect amount of serious edge without necessarily going all Voerhoven on us..lol
