  • (Since I'm too lazy to do a proper "trailer" for this channel, I decided to simply post a slideshow of randomly played thumbnails for my videos, accompanied by some of my favorite musical themes from the games in question - you'll probably recognize the Witcher and Mass Effect ones, but might have a harder times with the older ones, heh. As for the description of the channel, I decided to simply add it here in text format. More reading, less watching for a change.]
Hello and welcome to ST. GEORGE'S GAMES! This channel is about one thing and one thing only: deeply immersive playthroughs of story-driven video games stretching across more than four decades of PC gaming history. I originally set it up back in 2019 after searching for a long time all over CZcams and still not finding precisely what I wanted.
Most of the existing gaming channels fall into two categories: "Let's Play.."-type "blind" playthroughs from new players or "walkthroughs" that help struggling players beat the game.
While there is nothing wrong with either of these formats, they leave practically no space for those few of us who occasionally enjoy a "movie-like" perspective to gaming, valuing atmosphere and immersion over achievements, or are interested in uncovering a game's full potential, be it for aesthetic, historical, or simply personal purposes.
This channel is designed for people who just want to refresh their fond (or not so fond) memories of a great (or not so great) game, without having to listen to overdubbed Twitch-style commentary,
but being able to see and hear as much of the game's content as possible, including lots of small details that casual players typically overlook.
Formally speaking, all of these videos are "longplays", oriented at capturing all that extra juicy dialog and action, or sometimes showing easily missed alternate choices and solutions. You can use them as substitutes if you are unable to play yourself, be it for financial, technological, or other personal reasons, or simply to relive an older experience without extra hassle.
As you can see, my main preference lies with "old school" adventure games, both of the long-gone parser-based or still existing point-and-click variety, but I also enjoy playing and recording classic RPGs and action-adventure titles, as long as there is good story and/or compelling atmosphere involved therein. On the whole, I like to think of St. George's Games as a "museum" of sorts, not unlike the same rarely frequented used books store in "Gabriel Knight", after which the channel has been expectedly named.
I have actually invested quite a bit of heart and soul in it, and, for that matter, this has never been and never will be about "monetization", only about pure love and care for the medium itself. (For instance, I always strive to leave all the original game music intact, regardless of any annoying copyright claims on what is simply fair use practice). It is possible anyway that with all the technology advances and stuff, many of these wonderful games shall eventually remain in video memory only, so the channel is basically a humble contribution to the future.
I hope you enjoy and/or find useful at least some of the videos, and if you do, feel free to also check out my little website on which I have written detailed reviews for some of these titles, also called "St. George's Games" [active link is in the video description].
    Thanks for watching!
