- More sightseeing in Delhi, India as I visited Humayun's Tomb.
This is the building that was the inspiration for the Taj Mahal 100 years later.
After the 2nd Mughal emperor, Humayun, passed away, his wife ordered this massive tomb to be constructed. A building so big and beautiful that it resembles more of a luxury palace than a man's resting place.
The grounds surrounding the tomb are beautiful and well maintain with manicured grass lawns and stone paths. This place is a must for tourists in Delhi. A huge respite from the chaos of the city. I visited during 'golden hour' - what photographers call the last hour before sunset and it really was stunning with the low sun directly hitting the front face of the tomb full on.

I enjoyed this place more than Taj Mahal. The building and surroundings are a little less impressive than Taj Mahal but not having to deal with crowds of people made it a more enjoyable experience.

Also visit states like Gujrat , Bengal , Maharashtra , Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh ( specially Shimla ) and North-east states fir having a look at different sides of India ❤️👍🏻

The back story on all these taj mahal and tombs is that at some point of in history there were temples or homes of rich traders in the golden age of India. But because of continues invasions and stuff things kept breaking and no one repaired them. Which on arrival of Persian empire rulers who destroyed some part of north India and after them the next wave came of the islamic moguls empire who completely uprooted the civilization rebuilt these structures and turned them into places of Islamic religious importance. This was also the period when many locals were killed and that's why there isn't much information of who is who in these tombs.

Finally you visited 2/3 of UNESCO world heritage sites in Delhi. The main is Red Fort and it is the place India declared their independence Day. Most importantly at the edge of the fort their is an old arch bridge which leads to Bahadur Shah's gate. If you enter it you'll find Salimgarh fort.
