  • This technique takes practice! Don't be sad if you can't get it on the first try because I didn't either when I was a student.
    I have watched a ton of videos when I was a student about self/closed gloving techniques and honestly, I didn't learn anything! To truly know how to do this, you must practice! PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! No one gets it for the first time so don't be too hard on yourself. I really hope I kinda gave you guys a snippet on how to do it. Don't forget!
    MARKINGS POINTING TO THE GLOVE YOU'RE PUTTING ON.
    THUMB ON RIGHT.
    THUMB ON LEFT.
    FLIP.
    I swear to you...it's easy! But need practice!
    Thank you guys so much for watching! Omg we have 6k+ members here. I only have 2 friends in real life so this is insanity haha.

    Girllllll...I was taught “ thumb to thumb.” Then pull glove up and over hand. It’s worked for me😬

    Awesome thanks for that! Do you double glove as well? And those gloves seem thin so do you prefer and thinner or thicker glove?

    • @SURGICALTECHGEEK
      @SURGICALTECHGEEK  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, double always. I like thick under, thin under. Specifically eclipse on top

    In my school they dont let you have that white part being hanging like that, you have to kinda hide it in your hand so that makes it even more difficult 😞

    • @SURGICALTECHGEEK
      @SURGICALTECHGEEK  Před rokem

      Correct. You can't expose it but this is for demonstration obviously I'm not sterile ❤️

    Please explain double glove a little. The second pair goes over or under the ones you just put on? Are they sterile too? Thanks so much, love it.

    • @SURGICALTECHGEEK
      @SURGICALTECHGEEK  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, all of this is sterile but for this video purposes, it's not sterile.

      Most techs will double glove because you can contaminate the outer glove and just change it and still be sterile, which happens more than you think during draping, instrument tray sterility checking etc.... Also, it is a good indicator if you punctured your outer gloves, ie, most will put on a Blue PI inner glove and a white PI glove outer, that way you can tell if you tore/punctured your outer glove because you can see the blue through it.

    Have you experienced your hands feeling kinda numb while you're double gloved? I think I may need to wear a size 7 on the inside and 6.5 on the outside?

    • @SURGICALTECHGEEK
      @SURGICALTECHGEEK  Před 3 lety

      Yes! I wear 7 under, 6 top. I did 7 and 6.5 but my hands swells and I can't feel anything.

    With the gloves you don't lose too much sensitivity during surgery you work well?

    • @SURGICALTECHGEEK
      @SURGICALTECHGEEK  Před 3 lety +1

      You do lose sensitivity. Great question. So then you'd have to pick thinner and stickier gloves.

    how about open gloving? which one you prefer ?

    • @SURGICALTECHGEEK
      @SURGICALTECHGEEK  Před 3 lety

      Open glowing is when you're not wearing a gown. Most of the time we were a gown.

    • @stephenprice3357
      @stephenprice3357 Před 2 lety

      to me open gloving is harder because at least with closed gloving you can grab the gloves with the cuffs of the gown which are also sterile.
