    Took A+ in 2003 and failed it. Never try and after years of being tired of doing dead end job I Went back to get myself certified. Got My A+, Network+, Server+ Security+ and CCNA. Got job at Data center which pay way more and now I am doing Network monitoring. It is not too let to go back where you left off and stand up again. I graduate High school in 2004 and I was totally committed in 2016. Yes, that long but I am happy where I am now. Now the problem with some people is that they do not know how to leverage their IT and Certification to moved to next level. Learn everything at your first IT job and leverage that to move to the next level. English is my Second language which make people think that I was not qualified but I made it. So if English is your first language you got more clout then other people. Most of the job posted are more about if those people are comfortable talking to you. With English being second I understand those people passing me over for people who were not qualified but English was their first language. Some of those people have no clue about IP addressing or computers for that matter but they were preferred hire. So learn how to leverage your skills for the next job. I am now old and my mind sometime wonder but my job is so easy I can even study while working but my brain is on vacation most of the time. So get in while young. If you are older you are still better off getting that job.

      @@ITLumberjack I am actually back in school. I just finished my AS Computer Science, and now I am focusing on getting into Cyber. TestOut is very complete. It has labs, videos, quizes, and practice exams. I enjoyed it. I haven't taken the A+, so I don't know how accurate it is. I also got the CompTIA A+ (220-1101) Core 1 Practice Exams *New for 2023* in Udemy. Some things are easy, but there are some things that are pretty new. That is why we need to get in as much practice as possible.

    Now I am switching back to IT , which will be my 3rd career move because AV is great but takes me away from Home for Days and Weeks ,and I want to be with my family more so, doing this will allow me to do that after I finish my AV Production life.... Currently studying for my 1101 at the moment. I took all of them back in 2010, 11. Barely failed the 602 but passed the 601, network + and security +. There way old and retired 😆. Trying to find a better carrer 👍. Nothing wrong with hearing other peoples experiences with the tests and getting some feedback

    • @generalsifr2995

      In 2003 it was only one test and Windows XP was not even in my book. We have to get appendix to the book. I really wish I took it seriously then. It was easy getting It job if you got any certification. Now more people are fighting for the same jobs but if you got certificate you got more clout than others. Take cabling jobs if you are near data centers. I am in Virginia and it look like we are Data Centerville down here. I used my Data center to get Network Monitoring job which will open door for real Network Engineering.

      Most definitely @chriss2082 . That’s the motivation behind these videos. We all learn in different ways and we all come from different backgrounds. Sometime it’s helpful to hear someone else’s experience. Thank you for sharing your story.

      @ITLumberjack  Před rokem +1

      @generalsifr2995 I know guys who have adopted a similar mentality and have ultimately been pretty successful in their careers. The guys I know who start off on a cabling crew and would start learning networking. Shortly after they would earn a CCNA and that would be all she wrote.
      In most cases I’ve seen it doesn’t take long to move up if your motivated.

    Was the core 1 very difficult? I take core 1 next Wednesday. There seems to be an insane amount of material to learn

    • @ITLumberjack
      @ITLumberjack  Před rokem

      It is a lot of material for sure but it is passable. As far as difficulty I have taken certification test that are much worst. In my experience with CompTIA I have never come across an answer that I didn’t think was fair. That meaning there Q & A are pretty clear if you know the material. Also they follow the exam objectives to a T. That’s why I always stress getting printing them off and making notes of strengths and weaknesses.
      Here are my top tips for CompTIA test taking.
      - Flag questions your unsure of
      - Do the labs last. I don’t even read them. They can be intimidating and I always like to go into multiple choice with confidence. You can flag the labs and go back.
      - Take all of the time you need.
      That’s what works for me. Everyone is different.
      Good luck on Wednesday! If you don’t mind let me know how it goes.

    • @ITLumberjack
      @ITLumberjack  Před 2 měsíci

      @believeume122 Retrospectively I could see how one may feel like it’s bragging but that wasn’t my intention. I wanted to convey the message that although this certification is an entry level exam, it’s still challenging regardless of your skill level. A+ has a reputation of being easy and it’s not.
