Man... i was asked 1800$ when right door literally felt off bc rollers went worn-out. I watched a video, ordered new rollers , 30 min of elbow grease and fixed. I didn't knew about the cable thing. It just broke when the door felt off. Great video. Short and precise information, exactly what we need.
I had a door fall off to haha I totally understand glad I could help
Thank you so much for posting this!!!! I ordered and replaced the Right and Left side for $30 from eBay. You saved me a lot of time, $$$$ and effort. Each side works great manually. No more resetting the fuses to get them to work. The last straw was when the rollers on the left side broke off and I had to carefully hold it up and slide it to close. I found your video and within 2 weeks all is well again and both doors work excellent again albeit manually. No complaints here though! Good job :-)
Awesome! Glad to hear! There were no videos on this when I did it to my 2nd gen and once I figured it out it was awesome! They work so well manually and I prefer it! I wanted to show an in-depth video but my wife wrecked the van so I didn't get around to it 😫!
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to do this.
The 4th generation center rollers are the big $$$ motivation for us to make our doors manual. Crazy expensive replacement for the power door models to buy OEM center rollers because you have to get the micro chip with it because of a design change. 2,000+ to fix both doors center rollers 😵👻 THANK YOU for sharing cause I can’t find anyone else taking about this solution.
Thank you for making this this is something I’ve wanted to ever sense the power doors stoped working
I’m having an issues with the doors not staying shut (latched). Any recommendations??
My door is shut and won't open even a hair. I'm not sure how to get it open again. I don't know if a roller is binding or a latch isn't opening at the right time
Please take it apart so we fans can see it better. Thanks pal
this is a good full explanation. especially regarding the fuse pull after this job is done. czcams.com/video/uvBHPddJWjo/video.html
U can put painters tape on the piece.its eaSy on and off no scratch.
Hey brother I have a problem with my driver side door it won’t open how can I open it
Can you snip the cables without taking off the rollers or will that not work?
Thank you for the video! Did you ever remove the motors for the power doors or no?
Thanks for the video. Can I just cut the cable and pull it through?
Yes! You are welcome!
I have an 02. They come and go. Made a few repairs since 06. Thinking about doing this. Don't want to buy more parts and I'm lazy.
Im also a technician, a tired of buying parts technician.
I freaking hear you! I constantly have issues with my yukon, my f250 and now my stupid van is having a issue with power from the battery. This is like the 3rd time now!! I'm just fed up. I'm tired of having to always buy more parts and try and fix it myself.
@@319speed My odyssey has a little over 344,000. Been real good. If you can ignore the 3 trans that been put in it. Never been in the engine, only timing stuff and a leaky valve cover.
Had a 96 Accord 367,000 miles, original clutch. Biggest job on it was intake gasket.
I baby cars, I gotta make them last.
@@JonathanWhoever mine only has 159k I had a 02 with 267k trans finally died and I didn't want to fix it cuz the body was rough. I kept the engine tho
@@319speed I put a trans in my daughter's Element........And forgot the torque converter o-ring! I was so pissed at myself.
@@JonathanWhoever oh no!
I wish you had taken the video of you actually doing this...... You said if anyone wants the video... Well I do!! Currently I can't even open the left sliding door manually or power assisted... Not from inside not from outside🤔 love the manual sliding doors anyway. Nothing more satisfying than slam/rolling those doors shut after loading all your crap inside
How does a passenger open the sliding door from the inside after the change to manual?
By the handle...
@@319speed Thanks. I wasn't sure if the handle would open the door from the inside once the power was shut off. That is good to know should I decide to go with the manual operation.
You can actually shut off the power on the dash and it will work. You have to cut the cables that move the door or you won't be moving them much. The handle inside does open it.
You should do this as a side business will make good $😊
Can you tell me where you got the replacement roller parts?
Amazon is where you can find them. You have to do some digging if I remember right. I always get the main rollers as a pair because they can break to easy. I'll see if I can get a link.

This should get you to the Amazon link if you copy and paste. These will work as long as you have the same generation as mine.
I have a 2011 Odyssey. Is this the same generation?@@319speed
Would this work with 4th gen too?
If it's set up the same way then yes I assume it would. I've never worked on one so I can't tell you from personal experience. It worked on my 2nd gen and this 3rd gen. Take the fuse out for the doors if you do.
I do I'm a seeing person to learn
6:28 I like the manual doors better.
Me to
The way it's holding in for so long; means it's sticking inside.
The fuse are what’s making the door still pull in, there’s still a little bit of power in the auto locks…. Good video
I fucking appreciate this so much
Sorry it's not more in depth. Hope you get the idea at least.
So basically the only thing you had to do was cut that cable?
Yes and turn the doors off but most the time the hinges are junk to
@319speed I have a 2005 Honda Odyssey I bought, 1 door opens manually extremely easily with the handle. ( I like this )
The other opens with Auto door, but it messes up a lot, and I have to turn the door to Manuel and actually close it myself, which is extremely hard.
Now I want this door to be as easy as the other one. Turning to slide button off doesn't make the door easy to open or removing the fuse done.
Why is 1 door super easy and the other one is near impossible, how can I make my 2nd door easy to open.
That is my problem, so you think I cut the cable and ill be fixed?
Did you just cut it and pull it through,
Grease the hell out of those nylon wheels on top, that should have been all metal bearings.
on my 2002 Odyssey they are plastic on top. Completely worn out and gone on both sides because we have kids and used them a lot. Dumb idea Honda. Getting grease up in there is possible but you have to be aware of it and we were certainly not aware. We have several other issues with this vehicle and wish we had never bought it including bad transmission. Years ago several trips to the dealership and other mechanic.
The rear door does not open from the inside. Ironically it has a lock button on it and no one knows what it's for because there is no latch to open the door for emergency. The glass does not open and cannot be opened and there is no hack option.
As is the same problem with the side doors. How do children get fresh air? The front windows will not open when the car is off unless you put the key in all the way to the on position. None of the chargers in the vehicle work with the key off.
Then the rear door lock quit and I had to exit the vehicle to manually unlock it with the key. The alarm continue to go off and mostly because I accidentally hit the like button on my driver's door with my elbow. And if you're sitting in your car for a period of 5 or 10 minutes it will set the alarm. So I disconnected my horn and I'm waiting for someone to show me how to remove the entire alarm system.
Odyssey sucks. The transmission would have cost us $3,500. We sold it for salvage.
Where is the American transportation department inspectors on this stuff.
