The main difference that games have a giant pushback is because of how games works. It isn't a media that you just consume whitout thinking, games force you to weight your choises, memorize combos/builds and think when is the best time to use them, learn new techniques to better yourself, etc. They are going against a public that in most part can think really well for themselves.

Theres tons of episodes of shows from the mid 2000s that very explicitly imply that violent videogames turn kids into serial killers. Completely unironically.

In Arizona for example he won by about 90,000 votes, it's not impossible that Gamergate (and by extension the Internet meme campaign for Trump) got 90,000 people in Arizona to vote when they wouldn't have otherwise. For reference 90,000 is about 3.5% of total votes in AZ that year. But Gamergate definitely wasn't why he had so much support, that's from the 2008-2009 crash and general dissatisfaction in blue collar America for decades of Federal government policy.

I am a casual gamer these days but I may still upload some videos. I could say I have had experiences where men wanted me to be gay and turning them down by telling them I am straight and not interested made some of them angry. Especially this one gorilla of a foreman who threatened my job security if I didn't. I still turned him down and tried to file harassment but that's another story. I would rather be honest and not mislead anyone because to me that's worse. I never understood people not taking being turned down well. I don't waste my energy on hating what isn't my preference. If you find happiness with someone good for you. As for me I am no longer eligible at all while treating on immune suppresants. I used to be a contender haha. Now I am something else. The love of my life used to put bandages on my back and encourage me to find better treatments. She passed away too soon from surgical complications. But anyway I am rambling on again.

If I were the head of a government security agency and someone suggested we take a closer look at gamers as potential terrorists I would swiftly promote that individual to the unemployment line with all due haste along with a barrage of very unflattering things to say about their character and their lineage.

The whole thing started in 1984 due to some game that was supposed to let you play Jack the Ripper and that was with a power of a Commodore 64.

I don't know if you're aware or not shad, but letter agencies infiltrating gamer stuff isn't anything new. back after 9/11 there was a surprising amount of effort in infiltrating world of Warcraft to observe potential extremist groups. there's a lot of documentation about it that was released a while back that really goes into all the things that went on with the FBI and the like.
