    Interesting to see the relatively short stretches of single line. Could now do with both lines returning, to expedite the timetable increases. Wonder who was intellectual giant of rail infrastructure planning who managed this? Even put the single track in the centre of the permanent way to ensure the maximisation of work to make it dual again. Tsk, tsk ...

      At the time patronage was on a downward spiral not like the explosion in numbers we have seen since. We could certainly use that second track today. 👍😊

    Thanks for sharing. I've been trying to find location of Redesdale branch.

    • @driver667
      @driver667  Před 9 měsíci

      I've only ever seen one photo of Redesdale Junction station taken in the 1930's. Wooden building on the up platform, looks like a small shed waiting room on the down platform, ramped ends on both platforms and looks like they are wooden faced. Hand gates on the crossing with the station on the immediate up side of the crossing. The photo is taken from the van of the train to Redesdale looking back after departure. 👍😊

    Was there once an actual station at Redesdale Junction or just the junction of the Redesdale branch?

      @@driver667yea just tried to do a search myself. Been along there many times and I know the old branch followed the tree line away from the main line but never knew a station was there.

    Until I started watching your videos, I didn’t know Victoria had so many railway lines 😊. Do you know when that tunnel was built. It looks pretty old

      The line between Melbourne and Bendigo was opened in October 1862, so the tunnel is very old.

      The N class has a 645 - 12 cylinder diesel engine made by EMD, a division of General Motors. Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😊

    Why , why. why was the line single tracked between Kineton and Bendigo, IMO that was the stupidest political decision in the history of this state.

      I completely agree, I’ve even gone into Melbourne and suggested to them to duplicate it between Kyneton and Bendigo.
      They’ve told me that they’re looking at business cases for this.
      I say, hurry up and duplicate.
