Lead singer Michael Paulson originally started a Danish black metal band called Dominus. He growled in virtually every song. Completely different style. Lead guitarist Rob Caggiano was originally a guitarist for anthrax. Drummer John Larsen has been with Michael since the beginning. And bassist Kasper Boye Larsen joined in 2016. The song deals with Michael moving into an old house and experiencing supernatural occurrences. It’s an original song. Btw Guns and Roses did a completely different song with the same name.
He ends some of his lines with that familiar James Hetfield “yeaaaaah” because he has always been a huge Metallica fan.

Growl....Wanted to mention Dominus, but saw this
Early Volbeat was described as Elvis Metal and you can hear a bit Elvis in the vocals. Love Volbeat and no studio engineering in the vocals, they're also one of the best live bands around.

Volbeat never disappoints
I was disappointed by Seal The Deal and RRR despite enjoying a handful of songs from those, overall they fell flat as albums imo. Servant Of The Mind was more of what I was looking for from the band, the riffs and energy were back (although I would’ve kept Wait a Minute… and Dagen For off it, they’re distractingly out of place)
Before starting Volbeat, Michael Poulsen was the vocalist in the deathmetal band Dominus. They made 4 albums and 2 demos before disbanding and it was only after this that Michael tried "singing" so no classical training.
Best danish band EVER... and being from Denmark my self I have been to A LOT of Volbeat shows... They are AWSOME live... And he's woice live is like heaven to a girls ears 😊
Btw although Volbeat’s catalog is quite large, one of my favorites is a song called “Cheapside Sloggers”. Damn near one of their best. So now I’ll just hound you mercilessly to react to that. Thanks guys!

"I've never heard him growl". Well the lead singer Michael Poulsen used to be in a death metal band before Volbeat. You can hear some nice growling in the demo version of their song "Evelyn". Can definitely recommend it!
"Sad man's tongue" is a must from them
Love Volbeat! Saw them with Slipknot back in 2019 I believe it was and although it wasn't the first song from them I heard but, the one that got me started down the Volbeat rabbit hole was "Doc Holliday". Great song from an even greater album! Great choice and, as always, great reaction fellers!

The metal elitists love to hate on Volbeat, but they are an excellent band with a ton of versatility. One of my favorite bands. And yes, Michael's voice is fantastic
The For Evigt chorus is not german : Volbeat is a danish band , and the singer singing the chorus in For evigt is Johan Olsen , he is not a member off Volbeat , but another great danish band called Magtens Korridorer, the singer off Volbeat Michael is doing the english part !

I’d recommend 7 Shots by Volbeat from the Beyond Hell Above Heaven album. It’s pretty epic. They also do a pretty awesome cover of Don’t Tread On Me.

Best in the business. Tragically underrated for a long time now. Metal elitists don’t like them because he sounds too good and doesn’t growl. But I don’t think he cares! They aren’t about being pigeonholed, they just make really good music that fits in several genres and no genres. Funny thing is, he used to growl when he was “singer” in death metal band “ Dominus”. I’m glad he switched,,, he’s way too talented for that crap!!!
