  • The story of the father in the cave rings all throughout the Sorrows within the Zion Canyon, about a mythical man who would look after everyone who lived in the area, caring for them and rewarding their life styles. But behind that myth is a real man who during and after the great war found himself trapped within this area and forced to survive on his own.
    This man would be known as Randall Clark, the Survivalist and would document his journey up until his death. But sadly, his journey would be filled with many tragedies that would shape his outlook on life and help him become The Father who looked after those who lived in the area.
    In today's video, we look at the sad tale of Randall Clark and how he became known as The Father In The Cave.

      Excellent video. Most detailed lore vid on Randall's story I have seen so far . And I've watched like 3 other lore vids on Randall's story now. Yours is the best because you make that extra effort and go one step further with lore details. The Storytellers cinematic- machinima lore on Randall's story is great. Appreciate the effort they made to make it. But your lore vid still trumps it cause you provide the extra details, the extra pieces of the story . Far as lore goes, that's everything right? For example I knew about Randall's vault 22 g/f, but did not know her name, Sylvie til you mentioned it. And I played through the Zion quest a bunch of times when I was still playing N.V. Great job 👍

    What I really like about Randall's character is although he's some of the last of humanity, he also represents how great people can be. He was strong both mentally and physically, compassionate, but also fierce when needed. The part that saddened me the most, is when he knew that he was dying, he made sure to go somewhere the children wouldn't find him. He didn't want them to know this mythical figure they looked up to was a sick old man.

    You know you've made a good character when we never interact with them, only see their story through the world and journals, and know their life ended over one hundred years ago; and still we care more about what happened to them than characters who are still alive.

      Randall’s story is brilliant and touching.
      But the most you could get out of his story is maybe an introspective short (could get surreal) film that broadly covers his life events.
      Films like A Boy and His Dog and The Road have two characters to bounce off each other.

    • @floodsye
      @floodsye Před rokem

      While I like the story, not having the movie set within a Vault at the beginning and then transitioning into the broken world outside would instantly make it a box office failure. Most people that have heard or played Fallout (or any game for that matter) are not lore enthusiasts or completionists by any stretch. This means it'd have to target what everyone knows and loves rather than a side story. It's an unfortunate reality and also the reason many of the TV/movie adaptions from games simply opt to rewrite the universes nearly entirely and only maintain cosmetic similarities in order to make it easier to sell to people that have also never heard of the games in the first place. It's the latter, the rewriting that is, has proven to be a complete failure though as seen with many adaptions including fan-made movies since...most of the watchers have at least played the games a little bit and...normies (lol) won't ever go watch a "nerdy" movie.

    • @colddaze6680
      @colddaze6680 Před rokem +1

      @@floodsye I get what you're saying on the one hand. Though within Randall's canon.(A movie or series). It could be shown the transition tween Randall's experience as the bombs fell while driving his pick up near Zion. Him sitting in the truck, knowing what was happening, closing his eyes so to not get get blinded by the nuclear flashes, silently praying the next bomb would not take him out. While the other 12 bombs fell around him in the distance. Then show him putting the old blinded couple out of their misery.. Cut to vault 22. Show the evolving story of that vault. ( where casual mainstream Fallout fans, or non Fallout fans, get a proper insight as to how the vaults worked etc) And how and why those survivors turned into such black hearted cannibals. Then show Randall ,tracking them, watching them. Preparing to take em out ,when he discovered what kind of people they were in Zion.
      Nerdy movie? Not at all man. Fallout verse is just way to varied in lore to be just 'nerdy'. You have the Vipers ,Jackals and Khans for instance. Khans are basically outlaw bikers of a post apocalypse with no bikes. Twice as tough and brutal.
      Randall's story would be about survival " Alone " kind of style, showing his flawed ,pained human experience, computer logs etc. With plenty of off the charts violence and as much grizzly brutality and gore you could put in a movie ( it would have to be rated X 18 +, to get full realistic brutality of Fallout I think). The story following the vault 22 survivors, and what they got up to and how Randall ended up putting them down. Also would need to show his compassionate side ,how he looks out for the survivors who became the Sorrows. How he basically mentored, cared for a whole tribe from the shadows. How he gave the vault 22 woman a chance ,when she got caught in a bear trap. And she became his feminine side, intimate companion he so needed after he lost his first wife to the bombs. That part of his story that would give the romantics and female audience what they want and need, as in light and shade to his story. Randall's story has everything to make for an epic Fallout piece. That provides men and women with what they want to enjoy in a movie or series. It would all come down to careful, thougtful writing, acting and production in executing the story. In the right hands it could be a block buster movie. Fallout is well over 20 yrs old with fans from at least 3 generations. It already has a solid fan base yeah?

    This has got to be one of my favorite DLC to play for Fallout: New Vegas. First time I played it I didn't do the main quest right away. I wanted to explore this new land of green and fresh water. It was cool finding the entries on the computers in the various caves around Zion Valley. I remember wanting an option for the game to be able to bury his body when you find him. He deserved that much at least for all the good that he did and tried to do.
