Michael Schenker is his hero that’s why he sounds nothing like him. Kirk sounds kinda like the freebird solo with the wah on. He is all blues rock and country very little metal in his solos. No minor tonality nothing out of the pentatonic box. Almost every song in e minor!

I literally was at that show, Milan 2015, they played Metal Militia, Disposable Heroes, The Unforgiven 2, The Frayed Ends Of Sanity (in this clip), Fight Fire With Fire... that was my first Metallica show and the setlist was like "what??" when I listened to the tape of the Unforgiven i was ready for the one but instead the 2 started. The second and last live i saw, Milan 2019, the setlist was very "standard", only St. Anger was unexpected and I love that I listened almost a song from every album live in only two concerts

And the CRUELEST part? How pristine and brutal James was and always is on the wickedly difficult rhythm section that follows that fill, probably in my top five all time favorite 'Tallica riffs. I went to hear the fill in context, and it is meaner than this little clip because of the ferocity the other fellas bring. Ah well. Lars is like a person who designed the most extraordinary video game but who lacks the desire, dedication and skills to beat it consistently. He had a hand in great, great metal writing, and in this business, composers come out on top.
