Restoring a '49 8N that belonged to my Grandpa. Will be painting this week. I need new rear tires - what brand and/or where did you get yours? Did you will with liquid?
It was $375 for the 12 V conversion kit. Motor just needed the carb cleaned was all to get running and my neighbor and I have all the tools to paint so probably $150 in paint. Yesterday's tractor has new fenders for the 8n also if you need sheet metal. So if you are worried about cost to restore an 8n, don't. Just do it. It's fun and it's a neat old tractor.
I really love old Farmalls and Allis Chalmers but I just don't have time or space for some of those little ones. My buddy and I are just gonna flip this 8N
You might want to try to reread your serial number. It has to be a 4. Reason it has to be a 4 is because you have a side mount distributor on the tractor. Only tractors made after serial number 263,844 had side mount dizzies and very clearly your tractor has a side mount dizzy. Also on the repo sheet metal. The repo sheet metal sucks, trust me. In short my granddad's old ford 8n burnt somewhat in a fire a few years ago and ruined on the tin on the tractor. FInding good doglegs (what you called fender) and hoods is very tough. I purchased a new hood, doglegs, and front grill for that tractor and NOT A DAMN THING FIT..... Everything had to be cut and modified and welded to fit. NOTHING FIT.... DON'T DO IT. Fix the original. The aftermarket repops are junk and there is no QA.
Yes you are correct. I never made a follow up video for this but it is a 4 and I had to buy a new 12v coil and wire a few things myself. We never did fit that new fender either. Kinda for that reason haha. Thanks for the comment!
Definitely not a unicorn but I deeply love an 8N
Looks like a generator trailer built video to me
The quickest way to tell an 8N from a 2N or 9N is by wheel bolt pattern.
I'm wondering what that generator has to do with the tractor

How much do you think it’s going to cost in the end?

That 8n is cool. I’m restoring a 49 farmall cub. You can check it out in my channel.

Guy literally wasted a good video title on a generator trailer. SMH
