Are you sure? please tell me more how to do this,
Done
if youtube nukes your channel we will attack them like we attacked bathesda when they had that paid mods scandal
@@wranglerstar I think they have to set it up for you. I tagged both of you on Twitter because I know they check their twitter page.
As a visual learner, this was awesome. You taught me something new, I genuinely thank you! :)
3 way switch. Nice. You have both factory and off-road lighting systems. Sweet setup.
Relays are great.
I'm only 14 an im an visual learner came from an axe vid so this may help me when I'm adult
Why is he using a solenoid if relays are great?
@@jarmik3758 that is a relay
@@zeppelin926 In Finland that's called starter solenoid, light switch relays are much smaller here.
I love the old videos! Lots of good information, no drama, more about content than production value, not trying to be tv. When youtube was great!
honestly i wasn’t a fan of the adventure van but after all this stuff i have to say you’ve done some amazing work and makes me want to buy one myself
I'm also a visual learner, and this video was perfect. I recently moved into a rural area and have been wanting to wire up my own LED bar to my Escape. I feel more empowered now.
I'm a volunteer firefighter/EMT in a very rural area and have my auxiliary lights wired similarly but not using a double pole switch. They can only come on with the high beams or I can flip the switch they they stay off even if the high beams are on. I figured when I need the auxiliary lights I'd have my high beams on too. We have a big problem with deer at night as well as various other wildlife. After about 6PM there is pretty much no one else on the road and we get a lot of medical calls in the middle of the night.
Did you do this by just using an on/off toggle switch? This is how I want to wire mine as well.Do I just come out of the fuse box to the switch instead of having to run battery to switch? Obviously I would still run battery to relay but wasn’t sure that I needed to run to switch as well.
That's really slick, I never thought about wiring my lights like that! Thanks so much for the new idea, and I will be doing the same. What a wonderful set up. Thanks again.
That is awesome Cody! When I was younger and working in the oil fields of Texas I used to drive with the light bar on my work truck. Whenever I started doing that I never had any close calls with deer. Most of the time it gave the deer a heads up that I was coming.
Your video helped me a lot! The only issue I ran into, while hooking up my light bar, was that there wasn't enough power to the high beam fuse to actuate the relay I used (car solenoid). To solve this problem I used a quick-splice harness and tapped into the high beam wire directly. It worked! Thank you
Great video. A lot of people don't really understand how to wire these extra lights, especially these led lights. You explained it in a very understandable manor.
I liked alot of your old videos, I frequently go back and watch some of the older ones when you first moved.
Good idea on the three-way switch wiring for your light bar! Hope to do that soon on my plow truck when I have time.
Thanks for introducing us to Bitchute and explaining why you are uploading there. As a fellow creator, I've also been nervous about having all of my content on CZcams and nowhere else, so I'm definitely going to start creating a backup there myself as well. Stay warm!
I used the same method on my land rover and tundra. Worked great. Good job!
The visual explanation greatly helped me understand how I can rewire my reverse pods (to turn on to deal with tailgaters and such) and how to wire some new lights I plan to add soon. I doubt I'll ever rewire my lightbar like this although it would be very nice. I like my Sasquatch rocker switch too much to get rid of it. That piggy back fuse seems like it will be a great help as well
Hey thanks for the upload and keep the great videos coming.
thanks
I wouldn’t hate on your old videos, they are a representation of just how far you’ve come. Merry Christmas and stay strong!
I'm totally going to use this wiring system! Thank you Cody!
I just Finally realised why I Love watching you so much!!When I was a Lil dummy back in the seventies I used to watch a series called EMERGENCY and my hero was Johnny Gage and you kinda look like him....just figured that out tonight...but what a discovery because I named my first boy Gage and didnt even know why....
Love the three way switch idea, seems like the most convenient way to control the lights.
Down here in Australia thats the standard setup also law, to have light bars/spotties only on when the high beams are on and off on low beam.
Same in Europe
It's worth mentioning that when you use those fuse taps the wire should be connected to the cold side of the fuse so that if the wire grounds out it's protected by the fuse. I'm sure yours is connected that way but those watching may not know.
Cody, I love the fact that you have to remind people that we're all adults, we don't need comments about what not to do, and that we should always use best judgment with everything. I got a good snicker of you having to throw that out to the "Safety Sallys" as you call them!
Nicely done...thanks for sharing.
That was prob the most useful and helpful with as straightfoward directions as possible. Also best thing for generators is to use propane and eliminate gas this way is way more efficient and never have to worry about a dirty carb
Great video and it is nice to see someone demonstrate the correct way to wire something like this up to often you see videos of people wiring lights up in a way that you really should not do nice to see it done correctly
I bet that adventure van is impressive in the dark.
The small generator is a neat idea. I may invest in one of those at some point. The larger ones we have are irritating to move around.
Neat wiring demonstration :)
Since you have installed an inline fuse in the wire that runs to the relay from the positive side of the battery would it be possible to connect that wire and the blue wire together and then run them directly to the light and just eliminate the relay switch? Would it not be possible to use the same wiring diagram but leave the relay switch out?
Always enjoy your homesteading vids, have been watching since you were redoing your home it was just a little cabin at first, cheers and god bless
That van is awesome !!! Me and the dog could travel the country in that bad boy!!
Really like these adventure van videos you've put together. Makes me want to make one of my own
I was really glad to see your info about the three-way switch set-up for the offroad lights.
Hey so if I wanted to use a two position switch instead of a three position switch so I can just have it connected to the high beams and just flip the toggle switch on and off can I do that?
Ever heard of Floatplane? it's a good alternative to youtube.
skaharn it you can’t trust a man to not drop expensive electronics can you trust him to run a platform?
Thanks for another year of your creativity, sharing your family’s celebrations, and helping publicize alternative solutions so creators don’t have to bend to the tyranny of censors. Merry christmas.C
The wall mounted tool storage looks awesome, can't wait for the tool organisation video on your channel 😬
Love the content. Excited to watch all the old content on your back up site!
Ah now I'm off to wire up my air horns for the van. A different sound gets their attention and the quicker they move off the road. Great idea about the separate fuse. Happy Christmas to you and your family. Looking forward to another year with you guys.
Very helpful for adding lights in the rear, switched or reverse triggered. Nice. And the Honda EU2000i is awesome! Love mine, SO quiet !
Thanks for this video... just bought my truck and I’m living out in rural Ohio... I wanted to hook the bar, I’m going to buy, up to the high beams... this is super helpful
Really helpful video, I’m currently wiring some spot lights to work the way you have shown thank you
that rocker switc to optionally tie it into the highbeams is brilliant!
Thank you for the table top how to demonstration that save me a lot of uncomfortable under the dash time thank you Cody God bless you and yours
Love your dedication to your videos 👍🏻 ps I remember you saying electrics wasn’t your thing but you seem to know and understand it pretty well 😂
Thanks for the visual aid!! I hope this works for me. I'm running HID's in my headlights, and the way I have it wired in right now, the headlights won't shut off when I leave the switch to my LED light bar in the on position. Not sure why. Something is back feeding and keeping my headlights on.
I'm going to try and wire the light bar in how you've suggested. Thanks man!!
Hey guys, Is there a way to do this using two 2 position switches instead of one 3 position switch? I know it should work I just can figure picture in my head how to do it… any help would be appreciated 🙏
Cody I am sure glad you put the link for bit Chute because I would have never found it otherwise since I cannot spell as well as I read! I love the old style toggle switches! There easier to find than a black button on the dashboard which I find hard to see in the dark! If they had lighter colors I could find them in the dark! I know they wouldn’t be as slick looking but they would be more user friendly. I have been wanting to get a generator for a long time but I can’t justify it with the family but still feel like its better to be safe than sorry for not being prepared ahead of time. Cody I like what you are doing with your new back up system with all your videos! A wise person always tries to think about the what if’s especially with the changing tides of You Tube!! You ant pay for peace of mind if you don’t have a backup plan for many the most important things that might make all the difference in your life and taking care of your family and helping others that might need your help in a pinch!
You have not been through all the mystery drawers yet. You are going to find that Ford Foot switch and say why didn't I mount that in the floor of the new van for the lights? I can think of a better use for a floor switch though. Solenoid actuated small arms quick access drawer.
Hey, thanks for reminding me. I've got one of them brand new still in the box outside in the shed. That will be how I install the control for my spotlights.
Cody I've been a subscriber since before you hit 100k, that's my only claim to fame... I loved your old videos, they were so informative and original and that's why I've continued to follow your content. These "common mans workshop" vidoes are a return to your original style and they are a refreshing change of pace compared to some of your other recent videos concerning your diet and so on. Keep up the manly manners and other masculine nuggets of information. As a young man, mid 20s, the knowledge you share on a daily basis in invaluable.
I’ve done everything you said when fitting my light but I have a permanent live from the piggyback fuse. Any advice please 🙏
Cody is it possible to wire it directly to your brights without doing the three way switch. I have a 03 gmc and want to put a led light bar in the front behind my grill
Soooo happy you found a new platform!
I'm late catching this video, but do you need a relay for this to work with the LED style bars? Also, could I use the switch with two piggy back fuses and have it connected to the high beams on one side and factory fog lights on the other?
great video thank you. May I ask - do I just use the existing lighting relay or does this require adding another one specifically for the led's?
im so glad your uploading your videos would hate it if CZcams does something to your channel also have you ever had experience with propane generators just seeing what you thought of them
Thank you so much for sharing your quality workmanship, very very helpful
Super cool explanation mate. THANK YOU. Saved this video and gonna watch it as I proceed with my install
Going there today Cody I’m a long time sub so I hope you man many years of great success!!
Just watched the WranglerStar 3-way switch with the piggy-back fuse routine for wiring my lights... Brilliant!
curious can i go from my new light directly to the highbeam by splicing, then run back to the relay?
I am looking to install a pair of aftermarket driving lights on my 86 Toyota truck. In VA they must only come on when using the low beams, so I have to run a trigger wire from the low bean power wire to the 4-pole relay "switch," pole #85. Then they will only come on when the low beams are on, but i don't want them on all the time. I can't go straight manual switch as that could allow high bean/driving light use.
My plan is to insert a wireless remote operated inline SPST on/off switch into the system to disrupt power to the driving lights when I only want the low beams on. I can mount the remote control fob to my dash for easy access.
The question is, to what rely input/output is best circuit to insert the cut-off switch?
1) Battery to the relay (pole 30).
2) Relay output to the driving lights (pole 87).
3) Ground (pole 86)
4) Trigger wire in the switch circuit (pole 85)
I'm thinking #1, as it cuts all power and is easiest to install. I also still need a hot wire to power the remote operated switch.
Would love if you have the answer, those 2kw generators can almost power a small home, rv, cabin, or sailboat, except for startup loads of electric motors which is between 2 and 6 times the running loads- especially cooling appliances (AC, refrigerator, freezer) is there an inexpensive way to feed the startup high loads of these items while still running a reasonably small amount of power generation?
Was happy to see a WranglerStar video about this, thanks! I love watching your other stuff, this was a nice surprise.
Great vidio!! I was looking for a way to install my light bar without messing up the factory wire harnas this is just what I was looking for. Thank You so much and God Bless you and your family.
Mr w just does things so well , makes me feel such a cowboy🤠
Thanks for the tip. I never thought of piggy backing off of the high beams fuse to a three way switch.
👍
We live on a farm, and for a generator we use a tractor pto powered trailer unit. Our power utility pole has a special cable that plugs into our generator that is rated for the power we use (since running water for our cattle is important). The nice thing about it is we can use wall outlets and 220v equipment without running extension cords. The only downside is you have to run it with a tractor that may be loud (our New Holland t7.235 isn't 😁). The tractor can run for longer periods however, and we also use the generator to plug our stick welder in to occasionally fix steel fence remotely.
+Wranglerstar Thank you for the visual aid. I've been wondering how to do this myself.
What is that fuse jumper piece called?
Could you show how you ran the Fuse Jumper wire out your fuse box? I want to keep my vehicle looking stock and I know you are very good at...
What an awesome video! Thank you for all you do.
A record of your growth is the term that escaped your thought when referring to the quality of your first video's. Merry Christmas to you all.
Installing my Hella comet 500's seemed very intimidating but your video really helped me out. Thanks!
"loathsome OCD disorder".... Reminded me of a bunch of my ex's and got a good chuckle out of me, thanks.
Bravo, man! Gonna go this route on "my old KC " lights.
Thank you . This took possible hours of “over worrying” if it will work or not for my next little project ahead ..
Thank you 🙏🏻 kindly
Very cool idea Evan all the wiring I have done awesome deal just click the high beams and dim it
I have an $80. Harbor Freight, Cheapest, 2 stroke, 900 Watt surge, 800 watt continues watt Generator made? It is now 9 years old. I have used it Dry Camping as a Snowbird down on Arizona, 2 winters running it 5 to 8 hours a day. It had sat in my Barn, over the last 3 years. My power was out "again" the other night, I filled it with Chain Saw Gas and ran it 5 hours with only 2 pulls to start it.
Buy 2 keep one in the box , ready to go. Hint, 100 foot cord, around corner of barn and plywood sheet places to deflect sound.........as quiet as a Honda 1000 @ 100 feet away, $800. bucks cheaper.
You can't go wrong with a Honda small engine. Hands down. My lawnmower's, generator's, gas water pump, rototiller leaf blower etc are all Honda. Lightwieght, quiet, easy to use, and the lawnmower (walk behind) is so easy to use my elderly (in her 70's) mother still mows her own lawn using the Honda I bought her for Mama's day 6 years ago.
Great video and quick question:
What specific three-way rocker switch did you use?
Would love to do something similar to my rig! Thanks!
Thanks for the explanation, I loved it.
Thank you very much Sir. I have been trying to find info on how to do this for my lights.
Hi cody, can we receive link for the connectors and the crimping tool?
I'm searching for a good quality one.
Tnx!
That's really clean man, I was going to just add one of those old floor high beam switches for my dog lights but I'm going to go with this set up. Thank you! I don't like ghetto.
I was also thinking about bit chute ever since I did that video. I think ill do it actually.
oh i thought i needed to cut into the high beam harness on the headlights to make this possible. thanks alot! helped me out before i did something stupid
Thanks for the visual aid. Totally clarified the mystery of home auto electrics
Thanks one question the lower to the 3 way switch i noticed you had a red live wire to the battery with out a fuse can i take the power from the fused side that went to the relay or do i need to fuses thanks
I am glad you posted that Sargon video... I would have never found your channel. I actually liked this video. I had never thought of the highbeam LEDs
This may be one of your most useful video ever.
Thank you for your great videos. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Many blessings and God bless.
Great idea love it. My light bar on jeep wrangler has saved me from hitting deer runing on to the road. The area I drive to work is poorly light.
Great Lighting Illustration and I have created an account on the othe platform. Thank you.
This is great! How do I find a hi beam wire from the bi-xenon headlight? any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
This video explains everything, can’t thank you enough
Cody is there a way i can contact you i found a unique "axe" not sure if its home made or what.
Or any one that knows a lot about axes.
Those fuse block taps have been around since at least the early 90's. Maybe even earlier. I don't know.. I used one of those for the first time in oh... 1992 I think. Hooking up a CB in my uncle's truck.
I love visual aids, woooooo! ~ Ric Flair
thanks for detailed explanation, a good start point !
I know this is an older video but hope you can reply! Can you let me know what wires go to what relay post numbers? Thanks!
I will check out the other site. Love watching the old videos.
