    I used to work at Wal-Mart when I was younger. management treats you like crap. I did my job and they yelled at me for some one else not doing their own job. they won't give you enough hours or decent enough pay to even live on. I quit to go somewhere else where I was treated like a human being and ALOT better pay. I am only saying this because it is true and because I have lived through it.

      +Kameron Koch it is not a lie and the story is fact. I have dozens and dozenz of people that this happened too also. you are either work in management for Wal-Mart, gullible, or a internet troll. you don't know anything about me. you never worked at the store location where I worked at because if you did you would know.

      Vincent T. The amount of time I worked there I was treated like sh*t. I always did my job and got done early with what I had to do. The manager would be griping at me to hurry up and go help someone who still had lots and lots of freight to work out. I did my job and got yelled at because someone else did not do their's. Anyone saying that Wal-Mart did not do that, that I'm lying, or anything else is a fool or is in management at Wal-Mart. No-one should ever be treated like sh*t especially when they do their job.

    • @vincentalexander5242
      @vincentalexander5242 Před 8 lety +10

      Albert Easley Right? What was your position? I'm on this 2pm-11pm team they instituted that is responsible for unloading the GM truck, pulling everything to the floor at 9pm, and stocking the entire consumables side of the store. Management is on our asses 24/7 and god forbid we don't finish every department because there were two trucks or something. Then it's a 10 minute lecture about how we're being unreliable and lazy and we need to "step it up" when they don't even pay us enough to live off of. They cut hours and days to save their asses money... and yet expect us to get the same amount of work done. They hire people telling them they're going to get full time a few months later but then never follow through. Hell, the manager who hired me said that I'd be making $12 an hour to start... then dropped it down to $10-11 during the second interview... then down to $9 when I was actually hired. Not to mention at our store the managers all play favorites, some associates seem to get special rights and privileges and don't have to do half the amount of work as you even though you guys have the same position in the store, simply because they're up the arsehole of a salaried manager. There's no communication... shit is always disorganized... they have an "open door" policy that basically ineffective because they'll listen to your concerns, tell you they're going to work on it... and then not do jack shit. Schedules are changed last minute without notice and if you don't show up it's your fault because you should be "checking it twice a day". Ugh I look forward to eventually having a better job.

    Considering how shit Wal-Mart is and the often horrible costumers, if you want to work in retail I would recommend Costco. I don't know everything but I've heard it's got good pay, good co-workers, and good managers. There will still be shitty costumers no matter what but hopefully better than the hellhole that is Wal-Mart.

      Aosc2 Kroger is only a slight step up. To get any advancement at Krogers you practically have to fuck the person that's willing to give you a better position. The average management is just pure neopotism so if you get a manager that dislikes you, you might as well quit and get something better.

    As someone who worked at Walmart for their first job. I can say it was honestly awful. shitty hours, unfriendly and no helpful management. also you were essentially told to not talk to any sort of union rep or you'd be in a lot of trouble. their exact words were "why ruin what we have going on here! why talk to a rep when you can just talk to us! we wouldn't let ANYONE ruin the great circumstances we have here at Walmart!" translation: talk to a union rep and you're fired. also, when I quit my job there and found a new one I received repeated unfriendly calls from the manager demanding a detailed explanation. TL;DR, fuck Walmart, you're nothing more than a number and profit machine. and if you get in the way of what they want? They will subtract you.

      I believe you’re talking about Deborah Shank. She was injured in a car accident. She won settlement money for the accident ($400,000- something). Her injuries were paid for under Walmart’s medical plan, and Walmart tried to sue her for the money that her health insurance covered (which was a few thousand more then what she even got from her original settlement). Walmart won the case, but then a lawyer came to her rescue and made it public and Walmart got into so much shit because not only did her husband have to put her in a nursing home for help, but she lost her son in Iraq a week after the court ordered her to pay Walmart. It’s really sick how greedy of a company Walmart is. Can’t even be bothered to take care of their own employees while being a multi- billion dollar company.

    • @mkitten3643
      @mkitten3643 Před 7 lety +1

      +Draganot1 Home office directs the mngrs 2 behave the way they do. That's why they all uniformly act that way. These mngrs & asst mngrs all learn how 2 intimidate, flat out bully, & do things that are flat against labor laws. It's really unconscionable.

    • @Draganot1
      @Draganot1 Před 7 lety

      Mkitten Home office doesn't tell them to behave that way. They are just jackasses high on power if they do. Home office makes the decisions running the company and has authority over their stores. Managers where i live are actually pretty chill but that's probably because executives shop at the stores here and customers or other employees could very easily inform them. (And that has happened before, a customer reported a manager had harassed them, they checked the cameras and gathered witness reports, they fired him a day later.) So they most certainly do not tolerate such things.

    • @mkitten3643
      @mkitten3643 Před 7 lety +1

      +Draganot1 The way in which they write them up for clocking out even a minute over-time, any talk about unions or how men make more than women gets u fired, locking us in the store after clocking out bc there weren't enough ppl scheduled in the depts. therefore it's a mess, etc. It all leads 2 one conclusion... the mngrs & asst mngrs are trained 2 run the stores this way. It's like the factories in China & Mexico. The ppl running them are trained 2 treat those workers like shit, since there aren't protections 4 the worker, they will get away with whatever possible. You don't have 2 believe it. There have been enough law suits where the plaintiffs could prove their allegations, stating the same exact things I went thru & saw as an employee. How else could those exact things happen in soooo many stores? There's no way 4 it 2 just be random mngrs on a power trip.

    • @Draganot1
      @Draganot1 Před 7 lety

      Mkitten Could be explained simply by distance from source. The farther something is from the source, the more likely it is to deviate. The stores here are very well kept and management in stores quite helpful. All things considered though, the stores here are show stores, so i supposed it would only be natural for them to be better than most.

    I worked at Walmart last year during the Holiday season. In that time, I had my schedule changed last minute without notifying me multiple times, had a supervisor lecture me in front of customers that I did something wrong, only to find out later I actually did it right and he had no reason to lecture me, was constantly made to help with the carts in the parking lot since the store didn't schedule the Lot Attendants properly and made any male cashier in the store at the time help out, and constantly had to wait 10-20 minutes for a supervisor to come approve every little thing on my register when I could have just done it myself, or to have them bring me more change for my till, or bring me more bags when I started running out. I also noticed a good portion of customers were buying a LOT of bananas, which always had me confused. Why did I take a job from such a crappy place? Because thanks to greedy asshole companies like Walmart, I don't make much and can't afford to do anything else other than crappy retail jobs.

When I was younger, I was going to have a surgery and I would need assistance since my mom and step dad both had work, my Grandma volunteered to watch me while they did. Grandma worked there for YEARS, was a valued employee and was one of the best cashier workers there, she also got awards for being fast and such. When she asked if she can be off of work for a little bit to care for me while I recovered, she asked that when she comes back, she can have the same position and the same wage she made before she left. They said no and when she comes back, she'll have to start all over again. Instead, she quit and never came back.

    I live in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Walmart Super Center on 86th street is the reason why Walmart has lost me as a customer. Walmart hires individuals who only know three words in English which are, "No speak English". Several times when i asked for an item the employee stocking shelves for help to find an item only to be told by the worker, "no speak English". I have no problem Walmart hiring non English speaking individuals. The problem comes in to play when they are placed where they interact with customers. When I spoke to an assistant store manager I was informed that I should learn the language of the worker or carry a translator. At 80 years of age, I'll be damned if I am going learn the different languages of employees who "no speak English". Nor am I going to start carrying a translator. Walmart needs to place "no speak English" employees in positions where they do not come in contact with customers until such time the "no speak English" employee has command of the English language good enough to understand what is being said by the customer. I called customer service, explained what happened. I was told a message / note would be sent to upper management. I was also asked for my phone number. I expect it will be a cold day in hell before someone from Walmart's upper management at corporate headquarter will call me. Walmart seems to care little for the customer, just the money. I tried to find the name of the regional manager and the phone number only to be told by local management they do not know the regional managers phone number. I was also told by the assistant manager I should look around the store for a worker who knows English. It is not my job to run all over the store to try and find a worker who speaks English. Walmart doesn't seem to understand that no company is to big it cannot fail. Does the demise of Sears ring a bell? Sear too at one time was a world wide company. With such attitude displayed store management, in time shoppers will tire of the arrogates of management and turn to other companies like Target and Meijer to name just two large retailers competing with Walmart.

      I'm leaning on the side that they are probably referring to an aggregate figure including the considerably higher paying jobs which are currently populated mostly by men, resulting in a skewing of the figure that results in a wage gap visible only by a lack of research and fundamentally bad mathematics.
      Confirmation bias is a cold hard bitch though isn't it? I wouldn't expect anyone to want to take a closer look at the numbers they are using.
      In all my life in the UK, at the low pay grade end of employment, I've never heard of either gender being paid more than the other for "like for like" work. The same job.
      On an unrelated topic, I'm much more likely to see a store populated only by women than only by men.
      Women more likely to hire based on same gender than men?
      Correlation does not equal causation, but there certainly is a correlation.

Once management started to switch around the month of September/October, that's when I started to dread it. The managers that replaced the cool ones really had no business being managers. On more than one occasion, I had customers come up to me and tell me that I should be a manager and not them because of their inability to handle some situations. Lol.

I will admit I can't speak for the whole country... especially since we got paid 7.95 base for overnight work(back in 2011), and they claim to pay 10.10. The way it works is that you are not guaranteed a yearly raise, so what they do is give men bigger/more consistent raises. Is it possible that I just so happened to work with a bunch of lazy ass women? Of course that is possible, but I doubt it. And I knew of a few cases where women had different titles than men, got paid less, but had to do the same job. Shit, one of their methods of punishment was to take your raise away, it could be for something as stupid as being late more than 2 times. ***** Also if they were to jack up the wages to near $20/hr they would regain the money back in cutting personnel, hours and benefits. Also they pass on the labor expense by increasing the prices of goods and services. Which hurts customers and hurts employees. While in theory it sounds good to pay all WM employees near $15-20 /hr, in reality it does more harm than it does good. For what is required of most employees, $10 to $12/hr is more than reasonable for entry level employees.

    Number 11 is painfully true. When you get your training they tell you to just give the person whatever it is they want. Now, there is a poster in the breakroom that says you can avoid the attacker, deny them access to you, and if that fails defend yourself, but none of that was in my cashier training. It doesn't matter whether it's a gun or a spoon, if someone asks for the money in the register they trained me to give it all without issue.

    Pharmacy and I caught one of the Farm Tecks with a pharmacist were
    stealing my medication and I went to turn them in to the management. How
    ever the pharmacy people who were stealing my meds called management
    quick and said I had a flamethrower and I had threaten to use it on them
    O.o...WOW I said when I had 2 witnesses who were with the whole time
    telling also the manager I did No such thing and explained what happened along with the 2 women that also work for this company taking care of elderly people.Wouldn't I still have had the Flamethrower? also I do not know how to even use one or a gun but I know how to use my sword and machete but they were at home where they belonged and all I was armed with was my seance of humor and wit. I explained what had happened and I was called a lier right to my face and she called the police who also laughed at the thought of me having a flame thrower and the manager told me I could not come back for 99+ years. So was banded their store and instead of getting upset at this I busted out laughing and so did the 2 other women I was with from the Company I work for. I live right across the street from Wall-Mart and they are trying to get me to move, however they can not because it is not on their property. They even tried to sue 2 kids ages 8 and 9 for sell pumpkins half way across our town, Wall mart said they would drop the charges if they promised to never sell another pumpkin as long as they live, they agreed. So now ever Halloween I grow pumpkins and give them out for free. LOL. I have never wronged their store, I do not steal and I did shop there a lot, still they treat me like a common thief for catching on to their stealing my meds. My other Pharmacy was doing that as well but I turned them in and they were shut down because he was stealing not only mine but also from 3 elderly ladies. Wall Mart knew that I had done so and that is the reason a so called "Flame Thrower" and the other garbage they spewed forth against me. As that door of shopping closed another window-ish door was open lol. Now I shop at Albertsons and I must say they treat you so kindly at the Albertsons I go to. you pay a little more but it is worth it even on a tight budget. Thanks to Wall Mart I now have a better place to go, kicking me out of there was the best thing they have done for me, Thank you Wall Mart!

      Reflex Rages If women earn less than men (for the SAME level of work and experience), then why are any men employed at all? If it were in any way true, it wouldn't be economically feasible to employ a man; and as any fifth-grader knows, running a successful business is ALL ABOUT being economically feasible. Please go read something factual written by someone without a divisive, leftist, feminazi agenda. Women do NOT earn less than men when they have the same level of experience. If a woman takes off 20 years to raise a family and then rejoins the work force she'll make less than a man who's been working that 20 years because she doesn't have that 20 years of experience. It's simple, reasonable logic. It has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the fact that she's a woman and everything to do with the fact that she isn't as experienced. Newsflash: that's how employment works. I've worked in jobs alongside men, and I know for a fact (because people talk about salaries even though they aren't supposed to) that I earned more money than my less-experienced male counterparts. THOSE are the facts.
