Lovely you have saved such a Great bit of kit & Very sympathetic cleaning there Simone. Good mix of tapes, I love 60s & 70s cheesy music, Tony Christie famous for road to Amarillo, Gilbert & Sullivan is operetta, James Last is Big band jaunty 70’s dance music, Peter’s & Lee were famous for ‘welcome home’
I remember a classic episode of “Alexei Sayle’s Stuff” where he came out of a record shop saying he had just bought a new cassette from his favourite band “Head Cleaner”, he put it in his Walkman, put his headphones on, and pressed play before enthusiastically dancing and pogoing down the street while making loud static noises ! 😂
I’d be very surprised if a 1970s transformer (in the PSU) would have been replaced…. Fantastic how “Home made” stuff like that was back then…. certainly helps when overhauling and restoring. White Spirit is an effective and more aggressive solvent for sticky gunk, tape residue etc.
Nice vintage stereo! If you want to listen to Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, look up their videos here on CZcams. Grew up with Andy Williams, he had his show in the 70's here in the US. He was married to Claudine Longet. Those tape rollers and tape head were filthy! Great you could take it apart and clean them with alcohol. Capacitors and electrolytics might need replacing, there are some channels here on CZcams that might help. If it works, don't do anything.
Always have a bottle of Isopropyl and some cotton buds on hand for the head on my cassette decks and for old game cartridges. I've never had the opportunity to try 8 track (or DAT foe that matter) having made to leap in recordable formats from Cassette to minidisk. If I'm not mistaken 8 track toes are pre recorded though?
The AM radios today are garbage compared to the older ones. FM too, to a lesser degree. One of these days I am going to get myself an old Crosley radio. My Grandpa was one of the chief engineers for the Crosley Corporation back from 1927 to about 1965.
We have an 8-track in the T/A. The only tape we have is Eastbound and Down. True story!
Nice 8 track 👍

Well done Simone on taking it apart, fair play you will turn your hand to anything.

I can help, one of my favourite songs a must play Simone and as usual great video
This makes me want to buy an old reel to reel deck for a poke about with.
I love tinkering with old tech

This is cool!
thanks 😁
This was made mid 70s so those caps are probably right, the old 'orrible paper ones tend to be in 50s/60s boards.

There are recorders but I think they are rare. I have a love for minidisc 💽 I must admit.
Try and apply steam from a kettle might get black tape off
Thought you would have popped in front of the camera Simone for a sec . Maybe next time.. take care sweetheart.
