This is probably the most intuitive note layout I've ever seen. I learned something today and I've been playing guitar off and on for 35 years. Cheers!
I wish someone had shown me this years ago when I bought my first guitar. Sure makes it simple, straight forward, and logical.
It should come in the case.
As someone who has 0 guitar theory knowledge this pattern started appearing in my head like a month ago after i had struggle with some finger placement for chords. I have noticed same notes were appearing on other strings so i am able to play them differently. And now here we are on this video making everything logical.
Yeah, me too..
I am going to chunk my neck memorization for my next lessons. I am going to draw out my a,b,c and just get them down to memory. Thanks so much for making this easier for me. Grateful
You are the BEST teacher I have been playing guitar over 20 years and your explanation is the absolute easiest and best!!! Thank you!!!
This is a brilliant way to present it. I seen so many videos on this topic but this video made it click and gave me and aha moment. Thank you so much
This is awesome. I love the way you break things down in such detail it's great. Those little video snippets from movies are nice little quips that help with remembering too. It's fantastic
Sometimes when I watch stuff like this trying to learn something, it turns out I already do what’s being taught only I have my own way of doing it. While trying to pick up what’s in the video I get frustrated, but then realize, hey I actually already know this. The first lesson my old man gave me was power chords on the bottom strings and the root notes that coincide. Just from that I was able to learn the notes.
Very understanding indeed
Another excellent video, Ricky! You're hands down the best guitar teacher on CZcams.
You're one of the best instructors iv ever come across. You simplify complex things so most folks can "get it". Thanks for your hard work!
This is brilliant! I've pretty much learnt all the notes on the fretboard but this has just sped up my navigation of the notes.
Great lesson, thanks!
Maestro every lesson you have is done so well, you break it down so orderly that looks so simple, there are no words to say thank you for sharing your knowledge and time.
It never seems to amaze me about how much information lays in plain sight on the guitar but you never see it…until now!
Finally spelling chords/triads just got a whole lot easier…Thank You So Very Much!
🎸🔊🎶🤘✌️❤️🤟
Amazing!! You simplified it so that it makes it easy to understand. Great Job.
Brilliant. Very well explained. Thank you.
Brilliant lesson, mate. Cheers for sharing.
Every now and then i find something on you tube that explains something so well, so seemingly simply, that you can't help but grow from the experience of watching it. This is such a video.
I feel slightly daft that i've never fully grasped this theory side of guitar playing. And, voila, along comes Ricky and shines a light so bright onto the subject matter that i now see it in an absorbable way.
Thank you Ricky. Great job.
The human brain is a damaged good. These little tricks help it to function like it once did in spite of the damage. I am a human and I love these tricks. Thanks
Awesome vid mate.
This explained it so much better, 1000 times easier to understand. Thanks a million👍
Brilliant. And extremely useful and usable. Thanks!
That was an excellent teaching video. Thank you so much.
Very visual and precise. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your help. You made that so much easier to understand. It will be easier to find out and to play. You're a blessing
Rick yesterday I sat down I drew the fretboard like you did. It helped me see it better. I have never been able to do triads up and down the fretboard. Thank you love the way you teach. I play only open chords. 😢
For years, the fretboard has been such a mystery. Thanks for the video! I think I can finally start to move on to try to progress my skill level.
Ahhh! I love this one and I'm going to use it. Thank you!
OMG ! You have shown me the light. Thank you for this. The KISS method does it again. I am so glad I ran into this. Brilliant !
Amazing, wonderful teaching method!
Brilliant! Perfect for visual learners!🙏
You sir have just blown my mind 🤯 thank you
Another great informative video. I like the creative way you tutor. Many thanks.
This was very helpful-thank you.
I’ve been doing this 20 years, and even taught it, but I love his color-coordinated approach. Subscribed and will be recommending your materials to students.
This DEFINITELY makes it SIMPLE. Congratulations. Thank you!!!
Wow!!! Thank you for this video. It really jumps out at you when you show us!!! How simple it is, just like you said. I’ve never seen the patterns before; great stuff! I’m subscribing too & will pass it along!!! 🇺🇸
Amazeballs!! Thank you!!
Brilliant I've been thinking about this all afternoon how to learn this thanks Colin UK 🇬🇧 😊
this is gold, after watching this video half way through I started to do it, makming 1 or 2 mistakes through but its starting to stick, thank you I am a firm believer anyone can learn anything you just got to find the right method for you.
Wow- love this video! Very well explained. Thank you for taking the time to help others. 🙏👍
Thank you for your great and helpful explanation. Masterclass :)
Thankyou so much, that was excellent! Just excellent.
Been trying to learn the guitar unsuccessfully for eternity after watching your videos Ricky now understanding more had my head in many many books and no one to jam along with.
Great help - thanks!
Great content. Never thought about chunking it up. 🎉😊
Wow! Since starting with my first guitar nearly eighteen years ago I have watched DOZENS of tutorials and chords /tabs diagrams which only made me more confused, beginning with ponderous"old-school" music-lesson manuals teaching one note at a time and "modes" which to this day, are STILL Greek to me. But THIS is FAR and AWAY the most useful eye-opening revelation of basic fretboard setup ever seen. A big THANK YOU and WHERE do I sign?
What a brilliant video. I wish I would have come across this brilliant explanation when I first started playing guitar. Thank you 😎👍
This was the most important video I have come across during a year of serious practicing and learning. This was the one that just broke me through! Thank you! You are a legend!
Thank you Ricky.
thank you for this!
I love your book!
Nice way to think of it. Thank you
You are amazing teacher mate.! Been playing four years and in that time the last two weeks of watching your Theory is sank in! Wow! Thanks so much keep up the great videos mate

Super helpful!
I'm glad I found this video, it finally makes sense how to find the key on the fretboard. I can't wait to practice this, it made it click finally.
Wow😮absolutely very easy to remember 😊 on of the brilliant video ❤
That really was amazing and makes perfect sense
Great explanation... Subbed to find out more!
Thanks!
Good lad Ricky have been trying for years to sort this but with you and your daft little marker pen have sorted it for me bestinformation I have ever had Why did I not find this out earlier so simple Well done
Very good lessons.
great stuff
I love this!
Brilliant!
Thanks for the lesson cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
By far the easiest method I've found. Thank you!
Ricky I think this was the video I ever watched thanks
great funny presentation. you are a guitar master Ricky
As a newbie your talking my language, a well explained video I can understand 10/10
thanks man! This was super helpful to me!! i learn better with patterns that are color coded. trying to learn to play music without color for me, is like trying to learn too much math at once and i get anxious and retreat. But i k now that i know how to play music i just need help with the maths. This video was very informative and really beneficial. It was really kind of you to share it for free. Thank you!
Very good. 🎩
The best video I ever watched
Wow am I glad that I stumbled across this video explaining it o_o I'm a bass player that started one year ago and this pattern never occured to me, it's so helpful!
Thanks dude this has got to be the easiest for me up under stand yet
I've watched over a dozen videos and literally was getting the sad's. Then, there it was. I looked up athe time and within 3:30 Into your video I had comprehended something. 3/4 of the way I'm grateful you kepthe sharp and flat stuff out. There's chunks all over my guitar now. By the wayou forgetoo highlight the A. That's proof righthere thathis guitar (w/a built in speaker) is gonna eventually play some Iron Maiden This video is the one that saved my relationship with my guitar.Thanks.
Light bulbs going off in my head. Thank you!
Nice!
100% agree with HolidayDoc44 !!!!! SO FREAKING SIMPLE !!!!!
Brilliant
Excellent, I´m now a member.
Great Info Man (extremely Annoying production). This helps Thank you, 👍🏻
This is classy method. Yea.
I'm Spanish, I don't understand anything you're saying haha... but I think this way of learning the notes is brilliant, just by seeing the patterns with their colors and memorizing how these patterns repeat, you can find the notes on the neck easily... thank you!!
discovered this yesterday put review on this is the best video I have ever watched ,can not believe I could not find this before I can not stop playing it .Must stop now going to watch Boro play QPR
Bravo
Notice that looking at the green G's, we get the CAGED octaves pattern. That's an additional navigational aid!
This allows fast recognition of G as a road sign which allows for immidiae realization of the patterns above and below!!!😊
True but I would just call it the octave pattern it’s nothing to do with caged. That system has the octave pattern in it but that because it’s built on the reality of how the fretboard IS
Fretboard Looks so complicated ..but for da very frst time im quite understood and makes it so simple to memorize
Three fours are 12, on the A string this simple pattern takes you from the nut to the 12th fret where it all repeats again. Brilliant, i must get the old guitar out and get this into my playing. Use it or lose it. Theory is just theory, its forgettable until its practiced and put to good use.
Tnk u sir
Thanks
Thanks Pauline, really appreciate your support. Ricky
Love the thumbnail!
I can't believe I never saw this! Explains the pentatonic patterns without fail! Also note that BEADGCF is in the circle of fifths......that's also all over the fretboard. That's aways helped me but not nearly as helpful as this! It will definitely change the way I look at the fretboard
Cool isn’t it! BEADGCF Is the cycle of 4ths FCGDAEB is the cycle of 5ths. There’s more to BEADGCF than you think! LEARN The Notes On The GUITAR Fretboard In 1 Day - EASIEST METHOD On CZcams - FRETBOARD MASTERY

mint!
I agree. The film clips are irrelevant and distracting. But thank you for the free information and lesson. Appreciated
Holy shit thank you so much 😭😭 this must be easiest way for me to memorize it.
This video is great. Is it safe to assume the the patterns help point out which chords in the scale will be minor and major? Meaning C, G and F on your graphic never have 1/2 steps in them? Leaving any pattern with a 1/2 step as a minor or dim chord. Or is there a better way to identify major and minor?
Good information; I couldn't open the the PDF I was hoping to get though
I just tested the PDF and it downloaded perfectly. Maybe try another browser?
@@rickysguitar thanks I will try
I didn't understand a thing you said, but I love your accent. :) Just kidding!! I found your clip quite enlightening, thank you. :)
Can you start applying this right away? Maybe create some licks from it? Just to make memorizing it fun
Very helpful. Clips of videos kinda annoying, but well worth watching!
