I have to adress that using a dishwasher tablet is both safe and effective. I did tests with 4 different kind of dishwasher tablet/packs, none where corrosive to aluminium, this is important, because the spider assembly=aluminium. Don't use baking soda or soda crystals, both corrode aluminium. Other option: White vinegar, is also completely safe to use, dosage: 1cup=2,5dl.
Vinegar is very bad for the tubes! It will be hardened and crack after a while and you will damage it! Don't use vinegar if you have rubber and soft plastics! Not in your washing machine, not in your coffee machine...
I don’t see how a dishwasher tablet would ruin the seals considering it’s safe for a dishwasher which has such type of seals and dishwashers keep a tad bit of water in them after each cycle so the seals don’t dry up.
At 66 yrs old and having had two children I’ve been through a few washing machines and in the past have done some of my own DIY repairs, replacing pumps bearings and the like before drums became sealed units. Black gunge around the seals was never an issue until low temperature washes became the norm. To combat this do a high temperature wash to kill any bacteria and disperse build up. I live in a very hard water area and have never seen the amount of build up they show in the calzone TV adverts. Just scare mongers tactics to get you to buy their product.
in the maintence manual for mine it says to use the afresh washer cleaning tablet every 30 days or 30 washes ALSO never close the washer lid when its not in use
@@monkeyoperator1360 We also use the Affresh tablets in the cleaning cycle in our Amana front loader. As empty nesters (no kids) it’s only about four loads a week on average. Wiping down the seals with a clean rag after the cleaning cycle is also recommended. Not sure how this presenter let this one go so long without even wiping out the seal.
There are various washing machine cleaning fluids you can purchase for a few pounds at your local supermarket that you can use at say once a month to give the machines internal pipes etc a clean. Follow the machines manufactures instructions if in doubt. That combined with a high temperature was now and then and leaving the door open for an hour or so after a wash has alway# worked on my machines. A point to note is that when there was only washing powder available there was the risk of it not dissolving fully where as with washing liquid it seems to dissolve/mix easier in the water so less residue left behind, but that’s only my opinion.
Good tip! I just learned it last week. It is better to put something in the washer, like old rags. Also top up the tank just after the fill cycle to get more grime out and stop the washing machine after heating for about 30-60min.
1)Use the recommended amount of detergent in each wash. Avoid the habit of using excessive amounts of detergent. It will leave a coating on your clothes and machine seals that won’t come out during the rinse cycle. 2) I try to avoid liquid softener. The stuff leaves a waxy coating in the dispenser, seals and drum. 3) wipe down the seals and gaskets 4)leave the door open after each use 5) run a clean cycle with washing machine cleaner every other week 6) clean the washing filter every other month.

I domt understand why people say the brown water is just dye from the tablet. Like yellow and white does not make brown and even if it did it wouldn't be that noticeable
Fabric softener is the enemy to washing machines, it leaves a greasy like film, hence the greasy feeling and causes mould in dispenser of machine and smells. I use bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar to clean add essential if you like. Then once a month use a hot wash (95c) and leave door open on machine after every wash.
Dishwasher tablets do not foam up. Otherwise you would get loads of foam everytime in your dishwasher. The foam you’re seeing here is residue that has built up in the machine from liquid/gel and fabric softener. Do yourself a favour and use a POWDER detergent. Powders contain oxy bleach which will help with stain removal and keep the washing machine clean

I put a commercial solution in in my washing machine, it has 500 ml and, as a composition, it says on the product label that it has a maximum of 15% phosphoric acid and a maximum of 5% non-ionic surfactants, the rest is distilled water... at 70 degrees, without pre - washing... I only used calgon, before this solution and, after 5 years of calgon, I changed the electrical resistance of the car and it was full of limescale... the service representative said to stop using calgon and no other products which have citric acid in their composition, for cleaning the washing machine, because citric acid destroys the rubber hoses and the semering under which the bearings are... so, he recommended the product with the above composition... I threw the container away but I'm going to ask the service guy again what the solution is called and what manufacturer it is from... my car is a Whirpool and, this year, it "turns" 20 years of operation... water from here it is semi-calcareous...only good in the future for everyone
You're making many mistakes: 1: you close the door when you're done. Air dry it! 2: you don't seem to use a rag to wipe out the rubber in the door opening after using it. You do this before leaving the door open to air it out. 3: I use white (cleaning) vinegar as a laundry softner. So the washing machine always gets some vinegar at the end of every cycle. These are three ways you can improve your washing machine life. And I have a Beko as well, so I can compare mine with yours.
Many mistakes and you go on to mention 3 observations? Leaving the door open or not does not alter things. Rag wipe is interesting. You know using vinegar in a washing machine will shrink rubber seals and eventually cause a leak?
@@fiveminuteman "Leaving the door open or not does not alter things?" Thanks for the video and all, but that statement is factually 100% incorrect. At the least, the easiest way to all but eliminate mold/mildew/odor is to leave the washer door and the the detergent/dispenser tray open AFTER EACH USE. Wanna go further? Then after each use: wipe the interior, gasket/bladder, and door and dispenser tray; drain the pump well, and leave the drain tube unplugged; THEN leave the door and dispenser tray open... You'd need to "clean the machine" much less often (provided you aren't overusing detergent, are using minimal softener, and are regularly checking and cleaning the pump trap/filter).
@@CaesarCapone i think you taken the whole thing a little too far don't you think? How about everything is left open then sprayed with a mould cleaner then wiped down again then hot air dried. Could even polish the components afterwards.
@@fiveminuteman Of course I took it to far! I have a Bush WMNB712EW 7KG washing machine I have had it since January 2020, it like a Beko is a budget brand but there is no need to think that these products can't last I don't use gels or liquids if I can avoid it, last year I had to because of the pandemic and people panic buying, but I am just about to finish a big box of surf biological powder which has lasted me for about 11 months because I live alone Even though I don't use gels or liquids, I use biological washing powder and I also wash at 40oC at least once a week, I still do a maintenance wash once a month I don't just put the machine on a hot cycle, I put it on prewash and extra rinse too, I put a small amount of bleach and washing up liquid (1 table spoon) in the prewash and main wash compartments Before I put the machine on to do its maintenance wash, I remove the detergent drawer and give it a really good clean, I also check the compartment where the drawer sits and the the jets where the water fills the drawer and I also remove the pump filter (put a towel down to collect the water) and clean it and check the pump runs freely This way I am giving my machine the best chance of performing to the best of its ability for years and years to come Once important thing to consider with regards to the build up in the machine is that whilst that is occurring detergents cannot work as efficiently, because so much of it is being used to tackle the developing problem I hope this helps :)
Just buy a calblock it's a magnet 🧲 it goes to your washing machines water inlet valve it lasts for over 10 years no more hard water and lower electrical bill's try it there not expensive to buy .

Congratulations👍👍

What's with the random frog image thrown it at 3:04? 😂
😀 Idea taken from the series 'Young Ones' from the 80s👍😎
@@fiveminuteman Brilliant 🤣 for some reason I want to go buy a frog now lol 🤷♀️😂
@@lauranolan4398 I get plenty of frogs in my pond in the spring, will get them to hop over. 😁
OMG let me go clean my washer
Go go go go go go!👍😃
Why aren't you subscribed by 100,000 people by now?
Another 10 years and i'll be there
You're making many mistakes:
1: you close the door when you're done.
My point was leaving door and the dispenser tray open is the single best and easiest thing you can do to prevent odour/mold/mildew - which you seemed to disagree with. I added on the description of the full measure, suggesting it won't make much more of a difference that the door/tray option. But I was hoping that would be more up to your standards... Since leaving the door open makes no difference.
@@CaesarCapone leaving the door and draw open helps greatly I wipe the entire machine and dry my beko after every single use and always use a calgon tablet in every wash
My right ear didn't like it...
Left ok?
Good test video, and an absolutely horrible music, that ruins everything.
Cheers!👍🤣
Why the background noise?
Nature
Music louder than you!!
Nobody else has an issue
Why would a dishwasher tablet do harm to a washing machine when a dishwasher does the same job?????
Very good question😀👍
Just because experts said and majority follow experts. Yes I use dishwasher tablets but there are experts who said no .
Turn the music up I can't hear it
Nobody has compained
@fiveminuteman most of the comments are from the elderly. They wouldn't even hear it lol
@@bigbadaboomboom pardon?😂😂👍👍🇬🇧

No problemo my friend😉
I have a whirlpool washer for 5 years. Have two cats. It has no gunk.
Lucky you
What's the cats got to do with it🤔🤔🤔
@@derkbruinsma9351 was wondering that myself 🤔🤔🤔🤔
5 years is fairly new. Mine is 12 years old
How do the cats hold up after each and every wash over the past 5 years?! They must be in tatters 🤣
Am I literally the only one that noticed that the plastic wrap was still on the tablets?!
If you unwrap the tablets then the soap can mix easier faster and you should do it with a hot cycle for the grease
It's not plastic wrap it's organic and is supposed to be left on so all the tablet isnt released instantly.
@@fiveminuteman unfortunately it’s a water soluble plastic , but yes, that is the purpose.
These tablets are powefurl degreasers... And that's it .
Works a treat
Who allows that black guck to stay in ma none ! I clean that area out once a month
Lol
I have a Bush WMNB712EW 7KG washing machine I have had it since January 2020, it like a Beko is a budget brand but there is no need to think that these products can't last
I don't use gels or liquids if I can avoid it, last year I had to because of the pandemic and people panic buying, but I am just about to finish a big box of surf biological powder which has lasted me for about 11 months because I live alone
Even though I don't use gels or liquids, I use biological washing powder and I also wash at 40oC at least once a week, I still do a maintenance wash once a month
I don't just put the machine on a hot cycle, I put it on prewash and extra rinse too, I put a small amount of bleach and washing up liquid (1 table spoon) in the prewash and main wash compartments
Before I put the machine on to do its maintenance wash, I remove the detergent drawer and give it a really good clean, I also check the compartment where the drawer sits and the the jets where the water fills the drawer and I also remove the pump filter (put a towel down to collect the water) and clean it and check the pump runs freely
This way I am giving my machine the best chance of performing to the best of its ability for years and years to come
Once important thing to consider with regards to the build up in the machine is that whilst that is occurring detergents cannot work as efficiently, because so much of it is being used to tackle the developing problem
I hope this helps :)
Excellent hints and tips👍
Just buy a calblock it's a magnet 🧲 it goes to your washing machines water inlet valve it lasts for over 10 years no more hard water and lower electrical bill's try it there not expensive to buy .
