When the man mentions someone that you have known your entire life (and is one of my pops close friends, and my own Autistic son loves him). @24:17, Gholson, that is Edward (Big E, Ed) Gholson. Yeah that made me smile (I've never seen this until today). Mo and Ed were basketball royalty in the area in their high school days, Mo with Petersburg, and Gholson (and myself later) with Hopewell. Petersburg won states Mo/Gholson's Sophmore year, Hopewell won their Junior year, and then Petersburg in their senior year. Truly lifelong friends, I remember Gholson going to allstar games as a guest of Mo. I met Mo a few times through Gholson, and truly as Mo said, he doesn't forget his friends, truly he never forgot where he came from either. Seen pictures of both Kevin (whom he also mentions) and Gholson with Dr J and Charles Barkley at Mo's 76ers jersey retirement (which should have been done years prior IMHO) Damn shame he is gone.

Moses had bounce gotta actually watch games and not highlights he had the touch his back back scratching dunks in the post and he’d take off of one foot and bang it on you, if you watch full games on CZcams you’ll see these I didn’t know myself and was astonished when I started watching full games of him on Houston and on the 76ers he really had bounce I promise you there’s a story of him and another player that goes something like another player in the nba ran and touched his head on the rim a 6 foot 8 player Moses laughed and stood under the rim with no running start and jumped up and tapped his head on the rim. He was hitting those back scratching dunks into his 30’s. On the bullets.Go watch his full finals highlights against the Celtics in 1981 when when he was on the rockets he hit some vicious dunks in that series. Type Moses Malone full finals highlights vs Celtics.

I was a big fan of his then and in his first two seasons as an ABA player after he made the audacious decision to go right to the pros. He was one of the most genuine people. He never let the hype or commercialism define him. He passed all that over to just play the game. Workmanlike, methodical, with a quiet passion that drove him to go after rebounds with a ferocity unmatched. He didn't try to be a star, but a true player of the game, with class and greatness.

He wasn’t the tallest or greatest leaper but still dominated. This was due to his super intelligence and feel for the game. When a shot was put up he was able to determine if it was good or not and correctly predict which way it would come off the rim. Then hands would act like a bear trap and decisively retrieve the ball. He gave no second chances.

I was in jr high when I heard of this phenom Moses Malone and going pro to the ABA which was a first and unheard of. My high school coach a legend in his own right was working the 5 Star Camp and saw them all. Says Moses was the best he'd ever witnessed. A man among boys.

Howie Garfinkle the owner of 5 Star Camp ( along with Will Klein) says Moses Malone was the only player in the history of the camp that they never had to teach anything.
