Philly screwed Barkley by losing Malone. Malone still had a lot of game left and with Barkley reaching his prime around 89 to 90, they would have been tough.

@@powerboatguy2308owner Harold Katz was upset after Philly lost in the first round the following season after winning the title. They really kind of leveled off immediately after winning the title.
But, Moses was still an elite C and Charles was coming on fast.
Yeah Bobby Jones retired and Julius Erving was soon to follow and Andrew Toney as well, due to foot injuries. But Moses and Chuck would have given Philly something to build around.

Malone was frustrating Kareem on both ends of the floor. Moses frustrated everybody it seems. Unusual mix of being fundamentally sound but unorthodox.

What great touch for a 7 foot + giant, Kareem. And you could tell he was bothering Malone with his length, but Malone had more mobility and quickness, especially on those board positions and followups but a great J for a big man too.

easiest way to know who a player really feared. Don't ask them "who did you fear the most". See if they never bring up an obviously great player and avoid the questions about them.

@@mane4689 No he prolonged theirs. Kareem made life easy for those players. Jabbar drew all the attention from the defense and they were left wide open. Ofcourse they should score. Kareem was still the #1 option in the Laker offense up to his last couple of years. The man won the Finals MVP at 38 years old..
That's why folks who look at it honestly have to at least include him in the GOAT
conversation. Kareem is all substance not flash.

This is the year when Magic was out with knee injuries,he should not have even been playing in this series, you could tell he could hardly move, cooper was getting more playing time.He was more of a liability,Norm and Cooper should have started and let Magic come back fully healthy in 1982,when The Lakers again beat philly.

Moses had small hands and he had a habit of bringing the ball down off a defensive rebounds, small guards like Tyrone Bogues, Spud Webb, Michael Adams, and others started to swipe the ball and make steals.
