    I thoroughly love all your videos. Really good painting guide. I've noticed you start from a grey seer base layer all over the mini first. Any reason why you don't do a full base coat all over the miniature first and then going back?

      @easypeasylemonsqueezy4768 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Warhipster I may have misworded my question. I know some tend to base coat the entire miniature with the primary color and then go back with different colors to different areas. Like for a Rubric marine I paint the entire model gold and go back for the details. Is there a reason on why you paint specific areas one color and then moving on to the next? Would it be due to the nature of contrast paint?

    • @Warhipster
      @Warhipster  Před 2 lety

      Ah I see! Yeah, partly that and partly I try not to create more work for myself where I can. Contrast paints can be a bit finicky with covering over one another due to their translucent nature so it pays to be neat with them.

That's a tough question without doing it myself, though I'd recommend checking out the Karazai video to get an idea for a reddish-brown colour: czcams.com/video/9V_sPbrPH10/video.html You'd probably want to get to the same stage in that video of the 6:1 Contrast Medium:Cygor Brown mix and then instead of that start adding in some Flesh Tearers Red or Blood Angels Red depending on the tone you want to go for.

      Hey Spacie and welcome!
      I’ve not done any videos on equipment and the like for beginners, though it’s certainly something I’ve thought about! I have done a couple of videos on how to use Contrast paints though, which you may find helpful if they’re the sort of thing you want to use on your hobby journey. The first is this one, wherein we talk about how to use Contrast on your brush: czcams.com/video/jwIhHQNFRc0/video.html and the second and slightly longer one is this video, where I paint a tank and talk about how to get Contrast paint to do what you want a bit more: czcams.com/video/SmUpJmgOtPY/video.html
      Hopefully you find these useful!

    Say I want to follow the same technique, but with purple as the main color instead of blue can you recommend some paint substitutions?
    I figured so far
    Terradon Turquoise = Magos Purple
    Leviodon blue = Shyish Purple
    I am not sure what to sub for ultramarines blue in this case though. I am new to using contrast paints. If you wouldn't mind suggesting highlight colors too i would be very greatful! Thanks

      @Warhipster  Před 2 lety +1

      There’s also mixing don’t forget! Something I’ve experimented with in a couple of videos such as mixing Volupus Pink and Talassar Blue or Apothecary White and Magos Purple to get some different purple tones. I’ve actually done a fair bit of this in the video I did on the Keeper of Secrets. If you haven’t already, check that one out to get some inspiration!
