Ren is definitely worth a deep dive. He's a jack of all genres, a true musical and performance art renaissance man. Buckle up, you're in for a wild ride.
It has been years since I’ve been this excited about an artist and he easily joins the ranks of some of the best musicians/bands of all time.
I am completely in awe of Ren’s talent and range of skill and style.
I usually avoid reaction videos but watching Ren reactions, it’s often like watching a blind man seeing the sun, the awe and emotions on reactors’ faces.
Ren is one of a kind...a MASTER story teller...performer.... no 2 songs are the same.... Please react to his MASTERPIECE that is a trilogy of 3 songs woven together to make an amazing story ending... The Tale of Jenny and Screech (FULL)...which includes the 3rd one Violets Tale... MUST be watched together and in order to "GET":...the ending...

Welcome to the multitalented genius Ren. This masterpiece is just the tip of the iceberg. A powerful icing on the Ren-cake if you will 😅 He is a relatable voice for everyone dancing in the darkness as he eloquently, with all the authenticity of someone who is painfully familiar with it, lets us know that we are not alone and inspires us to keep dancing. And in doing so, Ren has literally saved lives with his art.
I trust that other RENegades will fill you in on his backstory and probably recommend Sick Boi for insight into his frustrations from being misdiagnosed for years. I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning.
Also if you want to understand the man behind the art (and why we all love him so dearly), check out his 1m subscribers video on defining success. Ren is not just a brilliant artist but a genuinely good human being who wants to inspire positive change in the world.

Ren is amazing! He does everything; sings, raps, plays multiple instruments, writes, produces his own beats. You never know what you're going to get when you listen to him. He's brilliant! His story is incredible too. I really enjoyed your reaction, and I'll definitely come back to watch more.
Ren is one of the most talented artists I have ever encountered. There is literally nothing he can't do. Definitely check out more. He has quite the story. Mis-diagnosed with Lyme disease for many years and now dealing with chronic conditions as a result. He has so much amazing music to discover! His solo work is great, as are his bands The Big Push and Trick the Fox. New sub from Calgary 💜💜
Ren went years misdiagnosed with Depression bi polar chronic fatigue syndrome he had a recording deal in 2010 why working on his album he got sick and couldn't finish it so they parted ways he move back to Wales he would become bedridden for up 23 hours a day the meds they had him on caused him to have psychosis he got PTSD too but not from the meds it would take years before he would get the right diagnosis he has Lyme disease he has had 2 stem cell transplants done he went so long misdiagnosed he has Brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he in Canada right now getting treatment he has to have IV 5 days a week they put this thing on his head that help open path ways in his brain he take hand full meds 2 times a day he also has ADHD too this was live and one take they had 3 camera set up to get this one take ren play guitar bass drum piano produces his own music mixes his own beats beatboxes sings and can rap he can do any Gener of music

Awesome reaction, I’ve liked and subscribed and can’t wait for whatever ren you’ll be recommended by the my fellow renegades, I’d trust them to steer you in the right direction even if ren’s music had any bad directions, but I’ve listen to everything that’s out there to find and I don’t dislike a single one, its insane 😅

Eddie, glad to see you back to music reactions. I stayed subscribed hoping you would come back and kept watching your movie reactions. Ren is an amazing person, cares about individuals, humanity and the world. I see someone suggested watching his 1M subscribers speech which I think does a lot to illustrate who Ren actually is. Even if you don't react, check it out for your own understanding.
A little about Ren - he got sick in late teens, and was diagnosed with mental health issues. After years (13), of pain, and misdiagnosis, he was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease. This disease is often fully curable by early treatment but if left untreated the bacteria that cause Lyme can attack many systems of your body, including the skin, heart, nerves, joints and even the brain. He is currently, and has been since Jan 2023, in Calgary getting treatment for Lyme disease damage.
Also, in his late teens, his best friend committed suicide by jumping off a bridge, I think in Wales, while Ren was running to try to stop him. This event had a profound effect on Ren and he has some songs that talk about/allude to, his friend Joe.
Ren is Welsh, but he actually lives in Brighton, England. He busked with his band, The Big Push. If you want to hear them, my suggestion is the "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" medley to start with. He also collaborates with other artists, my favourite are his collaborations with Chinchilla, a female artist he calls his musical sibling. Of those, my favourite is "How to Be Me".
Ren is not tied to one genre. He considers his genre to be "Bardcore". One of his greatest pieces of art is "The Tale of Jenny & Screech" (Full). It is difficult to listen to this trilogy but unfortunately, it is true to life.
I am a loyal Ren fan and I am happy to welcome you as you tunnel down the Ren rabbit hole.
What a great comment @darleendionne6403. Just wanted to let you know Ren got his diagnoses of Lyme Disease in December 2015, and his 1st stem cell transplant some months later. Of course he was still in pain and struggled a lot until recently. We all wish him to get to 100% ❤❤

Yay Eddie! You found Ren! When I saw you were posting again (missed your PTX reactions!), I was hoping you would come across Ren. My absolute favourite artist. I fell down the Ren rabbit hole a year ago, and I haven't looked back. Pick a genre, and Ren has most likely done it. He raps, Sings, plays guitar (acoustic, electric AND bass), plays the piano, writes all his own stuff (music and lyrics), beat boxes, produces and directs his own videos (with some help from his friends. Just... everything. And he's totally independent.
You are going to LOVE him. Solo stuff, collaborative stuff, and stuff with his band 'The Big Push'. All fantastic! I am SO here to follow the journey with you! Welcome back ❤

Ren was misdiagnosed and treated for mental health issues while all the time it was Lymes disease. It destroyed important neural pathways . He got worse and worse until one day they figured out what was going on. He’s been coming to Canada for treatment for months at a time where he writes and produces his own stuff. Without a label and in most cases it’s one continuous shot live !!

Ren was misdiagnosed with autoimmune disorder and psychosis after being bit by a tick and getting lymes disease. You must check out “Sick Boi” by Ren to get that little clip. Great reaction. (I’m a new sub)

Also if you're into story telling you really should check out Fade in/ Fade Out from Nothing More. It's a tear jerker but it's amazing. When I look at this live performance, I see it as the intro and start of creativity up thru the yodel. It is then interrupted by doubt, and the proverbial curtains part, and we witness the internal conversation between the 2 sides. it culminates in doubt declaring it's existence is in everyone and is everywhere and an individual is helpless to prevent that. Then hope steps up and helps return Ren to be distant and still, and states his ever persistence and presence as well. "We are coin of two different sides." The creativity is then allowed to continue (back to the yodels). This time, however, both sides are present, as indicated by the set lights flashing (they were not in the first yodel). The poem at the end is part of the performance in every version I've heard of it.
What I get most from that poem is the first line: "When I was 17 years old, I shouted out into an empty room, into a blank canvas, that I would defeat the forces of evil." I feel this shows how we do not start with the life experiences to understand the implications of creating balance within ourselves. We have naive expectations of black and white, good and bad, positive and negative. Meanwhile, we miss the importance of recognizing grayness. "We must not forget, that we are human beings."
My final thoughts are that navigating through life is a balancing act of that coin of 2 different sides. The expectation of either extreme (such as total salvation or absolute corruption) are deceptive, in that there will be internal struggles in everyone's lives at some point in time. Growth, development, and teachings are tools to give the individual to create that balance, allowing movement forward, rather than any other direction.
Oh the rabbit hole you just fell into is deep and amazing. Us Renegades always like to watch a new person fall into this hole with us. Prepare to be amazed. Welcome to the team.

You mentioned "pretty enough" and "thin enough", an older song of his covering this is Dominoes. Hardly reacted to but like all of Ren's music, highly varied and interesting. But there are more overall awesome songs to cover.

Ren is a delight, and a genre unto himself. He does use religious imagery, but culturally, not evangelically. This piece is really in the realm of performance art. Done 4 full times in one take, he picked the best, and this is that one.
And yes, he struggles with misdiagnosed Lyme disease that became a nightmare.
Requesting Sick Boi. Kinda a continuation of Hi Ren. All the things he wished he said to all the doctors who told him his pain, fatigue, digestive and neurological issues were all in his head. Has Lyme disease since he was 19 and severe brain and immunity damage from non-treatment.

I mean really pick one and be surprised because you NEVER know what to expect from Ren. Ren does everything from rock to hip hop to reggae to being a modern day Shakespearian bard with his story telling.
I've said before Ren is capable of breaking you and fixing you in one song and has some deep messaging in his music.

Sick boi is also a valid alternative, if you want to delve more into Ren's battles with his health.
I am sure there will be people telling you all about how he struggled with years of undiagnosed/misdiagnosed Lyme's disease and its consequences.
Musically, you can't really go wrong with Ren, depending on your tastes. He does Reggae, Rap, Folk, Rock, Metal, Musical Theatre, covers, busking, funny, dramatic, introspective, social commentary.. solo, in duets, with a band... and he does it all extremely well.
other titles that are worth checking out? How to be me (live), Humble, I shot the sheriff/Road to Zion, War pigs, Freckled angels, Su!cide, the Love music tetralogy, The hunger, Uninvited, Genesis, Murderer, Diazepam, the Money game trilogy... really, the list goes on and they're all, in one way or the other, worth a listen to.

This kid is a musical genius! Restored my love of music! I have been obsessed with everything Ren for a year and a half! I just have trouble listening to anything else! Great reaction! I won't repeat all the superlatives here, they're all facts, but a good follow up to react to is tbe song Sick Boi. It's the title track to his HipHop album that he dropped right after Hi Ren. (made it to #1 on the UK charts). Hope to see another reaction. 😊
As a Renegade I Love seeing people experience Ren for the first time. Enjoyed your reaction and subbed for more Ren. When asked what genre Ren's music is the only answer I can give is "Yes".
As far as his backstory, Ren suffered severe health problems that were misdiagnosed as mental health issues such as bipolar disorder psychosis & chronic fatigue syndrome for many years. When in fact he was suffering from the effects of Lyme's disease. He has been undergoing constant treatment since the correct diagnosis. There is a ton more to his story which he is very open about and I recommend reading more about him.
