I use fake info whenever something sketchy comes up. Threats here and there, yet no consequences. I also use my school’s wifi so tracking is impossible.

When I was a little kid I downloaded a “free sims game” and ended up getting this search bar on the top of my screen that wouldn’t go away and the virus would randomly pop up new tabs of the weirdest shit and gave fake links full of more viruses.

I’m fortunate in that my parents taught me to be super paranoid about the internet...and also to have a good antivirus software. So I rarely poke around shady websites, and on the occasions where I do I’m extra cautious.
My one amusing story is that there was one time where my sister accidentally downloaded a virus onto the family computer, but because it didn’t activate right away I ended up getting blamed for it, and I had no idea what really happened until my sister confessed years later.

When I was 8 I used my parents ancient Dell and went on some random site and the same alarms started blaring and I just shut the thing off and left. Didn’t even tell my parents. Later my mom told me my dad spent an hour removing a virus and asked if I knew what happened. Of course I didn’t don’t know why she would ever assume me

Grandpa saw it pop up on the web, assumed it was my friend and he proceeded to beat the living sh*t outta him while he was in the middle of writing his homework

And the best way to do that is use Tor + a VPN since tor doesn't encrypt everything because the last node on your circuit can see the originating IP (your IP) but a VPN helps with that because they would get the VPN's IP and not yours.

I never really got scammed like this by websites. Only time I got scammed was on Adopt Me (lol sorry). Got scammed via trust trade, lost a unicorn. Then I learned every possible scam on Adopt Me so I can be more alert.

quick tips : if you are trying to download or do something in a website and just randomly got directed to another website then quickly remove that tab and go back to your previous tab, because the tab you got directed to is an ad which is a scam or it will say something like "click allow to continue" and never allow or agree to anything just remove that tab
