My partner from Norway didn't even realise Linda La Hughes was speaking English at first! On top of that, all the obscure 90's celeb-culture references (who at the time were pretty b-list) it must be completely alien to you! I like it that you keep on watching - these characters, although they seem offensive initially, have real heart!

Shane Richie was a UK "celeb" back in the 90s/00s - he was in a soap called EastEnders. Linda mentions "the sixth Nolan". Years ago there was a pop group called The Nolans who were 5 sisters. Also she says to Sugar "you getting your tits out for The Sun". Up until only a few years back a couple of British newspapers would show topless photos of women on page 3.. Debbie McGee was Magician Paul Daniel's Assistant in the 1980s. I have to admit I did burst out laughing at your reaction too when Linda said "I've got really huge melons" haw brilliant! 🤣

Yes you're right about 'Sugar Walls' name. Sheena Easton released a song of the same name a long time before this but with the same meaning 😂 Elaine Lordon, who plays Sugar, went onto a lead role in UK soap Eastenders shortly after this. Sadly a few years ago the papers reported she had fallen on hard times and was drinking too much. Hopefully back on her feet now. Her and Kathy Burke were/are good friends.

@@amandaabrahams5118 Yes, and “Mama Cass” who Beryl guessed Linda appeared as on Stars in Their Eyes, was an overweight singer from the 60s, who died young and has had the cruel false rumour that she choked to death gobbling down a ham sandwich.
