    I think Montreal might just put this guy on their top line with Suz and Goalfield and on the PP, hopefully that inflates his stats and he can then be flipped at the deadline to a team looking for some extra offense. This might be a good indication that these two (Hughes, Gorton) have a good eye for asset management. Now they need to work with the assets they have, guys like Poehling and Pitlick have potential that hasn't been reached yet, among others.

    • @btanguay96
      @btanguay96 Před 2 lety +2

      The biggest thing because bergevin and hughes is bergevin was loyal to his guys. You say it during the playoffs hes out there hugging and celebrating with his vets. Holding on to his vets when he probably should have moved them for future. Hughes and gorton have zero ties to any of the players. So for them its all hockey moves. They have their list of players who are harder to move then others like anderson and the eventual lekhonen. But again it was a hockey smart move to let lekhonen go. Getting a future top 4 dman and a future second rounder for a third line shutdown specialist with streaky scoring ability is a win. Just like anderson he makes it well known he has zero interest to move anderson. But hey if you want him your gonna have to blow my socks off with an offer i cant refuse.

    • @alex-dj9bx
      @alex-dj9bx Před 2 lety

      @@btanguay96 The problem with Bergevin is that he was too much loyal to their players, especially with Price and Weber. That’s can be a great quality for him, but a huge default for a GM, especially with a business context of the job. Also, Bergevin was too much ‘’quantity’’ over ‘’quality’’, like during the draft’s.
      I think that’s the opposite for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton. I think they are loyal, but if someone offer to them something that they can’t refuse, they will take the risk. That’s what happened with Chiarot and Lehkonen. Also, I’m not surprise if they will make a trade to have another top 10 pick in the upcoming draft.

      @@Annexation_ That’s the simple way to put it yea.
      What it actually does is allow them to go OVER the cap, but it’s not as simple as just 7.8m disappearing from the cap.
      For example, if Vegas was just 5m over the cap and put Weber’s 7.8 on LTIR, they would just get 5m in space to make them compliant. They wouldn’t be 2.8 under the cap.
      However if they were 7.8 over the cap and put him on LTIR, they’d get the full 7.8 of Weber’s contract to make them compliant.
      There’s a bit of work when it comes to maximizing LTIR pool.

    How Dadonov plays or fits seems pretty irrelevant for Montreeal. It was all to have the books cleared next season from Dadonov, Drouin, Byron, and Allen. Even though there's some great pieces on the team, I think Hughes is perfectly fine with another top-10 pick before ramping it up for 2023-2024.

      Lack of inspiration?? The dude literally risked his future to give the habs fans a glimpse of something they had not seen since 93. He played thru major career ending injuries to be on the ice till the very last second knowing very well it was his last. He could have easily packed it that year saying he was beyond hurt and pssibly save his career. His leadership inspired a team that had no business beinf in the playoffs beat out 3 very good teams. Yes price was incredible but whose to say he didnt know about webers situation and leave averything he had on the ice as well. Same goes with petry he was an offensive leader who got to play thst way because weber was there to pick up the defensive slack of petry. We saw what petry is like when he tries to be a weber replacement.. it doesnt work out well.
