It’s obvious you don’t live in Youngstown because if you did you’d know that’s not true at all.
This story isn't talking about the City of Youngstown alone . It's the Census Bureau's Youngstown Metropolitan Statistical Area ( MSA ) which is referred to - basically the whole of Mahoning , Trumbull & Mercer Counties. Most of those 3 counties would be great to retire to, but not so much Youngstown and Warren.
It's a shame Youngstown politicos take credit so frequently when none is due. Most outsiders ( be they prospective residents or investors ) aren't fooled. If they would only modernize the way they run Youngstown City , they may have something to boast about .
It's a fine line between #1 place to retire and #1 place to go to die.
"Retire" means "burried" in old Youngstownian.
Cost of living there and Struthers and around is so low because no one wants to live in a dying slum and expose themselves to so many shootings every week😂
Super unsafe high crime area and retiring has to do with safety and healthy things to do. It’s not even safe to drive or walk the streets😢

Ive lived in SanDiego, LaJolla, Carlsbad, seattle, flagstaff, Milwaukee, San Bernadino, Los Angeles and by far Youngstown is my favorite
