Jupiter 2 --Tour of The Solar System

- This is my followup to the last J-2 video "The Derelict" I made a few months back. I wanted to make something real cool with the limited equipment I have. I have a two Moebius Jupiter models (one with and without landing gear) and a polar lights version. I use the Sony HDR-CX110 camcorder for the green screen shooting of the J-2 models and incorporated it with video backmattes and HD photography for a total cinematic look. Hope you LIS

Best TV soundtrack by John Williams and sound effects, The black & white episodes were best when it was new our Tv was a black & white Philco. Things got a bit campy when color came but still very cool we had a lot of cool shows in the 1960's and 1970's when TV was free.
I was right there with ya! I'm turning 56 in a few weeks and Lost In Space was a big part of my rerun experience. My generation was the very first one to inherit the reruns from that amazing time and I feel like I'm one of the Honor Guards entrusted with the preservation of all this great sci-fi goodness. Also, with the music you mentioned, some of it was from The Day The Earth Stood Still, composed by Bernard Hermann. Great example, the initial confrontation between Robby and B-9 in "War Of The Robots".

This is AWESOME. I am an original fan of the original series as broadcast BACK IN THE DAY. It was my favorite show, despite Star Trek (also a favorite) being far better, You've captured the sounds, the impressions, and made the images (sans actors) better. Thanks from a Boomer Geezer!

This is marvelous. I'm amazed at the work you have put into this. Makes me feel like I am inside the ship and totally enjoying myself! That music alone brings back memories of one of my favorite shows. John Williams - one of the greatest composers of our era.

I was obsessed with Lost in Space as a child. There were thousands of stars in the sky over my house and I imagined somewhere out there, there really was a family having adventures in outer space. I would have given up my life to be with them.

I was a youngster back then but not too young to remember all of those good shows you mentioned.
My inner child is very happy! :) This brings back many fond memories being glued to the set and excited to see what would happen next. As a kid I loved the adventure, as an adult I love the guest stars and high camp comedy. They really deserved another season or two.
Yeah, man! The fantasy worlds of Irwin Allen were just a UHF or VHF click away. I miss those days and regularly watch Lost In Space on Hulu. Last episode watched-"The Dream Monster" starring John Abbott as Prof. Sesmar and Dawson Palmer as his creation, Raddeon. The preceding episode was called "Wreck Of The Robot" with the Zaticons.
I always favored the themes you used when the J2 lifted off Mars. Cool video!
You created a very fun tour of the solar system solar system riding aboard one of the most iconic spacecraft in television history. How many of us wished that we had our own Jupiter 2, to be able to cruise the space ways? This video gives a clear idea of how awesome it would be to do just that! Great job! And wonderful use of your very cool limited resources. (I will have to buy one of those Moebius models!) You brought this fantastic idea to life, with an amazing style and sense of fun. Bravo! Just be careful to keep track of your robot a little bit better!
The design of the Jupiter 2 is timeless. The Netflix series should have left it as is. Thanks for sharing this!
Agree 3000. Plus the other way they fucked up bigly is "Dr. Smith" should have remained a mystery forever. The new Dr. Smith had believable plausible deniability until they blew it by have Don out her so easily.
I agree just like they should have used the original Jupiter 2 design for the Lost in Space movie instead of the egg.
All the current reboots should've kept their respective original ships!! It's a shitscape now.
The Jupiter 2 was the last sci-fi ship to use the old “flying saucer” design. Star Trek came along in 1966 and changed sci-fi forever.
Should have left everything the same. But it’s always the same story trying to fix what isn’t Brocken. And what’s with the the new r obit looks creepy!

It's a cool video, and it kind of makes you think. A ship this good is little short of a Star Trek ship (without warp drive) and you'd think there would be dozens flying all around the solar system carrying explorers, mining, building, and so on. Who needs Alpha Centauri?

Would you happen to have a version of this video without the music? I say that because as well all know, the sound fx speak for themselves and just listening to the J2 as it hops from planet to planet with the original sound fx would be way more chilling and atmospheric. Good video though and thanx for showing the Jupiter some love!
