United Airlines (UA) introduced their Polaris product on their 777-300ER planes in June 2016, which features a new business class seat design with direct aisle-access on all seats. Although I'm a bigger fan of the reverse herringbone configuration in business class, I actually like these seats and they are quite comfortable for the 5.5 hour flight back to the US mainland.
What I liked:
The plane - We got lucky enough to be on a flight that was operated by one of UA's internationally configured Boeing 777-300ER, which features the Polaris seats.
The seats - UA's Polaris seats are very comfortable for lounging and turn into a full flat bed when you're ready to sleep. The cabin is laid out in a 1-2-1 staggered configuration and all seats also feature direct aisle access.
The IFE - I found the in-flight entertainment very good. The interface was easy to use and it offers plenty of media content that kept me occupied for the entire flight.
Personal air nozzles - I'm so glad that UA opted to have personal air nozzles installed on their 777-300ERs. They kept me cool and comfortable the entire flight.
What I didn’t like:
Watered-down Amenities - Although this flight offered the new Polaris seats, sadly the amenities were somewhat lacking. No menus were given to First Class passengers. The amenity kit given to us was as basic as can be, and the Polaris duvet was missing. Although I was glad to see that noise-canceling headphones were available.
It’s OK, I guess…
The in-flight Service - The in-flight service from the crew was OK. No pre-departure beverages were offered and the entire meal was served in one tray, which seems to be the norm nowadays due to the pandemic. Though the flight attendant working our aisle was very friendly and checked on us periodically if we needed anything.
The Catering - The catering out of Honolulu was OK. United isn't well known to have incredible in-flight catering, but the chicken katsu curry main I ordered was pretty good.
Bottom Line:
I'm usually an American Airlines flyer so it's a nice change to fly United to get a comparison. These Club Suite seats are comfortable, but I feel that American's reverse herringbone seats on their widebody fleet, are much more comfortable. The catering from Honolulu was good, but forgettable. The crew working this flight were friendly, charming, and upbeat. The in-flight amenities were somewhat lacking, but I guess adequate for this medium haul flight. The icing on the cake was the personal air nozzle, which I greatly appreciated.

Great video! I hope you enjoyed your stay here in our island home. Aloha nō!
Thanks for watching! We had a wonderful time.
Beautiful flight and those views of HNL were just awesome 👍👍💙💙
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I think this is business class. It is nothing like First Class on any other airlines
All US airlines call their domestic (short haul) premium cabins “first class”.
This is correct.
Not convinced on the food offereing (seemed a little meagre), but the flight otherwise looked pleasant.
Agreed. Yeah the catering wasn’t the best, but the seat and the flight overall was pretty good.
Nothing more than normal business class
Agreed. Thanks for watching!
Really? Try flying business class domestically, not internationally, in Europe. Single aisle aircraft with 3-3 seating. But the middle seat in each of those three seat sets is blocked off (with a seat filler or tray) and the middle seat is not assigned to any human. That's "normal" business within Europe. No more leg room than economy. No more seat width than economy. No better recline. Not even the room of premium economy. Normal business class? You must be speaking of international business class or are simply clueless.
@@WilliamMurphy-uv9pm still that’s nothing more than business class. It’s not first class
@@juhakeskinen1103 OK, you are entitled to your own opinion, I guess Facts are meaningless..

Nice review
Thanks for watching!
Still trying to figure out what date this was. The monitor in the terminal says Oct 19, 2021, but your description says March 2017.
Thanks for watching. The delivery date in the description is when the aircraft first went into service. The date of the flight is Oct 19, 2021.
Are there 12v outlets or even a 110 outlet? I need one if I’m going to use my cpap. Thanks
There are 110v outlets, but I believe you need to notify the airline first if you will be using a medical device onboard.
@@travelingfoody thank you very much for the information.
This is Business Class - NOT First Class
United only offers First Class on this Domestic route (using the Polaris business class seats). Thanks for watching!
Is it worth it for an 8hr flight?
I think it is…

Awesome! It's really an amazing place. Thanks for sharing.
@@travelingfoody glad you folks enjoyed it. It truly is amazing, magical if I’m being honest. Aloha from Hawai’i 🤙🏽
First class and plastic cups?? Definitely not first class, the seat maybe!
Thanks for watching! This was during their COVID service, so service was kept at a minimum. I believe they started using real glass again for their beverages in-flight.
@@travelingfoody yes indeed ,covid did a lot to down grade service everywhere!.
