My manager (or supervisor, actually) basically insulted me to my face. She was upset when I had signed up for a shift where there was nobody there to work with me. I'll admit, I am MUCH better with a helping hand and guide, and that I'm kind of a slow learner, but come on, that's no excuse for how direct and opinionated she was. Has that loser ever heard of a thing called tact, or even faith or potential? You shouldn't underestimate people, especially to their faces! When she asked me if I thought I could do the shift by myself, I said, "yes," and she disagreed. She said she didn't think so, was all "I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that" (something like, that, so I'm not perfectly quoting her), and she told me I need someone there to give me instructions and guide me. She was basically saying directly to my face that I was not independently capable. I guess you could say she was implying I was helpless. Either way, she TOTALLY indicated she had no faith in me. I'm mad at myself for not standing up to her. She intimidates me when she's in a bad mood, but still, at the very least, I should've told her I believed in myself, to subtly hint, "Unlike you, so stop with the underestimation, you bigot."

Look, I too am in favour of learning the English Language, and am a strong believer of the theory that knowing how to speak in the language reflects a lot on the workplace and company's reputation. However, I would never endorse the idea of belittling someone on the basis of that EXCUSE.
If she really cared so much, she would have helped him learn the language by asking him to speak to her regularly and offer to correct him gently whenever he made mistakes. (Something that I usually do................. with the people I work)
This is important because not everyone is fortunate enough to learn everything while in school. Plus, we don't know what options they had to choose from, so we are under no liberties to judge their decisions either. She didn't want him to learn, but rather wanted to use him as a tool to massage her ego, and look where it ended up getting her, and the company she worked for. 😂
The sad part of stupid acts like this, is that people who have nothing to with these situations, end up getting penalised just because they have associations with people like herself.

Why exactly employees knowing English increase reputation ? Have you heard of this occurance in Japan ? Or Germany ? Or France? No . Those countries understand that English is just a language . It doesn't certify anyones intellect or Integrity.
By the way this thinking is exactly what Colonised mind is . Which thinks culture of its master is superior.

Actually, there is research to show that the more languages one learns, the more enhanced their lateral thinking capabilities are.
Now, take my own example, I know English, French, Kannada and Hindi in their Purest possible forms. Plus, I know conversational German, and am being trained in Spanish as well.
It has enhanced my logical thinking capabilities, greatly.

Two people should speak in whatever language they can more most easily communicate in. right now the majority of urban Indians are speaking in a mixture of some native language and English together.
Having said that, one should be grounded in a native Indian languages, Telugu Tamil Bengali etc. nowadays people can’t speak any language correctly. And all those proud people, who only speak in English, they don’t understand how poor their quality of English is compared to native speakers say in England.

The video is good and the moral is worth 👏 But in corporate life, most of conversations happen in English only, except when we are speaking to our own colleagues who are of our level and that too in a personal front. In my job also, we speak to our managers and even are meetings are in English, but when we colleagues speak to each other, it is either in Hindi and Kannada. But this doesn't mean that we must disrespect people who don't know English. We must converse with them in their comfortable language and also help them in their English communication for their own improvement.

I mean I respect all languages but you don't have the rights to force others to learn hindi saying hindi is the mother tongue of Indians. Rather you should say Indians have their own respective mother tongues like odia, tamil, Marathi, etc. And I'm sure you must be a north Indian staying in kerala because had you been a native keralite then you must be feeling proud of your own mother tongue Malayalam rather than hindi
