@@FrazerHatyaiI agree with you that illegal things happend in Thailand including the Red Bull's son case. And they are disgusting, it all come to corruption, but we try hard to fix it. The dog meat trade is only run by outlaw gangsters in some area of Thailand, and they sell to vietnam market. Most Thai people love dogs and kind to other animals. The majority of Thais never wish to try to eat dog meat. In general all illegal trades happend around the world including in Europe and North America(drugs, human trafficking, smuggled goods etc.)some countries has more, some has less. Not just Thailand, we try very hard to clean up our country. I hope you understand. Thanks😀

    • @KV-rs6de
      @KV-rs6de Před 3 lety

@@FrazerHatyai It is not quite true that rich people can kill someone and do not have to go to jail. I admit that corruption is still there, but not ervery officials take bribes. If someone try to bribe a wrong person, can also go to jail for bribing an officer. Red Bull case is disgusting, as the billionaire parents should have more morality and let their son fight the case like everyone else. And it is more likely that he will be judged "awaiting penalization" if they choose fight the case as the son has "no intention to kill" the victim as it was an accident. and they heals the victim's family. But they have chosen the wrong choice.
Note: I myself want the redbull son to go to jail as well.😊

@@FrazerHatyai That was not funny,! You should not make fun of our king's speech! I try to explain to you with negative things that you may have seen in Thailand with logic, but it does not mean that they are always commonly happend. And Thai people do not accept the corruptions or illegal trades.
And you just make a joke of my king's speech, it means that you know Thailand just skin deep. Most Thais love the monarchy, and don't like anyone to make fun of our king (the head of the state). In your culture it may alright to do that with your head of the state. But in my culture we do respect the monarchy.
Note: We are just exchanging opinions. I agree and disagree with you in some issues.
Just as if you have question why you see protesters on streets.
The protesters want Thailand to turn to a republic. And they are brianwashed by opposition leader's propoganda. But they are a minority. Most Thais love the constitutional monarchy.

I have a home in Thailand. Just came back two months ago. Airport taxis still try the 'meter don't work'. Immigration laws constantly change. This year I got fined for not reporting in to immigration within 24 hours of arriving in the Country. I landed in BKK at night, got a hotel and next morning headed out to my home. I was fined for not reporting in to immigration within 24 hours. Don't get me started on Thai police stopping you because you are a foreigner. Always get an international license and apply for a Thai license when possible.

As a Thai, one thing I totally agree with you is that many taxis and Tuk-Tuk tried to scam tourists or Fa-rang(foreigners). But guess what! Thai people also get the same bad experience taking taxis in Thailand(Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai). These taxis are bad, but not all taxi drivers are like that. Usually they are mostly on the tourist area.😀

Number #6. Lack in driving laws and not having proper driving lessons in the country. Sooo many traffic officers not doing thier job and enforcing such basic driving laws. Improper learning so most dont even know basic road.signs and speeds... And 50% of the drivers on the road not having a license at all. But never caught.

Great vlog Frazier. The immigration/visa issue does not really worry me as it has improved so much. I am on a retirement visa so that does simplify things. In the past it was almost impossible to get a retirement visa. A friend of mine was left with an application pending for around 5 years on a retirement extension. He had to report to immigration every 60 days to be told the application was still pending. This was the mid 1990's.

Most of the time they feel good to see you. They call as they see you, even the japanese who stay here for a long time and have family here, they would be call as Khon Yee-poon(Japanese) if they don't know the name of this japanese guy. So my point to you is that Thai people always welcome everyone who wants to live here.

I agree on 5 things but one point I am so tired with a lot of foreigners who always complain about paying extra for Thai national tickets. Men you should consider about paying ticket higher than Thai people. When international students study not in their country, do you know how many doubles do they have to pay for their tuition? How much they pay white immigrant workers more than Thai people as some position? This is you should know why you have to pay more than Thai people for Thai national. Thai government asks Thai people to support Thai national such as Park, Museum, some temples because they want all Thai access those things. Thai tax money is supporting to maintain those things. Do you know how much Thai people have to pay a visa fee just applying the application when we have to go to some countries such as USA, UK, or in Europe just to step on those lands. This is more information, so you might not think what you are paying extra is only contribute the country.

HI Oh Janmekha, I tottally agree. double pricing exists one way or another everywhere in the world. as I mentioned in my video as I just wanted to be accepted same as a Thai person as I love Thailand, live here and pay tax here, nowadays I look at it a different way, I am lucky to be able to proudly pay more than Thai people to support parts of a country I really love and I also now know I will never be able to become Thai or be seen as Thai - British. I will always be 'Farang' unlinke Thais who immigrate to USA or UK they can be accepted as American People or British people if they live and pay tax there.

For the fees for tourists and Thai nationals to enter some temples and national parks, I think you answer it already, thank you for your understanding.
Let me give you my experience in Australia where I was educated, foreign students like me had to pay double of what Australian students paid for university fees. And that's a lot of money. In Thailand if you go to private school or university Thai & foreign students pay the same rate.
So I think every country has Pros & Cons, depend on how you look at it.

If they allow for such request, then you have to carry all documents to prove it to get these rate same as the local?! what is the chances of you going to places like that anyway?! There are more 40,000 temples in Thailand, more than 99% there is no tourist entrance fee.
And those officials in national parks or temples that collect the fees, they just try to do their job, as you already mentioned in your video.

But still I paid my school fees almost double of the local students paid. And guess what the rich Australian business man paid the school fees for their children just about half of what I paid too(Do you think it's fair?) I'm talking about ten of thousands of AUD each year per student. But I never complaint about it, because I knew the rules & regulations since I first went there. It was my choice to go or not to go.
I wish that foreigners would accept rules & regulations here in Thailand too. The only temple entrance fee that is expensive is the temple of Emerald Buddha cost 16-17USD(500 Baht) other temples or national parks or cost between 1.60-3.2USD(50-100 Baht)
I hope it is not a lot of money too complaint, all fees are to help to maintenance the historical temples and the national parks. I texted you before that 99% of temples are free to visit, so as most of the places in Thailand. Since you are living in Thailand you should know about it.

@@KV-rs6de you dont actually pay more for university than Australian students. The difference is Australians have tuition subsidised by the government so they don't have to pay the full cost, they pay part and the government pay the rest.
International students pay full because the government doesn't pay part for them.
This is not the same as charging more for tourist attractions.
all western countries charge the same for Local and International tourists.

I've learned that the "twatpackers" aren't necessarily the worst.....The people that call themselves teachers are usually alcoholic ladies men... The people that choose to stay here are usually worse than the tourists.
You won't be considered Thai because "Thailand is for Thai". The laws are aimed to only benefit Thai..This is why it isn't feasible to start a business there. I agree hat Thailand is for Thais, and that the Laws are aimed to benefit Thais, and rightly so in my opinion. on your point about Teachers in Thailand. I used to be a full time teacher here and I have to agree that many of my coworkers were alcoholics or three month backpackers. But things are changing now with better background checks and higher requirements for Teachers.
I also agree that the old foreigners do complain and are sometimes right, but most of the time they know nothing about thailand out of their bar stool in pattaya or their thai girlfriend in her 20s and her family up in issan who they send money to each month.
on your last point about the old men who lose houses and businesses to their thai wives, that is usually down to their bad decision when chosing a life partner, going for a uneducated bar girl who is 30 years younger than they are.

Thai schools have the third highest number of school holidays in the world. Keep them dumb and they won't ask questions. Give them money and they will vote for who you want.
When their farang eventually gets a visa to to take her out of the country, she is only fit for cleaning in a hotel until she finds another farang with more money.

For elephant riding in Thailand, the owner treat their elephants as a member of their family, like their own child. These elephants has been house breed over century(not capture from the wild). It is part of their culture to train elephant(some tribes are well known for training elephant such as Kui people, Karen people) in North and North Eastern of Thailand.
I think circus or aquarium around Europe or in America is more to criticize for animal cruelty.

      @FrazerHatyai  Před 3 lety +2

there are no animal circuses in America and UK anymore. it was banned for cruelty a long time ago. you only see this in movies.

I have one thing I don't like about Taiwan it's similar with you. I don't like being eternally labeled a foreigner.
However other than that in Taiwan there is not tourist price , there is no exploiting foreigners here . We all pay the same price. Haggling is also none existent. Women aren't gold diggers here , you never see some retired old man with a young 20 year old girl here . And if you marry a Taiwanese girl don't worry you won't be responsible for financially support her entire family. And things like brothels exist here but actually not many sexpats go to them it's more for local people like that stuff...b
