    Excellent video of our immediate area and all that is being done to restore after Hurticane Irma and Ian. Thank you Paul for making us all aware of the present situation.

    Thank you keeping us informed on what is happening. I definitely think it’s great to open up Tigartail I’m hoping a bridge will be next to further utilize all the parking to use our beautiful beaches.

    Great job Paul, helps to understand what is happening. I can see beach started to be more wide every day.

      Hi Ewa, Thanks for your comments. I agree, the amount of sand dredged and moved to widen the lagoon entrance and barrier beach is amazing.

    🏖️ Add to (mitigatable) side-effects of beach "renourishment":
    Shark attacks via
    1) direct access channels (esp to areas between "sandbars"), and
    2) bait-fish populations created near recent dredging

    • @PaulBalzano
      @PaulBalzano  Před měsícem

      Hmmm, thanks. Have not heard of any shark sightings, and certainly no attacks in the area.

    Paul, I am planning a family vacation and Marco island was at the top of our list.
    Are these beaches , including tiger tale accessible during this project? Any helpful information you can provide before I lock in on a trip would be appreciated.
    The project looks phenomenal and a great investment. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Joe, Thanks for your question. Lock it in! Marco beaches are in great shape. This project is confined to the northern tip of the Island. Tigertail is still accessible, although not my personal favorite because of the hike to get there. I prefer South Beach or the others there.

    To those of us that live right on the middle part of the arm it has been noisy and loud all season long. And all the beautiful wildlife are gone. This project has caused more problems and no one can ever predict what Mother Nature has in store. They should just let nature take its course.

    • @PaulBalzano
      @PaulBalzano  Před rokem

      Thanks for your comments. Other than the noise you mentioned, what other problems has this project created for you?

    • @lizstephenson152
      @lizstephenson152 Před rokem

      @@PaulBalzano that all the birds have disappeared. We use to have so many beautiful birds. But the noise has forced them to leave. This project has destroyed the ecosystem for wonderful bird population. And once they leave they don’t come back. So I hope it was all worth it. We have called Marco island home for 46 years full time. Nature must be allowed to be fluid and change as it desires. We are all just simply guests here

    Umm, restore what! Mother Nature has done her job. Why do we think that we know what is best???

    • @PaulBalzano
      @PaulBalzano  Před rokem

      Hi Joann, Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, Mother Nature caused a lot of destruction with recent hurricanes that hit Southwest Florida. This project is meant to restore the flow of water into the lagoons to help save them amongst other things. Hopefully it will be a success.
