Celtic Woman's music clearly touches people's hearts deeply, as seen in the tear-filled eyes of the audience. And I’m pretty sure this is also true for many CZcams viewers who are shedding a tear, when listening to such a moment of pure musical beauty... And I admit, myself included! 😢
Beautifully done. If this song doesn't grip the heart of mid-Appalachian men and women, what else can? I love the Shenandoah River and its storied Valley. I love the Shenandoah's rich history. The name comes from the Algonquin word "schind-han-do-wi" and means "Daughter of the Stars." Great armies have marched up and down this wide beautiful valley. Buffalo, Elk, wolves, panthers, horses, cattle, and men of all races have sipped from the river's cool waters. As Valley men and women moved west in the mid-eighteen hundreds, reaching the wide Missouri River and dangerous lands beyond, they often looked back and longed to see their beloved Shenandoah Valley again, with its gently flowing river. Most never returned, but the Valley remained in their hearts and memories to their dying day.
As a Native Virginian, and a native of the Southern Blue Ridge, whose family has been here since 1792, this song moves me to tears. I wish it could be one of our State songs of Virginia. God bless the Ol Dominion
Absolutely love this song that smile she does right at the beginning just melted my heart she is absolutely beautiful her voice is so soothing and relaxing this is my all time favourite song by Celtic women hope Celtic women like this comment
@@michaelhayden725I don’t know why the song reminds me of the civil war. I keep remembering this painting of these two Irish brothers in the museum in North Carolina. They have bayoneted one another and died but the painting portrays them embracing one another in death. The flute if anything is what’s reminding me of it. Legend of the falls, titanic type shit. I don’t know why. But it makes me think of that picture which makes the rest of the song remind me of the war. Reminds me of the Scot Irish in the mountains of Appalachia from Georgia to New York too. Like the Blue Ridge in North Carolina where last of Mohicans was filmed. The Appalachia’s were a hot bed of southern unionist because there were not big in plantations. And brothers really fought brothers. But the southern unionist is an often overlooked participant. They were closer to the revolution than we are to the civil war in years. They weren’t fighting against their flag. But others did. Thus the painting. And something about this song makes me think about all that.
I have been eagerly anticipating the official release of this music video, and I am delighted that it is finally available. The song is exceptionally beautiful, and I genuinely miss Megan's presence in the group. I sincerely hope that she will rejoin the group in the future. ❤❤❤
It is absolutely impossible for any artist to paint his portrait. Dear and beloved Megan, I understand, it's not easy, after Sissel, to sing a song as this. However, I do not do without her voice that I have long fallen in love with. And the niece who has the face of her aunt and sings so well! 💐For her, and for you👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇮🇪🇵🇹
The finest musical performance I've ever seen! Everything Megan had worked for and earned brought her to this moment! The song, the musical arrangement, Megan's beauty and her amazing voice gave new life to a classic song of longing, heart, and majestic loyalty to a land It is one of my favorite CelticWoman performances and one I consider perfect! This one single performance changed my life, and I will never be too proud to admit it! 💚💚💚💙💙💙💙Thank you Celtic Woman Official for releasing this Ancient Land performance! I will remember the PBS concert, and this performance forever!!
I love this song, Megan; you absolutely crush it & nail it singing this song. I wish I could have seen you, Mairead, Eabha & Tara on the Ancient Land U.S. tour
Ya I am big fans of Celtic Women. More than 10 years I can see they have Re-generation from time to time The quality of the Girls still maintained the standard as always Whether In house show and Outdoor concert Quite amazing Bravo Keep going Celtic Women Keep your culture the Treasure. Best Regards From Indonesia❤
I am a fan of the Petersons, but their traditional version is the low point of their singing portfolio (traditional is sung very fast). I love the Celtic Women, this was, to me, the second best version, even though it is a woman singing about another woman. The best version, which I haven't heard in many years, was the theme song of the Shenandoah TV series. I would watch that part of the show, and then turn the channel to watch another show.

Megan gave such a beautiful rendition of Shenandoah. The Irish whistle added a lot, also.
Love this performance. Megan is such a gift 🎁. Saw her perform this live in NH on postcard. It was wonderful
One of my favorites!
The more I hear this ladies sing, the more I wish could see their homeland.
I'm listening to this rendition while sitting in northern Virginia. I love fishing this river with its gorgeous scenery and life. Just Beautiful!

For some reason this song makes me think of the American civil war and the ghost of the dead who fell in the Shenandoah valley and never left.
A close association, but it’s believed to go back another 40 or 50;years to the early trappers. But as a traditional song it’s timeless.

Celtic Woman Could/should sing this song The Wellerman just like Celtic Thunder Sings it
I always wondered if these women were compensated well. I know it can be costly with a crew of many dozens including the band
