- The first time I seen this engine was back in 2005 at my hometown but I wasn’t able to see it again, until December 2018 we meet again. So I went over to New Orleans to go see 745. I had so much fun seeing 745 and it put on a grand show.
745 is a MK-5 Mikado built in 1921 by the Algiers Shops of Southern Pacific in New Orleans for the Texas and New Orleans Railway. 745 is the only surviving steam locomotive built in the Louisiana.
A big thanks to Louisiana Steam Train Association and New Orleans Public Belt Railroad for making this event happen.

I was right beside you at Audubon Park for the departure! Glad to meet you and see this locomotive put on a show. My footage will be up by tomorrow.
We have number 786 over here on the Austin & Texas Central, but we've been running an Alco RSD and now, a GP40-3, since she was sidelined for a boiler crack way back in 99. She's currently being rebuilt along with our number 442.
It was a number of major cracks in her cylinder casting

There is no next year. 745 will be closed to the public
No 745 will be closed from the public but only for the rebuild
@@DylanRailVids04 that will be several years, or more if funds and volunteers aren't sufficient for our 1472.

But seriously though southern pacific 745 looks pretty amazing and fantastic it’s to bad it will be in its 1472 day rebuild next year but all we can say is good luck southern Pacific 745 and we will see you soon
TRAINZ MASTER 745 Productions she will be out for a year to a year and a half but this is for good reason she has been operating since 2004. So it’s the FRA regulation to have the 1472 every 15 years.

It was fun firing this from Kansas City back to new Orleans, teaching the LASTA local guys how to fire and drive on hills.
I’ve actually watched this video a few times. Hope for the chance to be able to chase this someday, but great video man!

Pause at 14:39 right after the flag goes out of frame, but right before the wreath goes out of frame. The housings are still there, but it looks like the bulbs were removed. So, technically, yes.
What's the status on her restoration is she going to be returning to service soon?
